INTENDED USE

  • This appliance is intended for grilling food.
  • Only use the appliance as described in this manual.
  • This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
    • staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
    • farm houses;
    • by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
    • bed and breakfast type environments.
  • This appliance is intended for indoor use only.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Any use of the appliance other than described in this manual is regarded as misuse and may cause injury, damage to the appliance and void the warranty.

IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

General safety instructions

WARNING

  • Ensure you have fully read and understood the instructions in this user manual before you install or use the appliance. Keep this document for future reference.
  • Do not use the appliance if a part is damaged or defective. Replace a damaged or defective appliance immediately.
  • If the power cable or the plug is damaged, return the whole appliance to Solis or to a service centre authorized by Solis for repair

Safety instructions regarding installation

WARNING

  • Do not drop the appliance and avoid bumping.
  • Place the appliance on a stable, flat, heat and moisture resistant surface.
  • Keep a minimum safety distance of 50 cm between the appliance and walls, curtains or other materials and objects and make sure that the air around the appliance can circulate freely.
  • Do not place the appliance in direct sunlight.
  • Before using the appliance, check that the voltage stated on the type plate of your appliance matches your mains voltage. We do not recommend operating the appliance with a multiway plug adapter.
  • Unplug the appliance when it is not in use or unattended, and before cleaning. We recommend the use of a residual current device (RCD safety switch) to ensure additional protection during the use of electrical appliances. It is advisable to use a safety switch with a rated residual operating current of 30 mA maximum. For professional advice consult an electrician.
  • Do not use an extension cable with this appliance.
  • Do not wrap the power cable around the appliance.
  • Do not use a timer or a separate remote-control system that switches on the device automatically.
  • Do not leave the power cable hanging over table edges to prevent the appliance from being pulled down. Make sure that neither the appliancenor the power cord or plug comes into contact with hot surfaces, such as hotplates or a radiator, or that they come into contact with the appliance itself.
  • Never place the appliance in such a way that it is at risk of falling into water or coming into contact with water resp. other liquids (e.g. in or near a sink).
  • Never reach for an appliance that has fallen into water or other liquids:
    • Always wear dry rubber gloves to unplug the appliance before taking it out of the water.
    • Do not start using the appliance again before having it checked for functionality and safety by Solis or a service center authorized by Solis.
  • Do not place the appliance directly under a power outlet.
  • Switch off and unplug the appliance before moving the appliance.
  • Fully unwind the power cable before use
Safety instructions regarding use

WARNING

  • Children must be supervised to ensure that they not play with the appliance.
  • Do not operate the appliance with wet hands.
  • Only use the appliance with the provided accessories or accessories recommended by Solis. Incorrect accessories or misuse can lead to damage to the appliance.
  • Parts of the appliance may get hot during use. When the appliance is operating, only touch the control knobs, the power switch and the grease collecting tray.
  • Do not move the appliance when in use.
  • Do not cover the appliance when in use.
  • Unplug the appliance when it is not in use.
  • Do not place the appliance close to or on surfaces that are not heat and stain resistant. Grease may splash from the grill plates.
  • If the appliance would cause fire, only use fire blankets to extinguish the fire. Never use water to extinguish the fire. Using water could result in flares and short circuit.
  • Never use sharp or pointed objects on the appliance.
  • Pull the plug after every use. Only then, the appliance is fully switched off.
Safety instructions regarding maintenance

WARNING

  • Switch off and unplug the appliance before service and when replacing parts.
  • Let the appliance cool down before cleaning.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids, or place it in a dishwasher.
  • Do not use abrasive chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, acid or acetone when cleaning the appliance. This can damage the appliance.
  • Do not use a sharp object to remove residue on the grill plates. This could damage the surface.
  • Never immerse the appliance in water or place it in a dishwasher.

INSTALLATION

  1. Place the appliance on a stable, flat, and heat and moisture resistant surface.
  2. Remove and discard all packaging materials and hang tags.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  1. Clean the following parts with hot water and mild soap:
  2. Grill plates26
  3. Grease collection tray 3
  4. Drainage for grease 9
  5. Splash guard 1
  6. Spatulas 8
  7. Clean the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth.
  8. Dry all parts with a soft cloth.
  9. Install the drainage for grease 9, the grease collection tray 3 and the grill plates 26 on the appliance. (Image C)
  10. Fully unwind the power cable 5.
  11. Plug the power cable 5 into a power outlet.
  12. Switch the power switch 4 to I to switch on the appliance. The temperature controls qw light up.
  13. Set the temperature controls qw to the maximum position. The temperature controls light up red. 4 When using the appliance for the first time, smoke can occur. This is normal, due to burnt manufacturing residue.
  14. Let the appliance heat up for 10 minutes.
  15. Set the temperature controls qw to 0.
  16. Switch the power switch 4 to O to switch off the appliance.
  17. Unplug the power cable 5 from the power outlet.
  18. Let the appliance cool down.
  19. Clean the appliance according to chapter Cleaning and care.

USING THE APPLIANCE

  1. Install the drainage for grease 9, the grease collection tray 3 and the grill plates 26 back
    on the appliance.

  2. Make sure the grease outlets of the grill plates are aligned above the grease collection tray.

  3. The grill plates click into place when installed correctly.

  4. Place the splash guard 1 into the guide rail at the border of the grill plates 26.

  5. Fully unwind the power cable 5.

  6. Plug the power cable 5 into a power outlet.

  7. Switch the power switch 4 to I to switch on the appliance. The temperature controls qw light up.

  8. Set the temperature controls qw to the maximum position. The temperature controls light up red.

  9. Prepare the desired food for grilling.

  10. Set the temperature controls qw to the desired position. The heating indicators light up red when heating up and turn to green when the set temperature is reached.
    4 The heating element automatically switches on and off during the grilling process to maintain the set temperature.

  11. Grill the food.

  12. Flip the food with the spatula 8. 4 To avoid damage the non-stick coating of the grill plates, never use sharp, pointy or metal kitchen tools or cut the food with a knife on the grill plates. Only use kitchen tools made from heat resistant plastic or wood.

  13. Remove residue on the grill plates 26 with the spatula 8. 4 Empty the grease-collecting tray if full.

  14. Set the temperature controls qw to 0.

  15. Switch the power switch 4 to O to switch off the appliance.

  16. Disconnect the power cable 5.

  17. Let the appliance cool down.

CLEANING AND CARE

We recommend cleaning the appliance after use. To clean the appliance:

  1.  Switch off and unplug the appliance

  2. Clean the following parts with hot water and mild soap:

  4. Grease collection tray 3

  5. Drainage for grease 9

  6. Splash guard 1

  7. Spatulas 8

  8. These parts can also be cleaned in a dishwasher.

  9. Let the appliance cool down.

  10. Clean the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth.

  11. Dry all parts with a soft cloth.
    Never immerse the appliance in water or place it in a dishwasher.

  12. Roll up the power cable 5.

  13. Store the appliance in the original packaging in a dry and enclosed space
