SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
This Clipper Has Been Designed For Household Use Only
RECHARGING
- Remove the clipper, recharging transformer and accessories from the packing material.
- Before the appliance is used for the first time, it should be charged for 3 to 5 hours. After the first charge, it will also take 3 to 5 hours to fully recharge the battery. During charging, the charging indicator is illuminated. The charging indicator will begin to flicker when almost fully charged and may shut off when fully charged.
- Plug the recharging transformer into any convenient electrical outlet at the correct voltage. If clipper 3. Plug the recharging transformer into any convenient electrical outlet at the correct voltage. If clipper is on, turn to off position when charging.
- When clipper is not in use, it may be connected to the transformer and plugged into an outlet to assure maximum power is available when it is next used. This transformer is designed to charge the battery without overcharging.
- The charging indicator light will illuminate when your clipper is in the “OFF” position and connected to its charger. The clipper cannot be overcharged, so you may charge it as often as desired.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If your clipper does not seem to take a charge, check the following before returning it for repair:
- Check outlet operation by plugging in another appliance.
- Make sure the outlet is not connected to a switch which turns the power at the outlet off.
- Be sure the clipper is properly connected to the recharging transformer, all connections are secure and the switch on the clipper is turned “OFF – 0.”
- If your electricity is connected to a master power switch, we suggest the clipper be disconnected from the charger anytime the master switch is off. Leaving the unit plugged into a dead outlet or an unplugged charger will drain the battery.
- If clipper does not run and it is completely charged, turn the unit “ON – I” and pinch or push the blades manually. (Oil may have dried out between the blades, so they may be temporarily stuck together.)
LITHIUM-ION BATTERY REPLACEMENT, CLIPPER DISPOSAL, AND RECYCLING
- For battery replacement send the entire, intact clipper unit to: Wahl Annex 3001 North Locust, P.O. Box 578, Sterling, IL 61081
- Do not attempt to remove the battery. Lithium-Ion batteries can explode, catch fire, and/or cause burns if disassembled, damaged, or exposed to water or high temperatures.
- If you choose not to replace the battery, the entire, intact clipper unit must be disposed. Do not attempt to remove the battery for disposal. Lithium-Ion batteries may be subject to local disposal regulations. Many locations prohibit disposal in standard waste receptacles. Check your local laws and regulations.
- For recycling contact a government recycling agency, waste disposal service, retailer, or visit online recycling sources, such as www.batteryrecycling.com or www.rbrc.org.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE USE AND CARE OF WAHL CLIPPERS
- It is normal for the unit to become somewhat warm during normal use.
- Avoid pressing the blades strongly against the skin, being especially careful around the ears. (The blades should be directed toward the skin at a right angle, but without significant pressure.)
- After cutting damp hair, clean and oil the blades before storing the unit. 3. After cutting damp hair, clean and oil the blades before storing the unit.
- To clean the unit, use either a clean, dry or dampened cloth. DO NOT USE benzine or thinner to clean the unit.
- Do not store the clipper in a wet or moist environment.
- To prolong blade life, do not use clipper on hair that is coated with a permanent wave solution or hair spray.
- Do not touch any of the internal mechanisms. If the unit should need repair, do not repair it yourself. Return it to Wahl Clipper Corporation.
OIL
The blades of your new clipper should be oiled every few haircuts. Simply
place a few drops of Wahl Clipper Oil on the teeth of the blades. Use only the
Wahl Clipper Oil included in the pack. Due to the high speed of your Wahl
clipper, the correct type of oil must be used. Do not use hair oil, grease or
any oil mixed with kerosene or any solvent, as the solvent will evaporate and
leave the thick oil, slowing down the blades. Wahl Clipper Oil is a very thin,
natural oil which will not evaporate and will not slow down the blades.
CORD CARE
The cord should not be used to pull the clipper. Since freedom of movement
needs to be maintained, care should be used to keep the cord untwisted and
unobstructed. When stored, the cord should be coiled and the unit placed in
the original box or storage pouch (if provided), away from children.
GUIDE COMB LISTING
Some kits do not include all Wahl guide combs. Some kits include colored guide
combs for ease in remembering which combs were previously used.
NOTE
- Always start with the largest guide comb, then use shorter combs if a shorter length is desired.
- Cut only a small amount until you become accustomed to how long each guide comb leaves the hair.
- Cut slowly and smoothly. Do not force the clipper through the hair.
Tips and Techniques
When you cut hair, you should visualize the head as if it were divided into
four sections. Image above shows the different sections. Using proper
techniques when moving from one section to the next will help you blend the
sections together for professional looking results.
-
Comb hair and remove tangles. Attach the largest guide comb to the clipper. Make sure the taper lever is in the up position.
-
Start at hairline on side of head and cut up to middle of head. Note: If cut hair is too long repeat with next smaller guide comb.
-
Continue around head repeating step 2.
-
You are now ready to cut the middle portion of the hair.
