561808 PoE-Powered 5-Port Gigabit Switch
The 5-Port Gigabit PoE Passthrough Switch is designed to take power from a PoE
switch and pass both data and electrical power to a number of PoE-compatible
devices via standard Cat5e or Cat6 network cables. Equipped with five Gigabit
Ethernet ports, this switch can: power up to four wireless LAN access points
and bridges, VoIP phones and/or IP video cameras; draw its own power from the
PoE switch it’s connected to; and deliver network speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps.
When you connect the PD port (Port 5) to a PoE-enabled, IEEE 802.3bt/at/af-
compliant PoE switch, the Intellinet Network Solutions PoE-Powered 5-Port
Gigabit Switch uses some of the electric current to power itself and passes
the available surplus power to up to four PoE edge devices, such as IP
cameras, allowing you to realize the full potential of each of the PSE ports
in your data center.

Front Panel
Ports | Description |
---|---|
**1-4** | PSE (power sourcing equipment) ports — compliant with IEEE |
802.3af/at — that you can connect to PoE devices such as VoIP phones and
network cameras. Any Ethernet-compatible non-PoE device can also be connected
to these 4 ports.
**5| PD (powered device) port. When connected to a IEEE 802.3bt/at/af-
compliant PoE injector, midspan or PoE switch, this switch will draw power
from that device; the included power adapter does not need to be used. This
port can also be connected to any standard Ethernet port.
LED| Status| Status Description
---|---|---
Power| Off| No power is supplied to the switch.
On| Power is supplied via the AC adapter or the PD port.
****DATA| Off| No network link is established.
On| A network link has been established.
Flashing| A network link has been established and data packets are being sent
and received.
****PoE**| Off| Port is not supplying power to a connected PoE device.
On| Port is supplying power to a connected PoE device.
Flashing| There is insufficient power for the connected PoE device.
Rear Panel
This switch is equipped with a power connector and a grounding connector. Use
the included power cord to connect the device to an AC outlet. Wire the
grounding
terminal to an earth-grounding object to prevent power spikes.
Power
If using this switch as a passthrough power source for PoE devices on Ports 1,
2,3 and 4, the PD port (5) on this switch can receive up to 95 watts of power
from a connected PoE injector or PoE switch — less if the connected PoE device
isn’t capable of sending that much power on one port. This switch (561808)
will use a few of the incoming watts to power itself. The following table
shows how much power is available to devices at ports 1 through 4 when the PD
port or the supplied power adapter is used.
Powered by | Power Available for PoE Devices Connected to Ports 1–4 |
---|---|
Port 5 (PD port) only | 65 W (IEEE 802.3bt input); 25 W (IEEE 802.3at input); |
10 W (IEEE 802.3af input)
Power adapter| 65 W total
Setup
Connect Port 5 to a PoE injector or PoE switch to power as many as four PoE devices. You can use the external power adapter if you do not have a PoE injector or switch or need the additional power it provides.
