Instruction Manual BW-512 CAR+
IMPORTANT USER TIPS AND SAFEGUARDS
- Read and save these instructions.
- Never use the unit without water in it.
- Do not move an appliance containing hot liquids.
- Do not immerse appliance, cord or plugs in water or other liquid.
- Place the Baby Bottle Warmer out of the reach of children and on a dry, nonslip, horizontal surface.
- Close supervision is necessary when the unit is used near children.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter.
- Do not place on hot surfaces or in a heated oven.
- Only use the Baby Bottle Warmer when the ambient temperature is between +7ºC and +37ºC.
- It is advised to regularly take out the bottle or pot and shake or stir well for an even heating of the content.
- Change the water in the bottle warmer each time after use for hygienic reasons.
OPERATION
-
Fill the reservoir of the bottle warmer up to the short line with tap water.
-
Place the jar (without lid) or bottle into the bottle warmer. Make sure that by doing so the water doesn’t exceed the top of the wide line. You may have to pour some water out of the reservoir.
-
Set the temperature control knob to the desired setting:
• setting 3 for food jars
• setting 1, 2 or 3 for milk, see the next chapter -
Insert the plug into a 230 Volt wall socket.
-
The blue indicator behind the settings knob is illuminated while the heating element is switched on and is turned off when the element is switched off. Depending on the selection of the settings knob, the “on” and “off” periods are longer or shorter.
-
In addition to the selection of the settings knob, the amount of food and the starting temperature (food taken from the fridge or food at room temperature) determine the time required for bringing the food up to the desired temperature.
-
After a few minutes the food will have reached just the right temperature for your baby. Remove the bottle or pot from the container, turn the control knob to ‘OFF’ and disconnect the bottle warmer from the mains.
-
Check the temperature of the contents on the back of the hand first before feeding it to the baby, to ensure that the temperature of the bottle contents are safe for your baby. If the temperature is too hot, use less water in the inside of the bottle warmer. In case the temperature is too low, use more water.
VERY IMPORTANT WHEN WARMING UP MILK
At temperatures above 35°C important nutrients in the (breast) milk will be
lost. That’s why it’s important to not warm up the (breast) milk to higher
than approximately 30/35°C. When not in a hurry, set the settings knob to a
position between setting 1 or 2. The bottle warmer will then switch on the
element for only brief moments and, depending on the amount of milk, it’ll
take 15 to 30 minutes before the milk reaches a temperature of 30 to 35°C.
When using setting 1, you may also leave the bottle in the water for a longer
time (keep warm setting). At this setting, the chance that the milk exceeds a
temperature of 35°C is very small.
If you want to feed your baby earlier, set the knob to a position between
setting 2 or 3, regularly shake the bottle or stir the milk and keep testing
the temperature by dripping some milk on the back of your hand. Remove the
bottle from the bottle warmer immediately and disconnect the plug from the
wall socket when the desired temperature is reached. Never leave the bottle in
the warm water of the bottle warmer longer than is necessary.
Extra warning at setting 3: at this setting the water in the bottle warmer may
start to boil for brief periods of time. In this case, pay attention to hot
water splashes and be careful when removing the bottle from the bottle
warmer.
Examples of warm-up times for 150ml milk from the fridge (10°C) to a drinking
temperature of 30 or 35°C: (when connected to 230V)
Setting 1: | 30°C: 15 minutes | 35°C: 25-30 minutes |
---|---|---|
Setting 2: | 30°C: 8 minutes | 35°C: 12 minutes |
Setting 3: | 30°C: 6 minutes | 35°C: 8 minutes |
Attention, these times are approximates and depend on the material of the bottle, the exact starting temperature of the milk, the amount of milk and the amount of water. Use these times only as a guideline.
When used in your home:
Slide the switch on the backside of the bottle warmer into the position 230VAC
and use the 230V mains power cable when warming the water of the bottle
warmer.
When used in your car:
Slide the switch on the backside of the bottle warmer into the position 12VDC
and use the included 12V cable with car plug when warming the water of the
bottle warmer.
Do not use while driving, please put the car aside the road but keep the
engine running (high power consumption of 5A). Only use the provided 12V
cable.
TO STERILIZE PACIFIERS (ON 230V ONLY)
-
Place the bottle warmer on a stable surface, out of reach of children. make sure that the settings knob is turned counter clockwise, into the position OFF.
-
Fill the reservoir of the bottle warmer up to the short line with tap water.
-
Put the pacifiers you’d like to sterilize down into the bottle warmer.
-
Place the steam cover onto the bottle warmer to both keep the heat inside and to prevent hot splashes from harming you.
KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS STEAM COVER MAY BECOME VERY HOT DURING USE. -
Insert the plug into a 230Volts wall socket.
-
Turn the settings knob clockwise to position MAX.
-
After about 1,5 minute, the water is boiling.
-
Leave the water boiling until after about 1,5 minute the thermostat turns-off the heating element (the blue light around the settings knob goes off).
-
Turn the settings knob counter clockwise to position OFF and remove the power plug from the mains.
-
Attention: the steam cover may become very hot. First wait several minutes until the temperature has decreased sufficiently for you to safely remove the steam cover. Use kitchen pliers (not included) to remove the pacifiers from the bottle warmer.
