Cleaning the cushion
Before cleaning or disinfecting the cushion, remove the cover and wash separately (see ‘Cleaning the cover’).
Hand wash:
Inflate just until the cells contain air, then close the valve. Clean the
cushion by hand with soap, bicarbonate or vinegar. Rinse in cold water. After
rinsing, overinflate the cushion and leave to air dry for 24 hours, or dry in
a drying cabinet on low heat.
Machine wash (StarLock and Standard Air only):
Inflate just until the cells contain air, then close the valve. Machine wash
in 60°/140°F for maximum 10 min. Use a mild detergent. Rinse in cold water.
After rinsing, overinflate the cushion and leave to air dry for 24 hours, or
dry in a drying cabinet on low heat. N.B. The cushion must be filled with some
air when washing in machine.
Note: Do not spin-dry or tumble dry. Can be dried in a drying cabinet on low heat.
Star Lock – If there is water in the bulb pump after machine washing, remove the pump and drain the water. Mount the bulb pump again.
Mesh laundry bags that are big enough to loosely fit around the cushion, can be used if additional protection is desired during machine washing.

- Rinse thoroughly
Drying:
After rinsing, overinflate the cushion and leave to air dry for 24 hours, or
dry in a drying cabinet on low heat.
Visual inspection (see pictures)
Visual Inspection :
Inspect the cushion for indications of damage or puncture. If any air is lost
over 24 hours, investigate the source of the leak. If the cushion has no signs
of damage or leaks, then the cushion can be reboxed ready for reuse.
Check for leaks and damage:
4.1. Overinflate cushion.
4.2. Close valve.
4.3. Place cushion under water and watch for stream of air bubbles
flowing from the cushion (this is the hole you need to patch).
4.4. Mark the damaged area with a permanent marker or a toothpick
(punctures).
