CAUTIONS
CAUTION – RISK OF SHOCK:
Disconnect Power at the main circuit breaker panel or main fusebox before
starting and during the installation.
WARNING:
- This fixture is intended for installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all local code specifications. If you are not familiar with code requirements, installation by a certified electrician is recommended.
Failure to adhere to these codes and instructions may result in serious injury and/or property damage and will void the warranty.
CLEANING:
- Always be certain that electric current is turned off before cleaning.
- Only a soft damp cloth should be used. Harsh cleaning products may damage the finish.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
-
Thread decorative ends[V] into couplings on the bottom of the fixture arms as shown. Tighten to secure.
-
On side of fixture with fixture wires, thread long threaded rod[S] into the hex coupler[T] as shown. Repeat on side of fixture without fixture wires.
NOTE: Thread locking compound must be applied to all stem threads as noted with symbol (4) to prevent accidental rotation of fixture during cleaning, re-lamping, etc. -
On side of fixture with fixture wires, carefully slip decorative tube[R] over installed long threaded rod. Repeat on side of fixture without fixture wires.
-
On side of fixture with fixture wires, place end tube cap[P] on top of installed decorative tube.
Repeat on side of fixture without fixture wires. -
On side of fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires through coupler[Q] and thread coupler onto threads protruding from top of end tube cap, applying thread locker where noted with symbol (4). Tighten to secure assembly.
-
On side of fixture without fixture wires, thread coupler[Q] onto threads protruding from top of end tube cap, applying thread locker where noted with symbol (4). Tighten to secure assembly.
-
On side of fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires from coupler through desired number of stems[A] and short threaded tubes[B]. Screw stems together using short threaded tubes, applying thread locker where noted with symbol (4).
-
On side of fixture without fixture wires, screw a second set of stems and short threaded tubes together using short threaded tubes (same number of stems and short threaded tubes from previous step but without fixture wires), applying thread locker where noted with symbol (4).
-
On side of fixture with fixture wires, screw first stem of connected set of stems into coupling[Q]. Repeat on side of fixture without fixture wires.
-
On side of fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires through lower small loop[L]. Screw lower small loop into last stem.
-
On side of fixture without fixture wires, screw other lower small loop into last stem.
-
On both sides of the fixture, connect upper small loop[O] to lower small loop[L] with open locking chain link[M]. Close open locking chain link by threading the nut onto the link end.
-
On side of fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires through upper small loop[O] and into canopy[H].
-
Cut fixture wires a MINIMUM of 20 inches from the top edge of canopy.
-
Pass supply wires from outlet box down through hole in center of mounting plate and attach mounting plate[G] to outlet box[C] using the plate mounting screws[I]. Mounting plate can be adjusted to suit position of fixture.
-
Using the mounting plate as a template, mark the positions for the two (2) drywall anchors[F], one on each side of the mounting plate. Carefully unscrew plate mounting screws and remove plate mounting screws and mounting plate.
-
Use a 3/16″ (4.76 mm) diameter drill bit (not supplied) to drill drywall anchor holes into ceiling. Tap two (2) drywall anchors into drilled holes, one of each side of mounting plate.
-
Pass supply wires from outlet box down through hole in center of mounting plate and re-attach mounting plate[G] to outlet box[C] using the plate mounting screws[I].
-
Secure mounting plate to drywall anchors using the two (2) wood screws[E].
-
Attach the safety cables[D] to the mounting plate or to the inside of the outlet box and secure into place to prevent damage to the wires during wiring.
-
Grounding instructions: (See Illus. a or b).
a. On fixtures where mounting plate is provided with a hole and two raised dimples, wrap ground wire from outlet box around green ground screw, and thread into hole.
b. On fixtures where a cupped washer is provided, attach ground wire from outlet box under cupped washer and green ground screw, and thread into mounting plate.
If fixture is provided with ground wire, connect fixture ground wire to outlet box ground wire with wire connector after following the above steps. Never connect ground wire to black or white power supply wires.
-
Make wire connections. Reference chart below for correct connections and wire accordingly.
Connect Black or Red Supply Wire to:| Connect White Supply Wire to:
---|---
Black| White
Parallel cord (round & smooth)| Parallel cord (square & ridged)
Clear, Brown, Gold or Black without Tracer| Clear, Brown, Gold or Black with Tracer

*Note: When parallel wire (SPT 1 & SPT 2) are used. The neutral wire is square shaped or ridged and the other wire will be round in shape or smooth (See illus.)
-
Raise canopy to ceiling, carefully passing mounting screws[N] attached to mounting plate through mounting screw holes in canopy.
NOTE: Make sure wires do not get pinched between mounting plate and canopy or canopy and ceiling. -
While holding canopy in place, use lock washers[J] and knobs[K] to secure canopy. Tighten to secure.
-
Carefully lower shades[U] over sockets[W] until seated on socket base.
