IMPORTANT USER TIPS

The final temperature of the milk or food is determined by the amount of water in the bottle warmer. If the temperature is too high, it is recommended to use less water in the bottle warmer. In case the temperature is too low, use more water. It is advised to regularly take out the bottle or pot and shake or stir well for an even heating of the content. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications. This appliance should not be used for direct commercial purposes or operated in moving vehicles. When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed including the following:

  • Read this safety information through carefully before using the appliance and keep it in a safe place.
  • This device may be used by children 3 years of age and older and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacity or lack of experience provided they are supervised or instructed in the safe use of the device and have understood the resulting hazards.
  • Children may not play with the device.
  • Children may not carry out cleaning and user maintenance tasks unless they are aged over 8 and are under supervision.
  • Children under the age of 3 should be kept away from the appliance and the power supply cable.
  • Do not use the baby bottle warmer in the event of obvious defects on the appliance, cable or connector.
  • If the mains cable is damaged, it should be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service department or a similarly qualified person in order to prevent hazards.
  • Mains voltage must match the voltage quoted on the underside of the appliance.
  • Never use the bottle warmer without water in it.
  • Do not move an appliance containing hot liquid.
  • Periodically take the bottle/jar out of the bottle warmer and shake the milk or stir the food to distribute the temperature evenly.
  • Discard the water from the bottle warmer each time after heating a bottle or jar and use fresh water in the next food preparation.
  • Do not warm baby food for too long. For food hygiene reasons, do not exceed one hour.
  • Bottles or jars may not be tightly sealed during heating in the baby bottle warmer otherwise excessive pressure may build up (risk of explosion/material damage).
  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquids.
  • Do not use it outdoors.
  • The appliance may not be operated with an external timer or a separate remote control system like a remote control socket, for example, because the appliance should never leave unsupervised during operation, so that you can intervene in good time if it malfunctions.
  • Only use the appliance for warming baby food in a domestic environment. Incorrect use involves potential hazards to the user.
  • Set up the baby bottle warmer so that it is steady and level and so that your child cannot tip it over or pull it off the table or kitchen counter by its cable.
  • The appliance should never be placed in the vicinity of hot surfaces,in heated ovens or in the vicinity of gas or electrical appliances, as this may cause damage to the appliance.
  • To protect you against an electric shock, the cable should not come into contact with water or cooker hotplates.
  • After warming, stir the contents of the jar. Before feeding your baby, check on the inside of your wrist whether the temperature of the food is safe for your baby. A sensible temperature is around 37°C, which is the same as your own body temperature.
  • After use unplug the appliance from the mains to prevent it from being inadvertently switched on.

OPERATION

To quickly warm up:

  1. Place the bottle warmer on a stable surface, out of reach of children.

  2. Pour water into the bottle warmer. (BW700(BK) 50ml, BW700TWIN 120ml)

  3. Place the jar (without lid) or bottle into the bottle warmer.

  4. Insert the plug into a 230Volts wall socket.

  5. Press the button to switch on the bottle warmer.

  6. Now within 5 seconds, use the M button to select:
    use the button to increase or decrease the recommended warm-up time, see the next page

  7. 5 seconds after making your selection the heating element of the bottle warmer will switch on while the display starts counting down to 0.

  8. When the countdown reaches 0:00, the display starts flashing for 1 minute.
    During this minute, leave the jar or bottle in the warm water.
    Depending on the amount of milk or food, the initial temperature and the material of the bottle or jar, you may have to adjust the warm-up time.

  9. After this minute 5 beeps are emitted while the bottle warmer switches itself off.

  10. Remove the bottle/jar from the bottle warmer and shake the milk or stir the food to ensure an even temperature.

  11. First check the temperature of the food with the back of your hand before feeding your baby, to ensure the food is at a temperature that’s safe for your baby.
    • If the temperature is too low, briefly put the bottle or jar back into the warm water of the bottle warmer. You don’t have to switch the device on again. The water will still be warm enough. Perhaps next time you could increase the warm-up time somewhat.
    • If the temperature is too high, let the milk or food cool down and next time set a somewhat shorter warm-up time.