-
Use the comb with the next highest number than in step 3. Example:If you used a #6 comb in step 3, select comb #7.
-
Continue cutting around middle portion of head as in steps 2 and 3.
-
For cutting top of head, use the comb with the next highest number than in step 6. Start at front bang area.
-
Cut across top of head. Comb hair on entire head to assess if further cutting is necessary.
Brow Trim Guide
- Attach the brow trim guide to clipper
- Starting from just above your nose, slowly guide the clipper to the outside of your face.
For shorter brow trim repeat steps 1 and 2 working from outside face to your nose.
NOTE
NOT ALL WAHL KITS INCLUDE BROW OR EAR TRIM GUIDE
Ear Trim Guide
- Attach ear trim guide to clipper.
- Hold the clipper at a 45-degree angle.
- Use your finger to tilt ear forward away from hairline.
- Slowly trim along the hair line from back to front. Avoid poking eyes.
1ST TIME TO CUT HAIR
The first time you cut hair, cut only a small amount of hair until you become accustomed to the length of hair each guide comb provides.
- Start by attaching the largest guide comb on the clipper.
- Then use shorter combs if a shorter length is desired.
- For uniform cutting, cut at a slow even speed.
Tapering
To remove more bulk from behind the ears, use the left ear tapered guide comb. Start behind the ear and arch the clippers around the ear for a clean line, repeating the steps on the right side using the right ear tapered guide comb.
-
Attach the left ear guide comb to the clipper. Put taper lever in down position.
-
Hold the clipper at a slight angle just back of the ear at the hairline. Hold top of ear down.
-
Move the clipper upward and around the ear.
Repeat the same for the right ear with the right ear guide comb.
Blending
When you want to blend from one section to the next, you will need to practice moving the clipper in an upward rocking motion. This motion will leave the hair slightly longer where the clipper pulls away from the scalp, enabling you to blend between the sections and achieve a smooth transition from one length of hair to the next. This technique will enhance the appearance of your haircut.
-
Blend out any cut lines. Lines may form where you change comb sizes. Use the same comb used in step 3 with taper lever in down position.
-
Using a rocking motion, blend out the middle cut line.
-
Using the comb used in step 8 repeat blending the top outline as in step 10.
Outlining
Then clean up your sideburns, neckline and around the ears.
-
No attachments needed. Push the taper lever up to the close cut position.
-
Start with the sideburns.
-
Continue around ear as shown.
-
Trim neckline as shown.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Wahl 79600-2101P Clipper Lithium Ion Cordless Haircutting & Trimming Combo Kit and Wahl 79600-2101 Clipper Lithium Ion Cordless Haircutting & Trimming Combo Kit?
The Wahl 79600-2101P Clipper Lithium Ion Cordless Haircutting & Trimming Combo Kit includes a 9-piece haircutting kit, while the Wahl 79600-2101 Clipper Lithium Ion Cordless Haircutting & Trimming Combo Kit includes a 5-piece haircutting kit.
What is the difference between Wahl Professional 5 Star Series and Andis Professional?
Both are manufactured by Andis Company and are high-quality clippers. The main difference is that Andis Professional Clippers have wider blades for cutting through thick hair.
How many pieces does the Wahl Professional 5 Star Series come with?
It comes with 10 pieces in total. It comes with 4 guards, 3 scissors, 1 blade guard, 1 blade oil, 1 cleaning brush, and 1 storage case.
Is it corded or cordless?
This product is corded and can be used both corded and cordless. It comes with an AC adapter so you can use it plugged in or you can use it without plugging it in if you have enough battery power left on your battery pack. You will need to plug it in to charge your battery pack if you want to use it cordless again after using it corded first.
Can it run on 220 volts?
Many of these responses are at odds with one another. Emrah and Salman claim that it only accepts 110 volts, but Norman claims that you must purchase a separate charger (97581-1105) that accepts 100 to 240 volts for $10 on Amazon. As a result, all you would need to plug it in is a US-to-EU or another type of converter. On the other hand, Khalid and M.H. claim that the supplied charger is 220 V compatible. However, according to Wahl’s product page FAQ, “The Wahl Consumer line of goods is made specifically for American consumers. (110-120 V). It shouldn’t be applied in other nations “I’m not really sure which response is right, though.
Does a charger come with a clipper kit? Do I need to purchase the charger separately?
A charger is indeed included. It is one that plugs in. The little trimmer is powered by batteries.
Can I cleanly shave my head with this clipper?
When used straight without any combs, it can cut extremely closely, but I don’t believe it can provide a clean shave.
Do the blades need to be oiled? If yes, how frequently?
Yes. After each use, it’s recommended practice to oiling the blades. Just dab the residue, then wipe it away.
Does it show a full charge indicator?
Yes. When completely charged, a light’s color changes.
Can you plug this in even though it isn’t charged?
Not to be used while plugged in. I seem to have read this someplace. Use only after a full charge.
Do these devices have the ability to run solely on power adapters without charging?
Upon charging, the device will function with or without the adapter put in.
