Product Information

The Healthcare Lighting Patient Room Troffer HPT6 w/ Pillow Switch & 5STEP nIO is an LED healthcare lighting product that is designed to provide high-quality lighting in patient rooms. The product is manufactured by Healthcare Lighting, a company based in Edison, NJ. The product is equipped with a pillow switch and 5STEP nIO technology that allows for easy control and adjustment of the lighting settings.

Important Safety Instructions

  • Read and follow all safety instructions provided in the user manual.
  • Disconnect or turn off power before installation or servicing.
  • Verify that the supply voltage is correct by comparing it with the luminaire label information.

  • Allow lamp/fixture to cool before handling. Do not touch hot lens, lamp, guard, or enclosure.

  • Follow all lamp manufacturer’s warnings, recommendations and restrictions on lamp operation including but not limited to: ballast type, burning position, replacement, and recycling.
  • Use only lamps that comply with ANSI standards.
  • Wear gloves and safety glasses at all times when removing luminaire from carton, installing, servicing or performing maintenance.
  • Avoid direct eye exposure to the light source while it is on.
  • Keep combustible and other materials that can burn away from lamp/lens.
  • Do not operate in close proximity to persons, combustible materials or substances affected by heat or drying.
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can damage the product. Personal grounding equipment must be worn in Article 604 of the National Electric Code and Underwriters Laboratories Standard for Safety #183 MUST BE installed.

Product Usage Instructions:

Before using the Healthcare Lighting Patient Room Troffer HPT6 w/ Pillow Switch & 5STEP nIO, ensure that you have read and understood all the safety instructions provided in the user manual. Follow the below steps for product usage:

  1. Disconnect or turn off the power before installation or servicing.
  2. Verify that the supply voltage is correct by comparing it with the luminaire label information.
  3. Make all electrical and grounded connections in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and any applicable local code requirements. All wiring connections should be capped with UL approved recognized wire connectors.

  • To reduce the risk of death, personal injury or property damage from fire, electric shock, falling parts, cuts/abrasions, and other hazards please read all warnings and instructions included with and on the fixture box and all fixture labels.
  • Before installing, servicing, or performing routine maintenance upon this equipment, follow these general precautions.
  • Installation and service of luminaires should be performed by a qualified licensed electrician.
  • Maintenance of the luminaires should be performed by person(s) familiar with the luminaires’ construction and operation and any hazards involved. Regular fixture maintenance programs are recommended.
  • It will occasionally be necessary to clean the outside of the refractor/lens. Frequency of cleaning will depend on ambient dirt level and minimum light output which is acceptable to user. Refractor/lens should be washed in a solution of warm water and any mild, non-abrasive household detergent, rinsed with clean water and wiped dry. Should optical assembly become dirty on the inside, wipe refractor/lens and clean in above manner, replacing damaged gaskets as necessary.
  • DO NOT INSTALL DAMAGED PRODUCT! This luminaire has been properly packed so that no parts should have been damaged during transit. Inspect to confirm. Any part damaged or broken during or after assembly should be replaced.
  • If the lamp is marked (Hg) it contains Mercury. Follow all disposal laws. See www.lamprecycle.org.

CAUTION: RISK OF PRODUCT

  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD): ESD can damage product(s). Personal grounding equipment must be worn during all installation or servicing of the unit.
  • Do not touch individual electrical components as this can cause ESD and affect product performance.
  • Do not stretch or use cable sets that are to short or are of insufficient length.
  • Do not tamper with contacts.
  • Do not modify the product.
  • Do not change or alter internal wiring or installation circuitry.
  • Do not use product for anything other than its intended use.
  • If installing latching springs: ensure that the springs are fully engaged prior to moving to next connection.
  • If installing wiring systems: Materials and component parts of a manufacturing wiring system as described in Article 604 of the National Electric Code and Underwriters Laboratories Standard for Safety #183 MUST BE installed.

There are two wires labeled LVD+ (white) and LVD- (pink). These are the two wires which control the pillow switch and correspondingly control the LV3 (5STEP nIO) .

Per the wiring diagram above, the white and pink wires exiting the fixture from the 5STEP nIO, or LV3 option should be extended and connected within the provided J-Box (shown below) to the wired jack outlet.

  • Once the J-box is installed in the wall, the pillow switch should connect through this junction box.
  • Connect the two wires – labeled LVD+ (White) and LVD- (pink) to the pillow switch jack and Install the jack into the J box