To slowly heat up:

  1. Place the bottle warmer on a stable surface, out of reach of children.

  2. Place the jar (without lid) or bottle into the bottle warmer.

  3. Fill up the space between the bottle warmer and the bottle or jar with tap water at room temperature. Fill with water until you reach the same level as the milk or food in the jar. When filling, never exceed the maximum mark indicated.

  4. Insert the plug into a 230Volts wall socket.

  5. Press the button to switch on the bottle warmer.

  6. Now within 5 seconds, use the M button to select:

  7.  Use the button to select the starting temperature; for food at room temperature or for food from the fridge.

  8.  5 seconds after making your selection the heating element of the bottle warmer will switch on while the display starts counting down to 0.

  9. When the warm-up time is finished, 5 beeps are emitted and the bottle warmer switches over to the keep-warm feature. The symbool flashes and the food will be kept warm. After this time the bottle warmer switches-off, or press the button to power off earlier.

10. When it is feeding time, remove the bottle/jar from the bottle warmer and shake the milk or stir the food to ensure an even temperature. (press the button in case the keep-warm feature was still in function)
11. First check the temperature of the food with the back of your hand before feeding your baby, to ensure the food is at a temperature that’s safe for your baby.
• If the temperature is too low, briefly put the bottle or jar back into the warm water of the bottle warmer. You don’t have to switch the device on again. The water will still be warm enough. The next time you may want to pour some more water into the bottle warmer.
• If the temperature is too high, let the milk or food cool down and the next time pour a little less water into the bottle warmer.

To defrost:

  1. Place the bottle warmer on a stable surface, out of reach of children.

  2. Place the jar or bottle with the frozen food into the bottle warmer.

  3. Fill up the space between the bottle warmer and the bottle or jar with tap water at room temperature. Fill with water until you reach the same level as the milk or food in the jar. When filling, never exceed the maximum mark indicated.

  4. Insert the plug into a 230Volts wall socket.

  5. Press the button to switch on the bottle warmer.

  6. Now within 5 seconds, use the M button to select

  7. 5 seconds after making your selection the heating element of the bottle warmer will switch on while the display starts counting down to 0.

  8. After the 20 minutes defrosting time, 5 beeps are emitted and the bottle warmer switches itself off.

To sterilize pacifiers:

  1. Place the bottle warmer on a stable surface, out of reach of children.

  2. Pour of water into the bottle warmer. (see the short marking mark)

  3. Put the pacifiers you’d like to sterilize down into the bottle warmer.

  4. Place the steam cover onto the bottle warmer to both keep the heat inside and to prevent hot splashes from harming you.
    KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS STEAM COVER MAY BECOME VERY HOT DURING USE.

  5. Insert the plug into a 230Volts wall socket.

  6. Press the button to switch on the bottle warmer.

  7. Now within 5 seconds, use the M button to select the option

  8. 5 seconds after making your selection the heating element of the bottle warmer will switch on while the display starts counting down to 0. During the sterilizing process, the display icon will rotate.

  9. After the 5 minutes sterilizing time (or longer, the sterilizing lasts untill all the water is evaporated), 5 beeps are emitted and the bottle warmer switches itself off.

  10. Attention: the steam cover may become very hot. First wait several minutes until the temperature has decreased sufficiently for you to safely remove the steam cover. Use kitchen pliers (not included) to remove the pacifiers from the bottle warmer.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Cleaning:
Disconnect the Baby Bottle Warmer from the mains socket (or the cigarette lighter socket) and allow it to cool down. Clean the container and the outside of the Baby Bottle Warmer with a damp cloth. Never immerse the Baby Bottle Warmer in water. Do not use cleaning orscouring agents.
Decalcify:
Hard water deposits must be removed. To do this use white vinegar only. Pour the vinegar into the tank at mid-level, allow to rest until the hard water deposits have been completely eliminated. Rinse well and wipe with a damp cloth.
Warning:
If a fault occurs, consult the Alecto service centre at WWW.ALECTO.NL Under no circumstances should you try to repair the Baby Bottle Warmer yourself; do not dismantle. Servicing should be performed by qualified service personnel only.
