- The temperature is adjustable by means of the but-ton which is located in the middle of the top cover.(Photograph page 3)
- The button’s dial has 8 possible positions. Optimum position : 6-8 according to the type of dough being used.
- Depending on whether you wish to obtain soft, gol-den-brown waffles or crunchy waffles, cooked to your preferred degree of golden-brown, turn the but-ton clockwise according to the degree of browning corresponding to your taste.
- After a few minutes the light will go out (warming-up time), this indicating that the desired temperature has been reached and that the thermostat is working properly.
- The appliance is now ready for use.
Changing the irons
- (Refer to the photograph on page 3)
- Cut the current and allow the irons to cool.
- Slide the 2 sliding pieces (3 p.3) towards the interior to release the irons from the base (5 p.3).
- Using a coin, unscrew the screws (4 p.3) that secure the irons to the case and open the appliance. The irons will detach themselves from the case.
- To put another iron in place, slide the lug located under the handle into the hole in the bump located on the back of the iron before closing the case and securing the two pieces with the screw you remo-ved earlier. Do the same with the other iron and open the appliance two or three times to ensure that eve-rything is well in place.
- The irons can be interchanged without difficulty on any of the cases.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Do not immerse the base of your appliance into water or any other liquid.
- The outside of the appliance only needs to be clea-ned with a damp cloth.
- Remove the irons from the appliance and wash them in hot water with a bit of household cleaner. Certain dishwasher soaps are too strong and risk to damage the anti-stick coating. If necessary, soak the irons for half an hour before wiping them with a sponge. Never soak the appliance in water: this will damage the electrical components.
- Avoid using a brush or a metallic sponge which will scratch the anti-stick coating.
- Place the cooking irons back in the appliance after having dried them.
NOTE: Always clean your appliance as the outer/inner surface will be in contact with food.
PREPARATION OF WAFFLES
Practical advice
- Place the appliance securely on a flat surface and allow it to heat up, with the case closed, until the signal light goes out.
- Open the appliance and generously grease the two plates with a kitchen brush or a cloth. Avoid using anything made of nylon or synthetic fibres that would melt when heated.
- Grease more lightly for the second cooking and nor-mally the subsequent cookings will not require more greasing, or only a little if the quantity of sugar is high.
- Place the balls of dough in the centre of each of the two imprints on the iron.
- Close the appliance and if necessary slowly press the two handles together so that the irons are you ching.
- With the effect of the steam pressure that builds up in the dough, you will then notice a slight lifting of the cover. This is a normal reaction and will not negatively influence the final result.
- Always mix and handle the ingredients at room tem-perature. Oil the irons once when they reach cooking temperature. Irons that are not sufficiently hot = waffles that stick.
- Opening the appliance too soon could split the waffle in two and lead to difficulty removing it from the iron.
- Note, baker’s yeast gives a dough that will double or triple in volume, so use a bowl that is adequately large.
Using liquid dough (batter)
- Use a ladle to pour a sufficient amount of batter to cover the whole area of each imprint on the irons. A ladle equipped with a spout for pouring will be the most practical.
- Close the appliance and turn it over by pivoting it on its base. Doing this, the batter will flow to the bottom of the imprint of the second iron and the waffles will thus have two perfectly formed sides.
Removing the waffles
- To remove the waffles after cooking, we recommend a long two-pronged fork that can be purchased from a kitchen appliance dealer.
- In the absence of such a utensil, use a knitting needle or an ordinary fork, being careful to insert it horizontally into the waffle without touching the anti-stick coating on the irons.
- Mechanical damaging of the anti-stick coating on the plates is not covered by the guarantee.
