NEXO Dental Handpieces
FEATURES
- The NO RETRACTION structure in the handpiece, prevents suction of oral fluids in the patient’s mouth in the water line of the handpiece at the spray water outlet port.
- The new triple water spray system can cool the treated area and the bur effectively and roundly. Clogging of the spray port is reduced to a minimum.
- The “push button” type of retention makes it easy to change the cartridge.
- Quick coupling parts are easy to load or unload from the dental unit tubing.
- Water spray can be controlled in the quick coupling.
- It offers a better view and angle, improving your efficiency.
- High density cartridge increases cutting efficiency and reduces vibration and noise.
- New handle design, more comfortable to hold and easy to clean.
- Both the handpiece and the quick coupling are sterilizable (up to 135 ºC).
- The handpiece is composed of cartridge, head, handle and handpiece.
- Glass of cellular optical fibers are more bright and durable under repeated sterilization.
- NEXO high and low speed handpieces should be used professionally by dentists to diagnose, cure and operate on patients’ teeth.
CAUTION
Before each use, all instruments and accessories should be inspected for
proper operation.
- When using the handpiece, protect the patient at all times.
- Before each use, make sure that the bur is fully seated and locked in the instrument.
- Use only burs from reputable manufacturers with a shank diameter of 1.59mm~1.60mm, and a maximum overall length of 23mm (0.9”).
- After prolonged use, the handpiece may become noisy, replace the cartridge with a new one distributed by NEXO. Failure to replace the cartridge may result in accidents or damage to the operator’s hearing.
- If the button is pressed while the handpiece cutter is rotating, OVERHEATING will occur. Special caution should be exercised. Special care must be taken during use to keep cheek tissue AWAY from the handpiece pushbutton. Contact with the cheek tissue may cause the pulsator to disengage and patient injury may result.
- NEXO turbines must not be rebuilt. Replacement of the bearings alone could result in unexpected failure and patient injury due to the different factors of new versus old components.
- Burs must be fully inserted into the chuck for proper bur retention. Extended burs could result in bent burs, inadequate cooling or personal injury due to bur ejection.
- Patients with heart disease, pregnant women and infants should exercise caution when using it. At the end of the product’s useful life, the metal can be recycled.
- Storage and transport of the products should be in an environment with the following characteristics: dry, stable (no collisions), clean, at normal temperature and pressure, away from acid gases and other harmful chemicals.
- Maintenance should be performed by professionals.
- Hemophiliacs should exercise caution when using it.
- Patients with pacemakers or physicians should exercise caution when using it.
AIR SUPPLY PRESSURE
Set the pressure at the back end of the handpiece to 206~231 KPa (2.1~2.35
kgfcm2).
If a net use pressure gauge is available, set the air pressure to 241~275 KPa
(2.45~2.8 kgf/cm2) on the drive air pressure gauge on the unit.
Under the above recommended operating pressure, the air consumption is< 1.5
L/min.
CAUTION
- Do not exceed the recommended air pressure. This is important to avoid higher speed which could cause excessive bearing failure.
- To prevent the life of the unit, it is essential to use dry, purified compressed air and to maintain air and water quality by regular maintenance of the compressor and filtration systems. The use of unfiltered hard water will cause early blockage of tubing, connec-tors and spray cones.
- The life cycle of this product should be in accordance with the requirements of the relative local laws.
CAUTIONS ON BURRS
- ISO standard shank diameter is 1.59mm~1.60mm; standard length is 21mm~23mm.
- DO NOT use bent, worn or damaged burs.
- Always use clean burs. Unclean burs may cause unwanted pressure in the chuck.
- Insert a bur all the way into the chuck until it stops.
- DO NOT use short shank end mills.
CHANGING BURS
-
How to remove the burs
Press the button on the head cover with your thumb to make it click, and remove the burr (Fig.1). -
Installing the burs
Insert the bur into the head until it stops. Press the button and continue to insert the bur into the head until it stops. After the bur is held in place in the chuck, push the bur further into the chuck before use to increase the gripping power of the chuck.
CAUTION
- Always keep the drill clean. Dirt and debris in the shank can cause jamming of the chuck, loss of gripping power or premature wear of the chuck.
- Never operate the handpiece without a bur, or the bearing will be damaged.
- Do not remove the bur or press the pushbutton while the unit is in operation.
- Clean and lubricate the handpiece beforehand.
CONNECTING COUPLING TO HANDPIECE
- Remove the coupling: Hold the quick coupling and the handpiece firmly, pull back slightly to remove the coupling.
- Insert the coupling: Insert the quick coupling into the handpiece, and tighten sufficiently.
CONNECTING COUPLING TO HANDPIECE HOSE
Connect the air inlet hose, air outlet hose, air spray hose, water inlet hose and electric cable socket correspondingly to the handpiece hose, and then screw the thread sufficiently.
WATER CONTROL IN THE QUICK COUPLING
The water spray is at maximum when the points are at the same level; the water spray can be controlled until it stops when the control part is turned to the right side (Fig. 2).
LUBRICATION
Provide spray lubricant or other standard spray oil after each use and/or before autoclaving. Remove the handpiece from the dental unit tube and lubricate as follows (Fig. 3):
- Attach a spray nozzle to the lubricant outlet.
- Remove the test burr from the cartridge, then point the single spray nozzle at the cartridge chuck.
- Spray for 1-2 seconds.
NOTICE: Keep the spray can in an upright position.
STERILIZATION
Autoclave sterilization is recommended. HASH
Autoclave sterilization is required after each patient as follows.
AUTOCLAVE:
- Brush off excess dirt and wipe with an alcohol-soaked cloth.
- Remove the handpiece from the dental unit tube and lubricate with spray oil or other standard oil as described under 5. Lubrication.
- Insert the handpiece into a sterilization bag and seal it.
- The sterilization of the drill key is the same as that of the handpiece.
- Sterilize up to a maximum of 134°C, Symbol Sterilization .Do not set the sterilization temperature higher than 134°C.
- Please dry the handpiece by 134 ºC dryer (15 minutes) after high temperature sterilization and disinfection.
- The product should be high temperature sterilized and used on site.
- The handpiece is resistant to at least 250 times of high temperature sterilization and disinfection.
PREPARATION:
- Brush off excess dirt and wipe with a cloth soaked in alcohol.
- Remove the handpiece from the dental unit tube and lubricate spray lubricant or other spray oil as described in the Lubrication section.
- Place the handpiece in a sterilization pouch and seal it.
- Sterilize up to a maximum of 134 °C.
CAUTION
The heating element may be located at the bottom of the chamber, and the
temperature may exceed the set value. To prevent this, place the handpiece in
the center or top tray.
Do not autoclave the handpiece, even if it is bagged, together with other instruments, from which the chemicals are not sufficiently clean. This is to avoid discoloration and/or damage to the plating of the handpiece.
REPLACING CARTRIDGE
Disassembling the cartridge
-
Mount a test drill in the chuck.
-
Place the key in the head cap, turn the key counterclockwise and remove the cap.
-
Push up the test burr and the cartridge is easily removed from the spindle.
-
Clean the inside of the head, when dirty, with MAINTAIN series spray oil.
Inserting the new cartridge -
Place the new cartridge in the rear cap, then insert the cartridge with the cap into the handpiece head.
-
Screw the rear cap securely onto the handpiece head, then use the cap wrench to make sure the cap is
CAUTION
The head screw thread is very fine. To avoid breakage, the use of the first
thread wrench is not recommended. Before inserting a new cartridge, clean the
inside of the head.
