LED IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS!
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND DELIVER TO OWNER AFTER INSTALLATION.

  • To reduce the risk of death, personal injury or property damage from fire, electric shock, falling parts, cuts/abrasions, and other hazards please read all warnings and instructions included with and on the fixture box and all fixture labels.
  • Before installing, servicing, or performing routine maintenance on this equipment, follow these general precautions.
  • Installation and service of luminaires should be performed by a qualified licensed electrician.
  • Maintenance of the luminaires should be performed by a person(s) familiar with the luminaires’ construction and operation and any hazards involved. Regular fixture maintenance programs are recommended.
  • It will occasionally be necessary to clean the outside of the refractor/lens. The frequency of cleaning will depend on ambient dirt level and minimum light output which is acceptable to the user. The refractor/lens should be washed in a solution of warm water and any mild, non-abrasive household detergent, rinsed with clean water, and wiped dry. Should the optical assembly become dirty on the inside, wipe the refractor/lens and clean in the above manner, replacing damaged gaskets as necessary.
  • DO NOT INSTALL DAMAGED PRODUCT! This luminaire has been properly packed so that no parts should have been damaged during transit. Inspect to confirm. Any part damaged or broken during or after assembly should be replaced.
  • Recycle: For information on how to recycle LED electronic products, please visit www.epa.gov.
  • These instructions do not purport to cover all details or variations in equipment nor to provide every possible contingency to meet in connection with installation, operation, or maintenance. Should further information be desired or should particular problems arise that are not covered sufficiently for the purchaser’s or owner’s purposes, this matter should be referred to Acuity Brands Lighting, Inc.

The HPS9 is designed to mount to a 2-1/8” deep switch box, flush mounted to the wall surface.

Do not install this luminaire outdoors unless equipped with the ‘WL’ Wet Location option!

Installation Steps

  1. Refer to the wiring diagrams on the next page to determine the appropriate connections for the project.

  2. Connect supply wires to driver input wires (A) per wiring diagram.

  3. Attach mounting plate (B) to the switch box so that driver (A) is located within the box.

  4. Connect polarized plug (D) from luminaire to socket on driver (A).

  5. Align threaded studs (E) with sockets (C) on the mounting plate.

  6. Feed wiring through the hole in the mounting plate while firmly pressing the luminaire so that threaded studs snap in sockets.
Wet Label: Ensure the Gasket (F) is pressed firmly against the wall. Use silicone sealant between the luminaire and the wall to make the switch box watertight.

  7. Thread acrylic diffuser (I) onto fitter (H) being careful to avoid touching the LED module. Do not over-tighten.
Wet Label: Ensure the O-Ring Gasket is seated in the fitter before threading on the diffuser. Do not over-tighten.

Maintenance & Cleaning

No regular maintenance is required. The LED module & driver are non- serviceable components with a 50,000 hours operating life to 70% initial output. At 100,000 hours light output will be approximately 50% of initial. Clean the fixture with a soft cloth moistened with mild soap and water.

Wiring

POWER SUPPLY/DIMMING
