Mounting a Camera or Head
Locate the Double-Sided Platform Screw ( 1) at the very top of the monopod. This is screw has a ¼”-20 thread on one side (smaller side) and a 3/8″-16 thread on the opposite side (larger side). The smaller side is commonly used with cameras, while the larger side is commonly used with a head. To switch the exposed side of this screw, hold the platform at the top of the monopod and turn it counterclockwise. As you spin the platform notice the Double-Sided Platform Screw (1) will also turn until it is released from the top of the monopod. Now, reverse the screw and use the platform to reattach it by turning the assembly clockwise. Connect your camera or head by turning it onto the proper side of the screw until it is tight against the platform. Next, tighten the Grub Screw (3) using the included hex wrench so it contacts with the bottom of your camera or head.
Opening and Closing the Monopod
To open the Air Support place one hand on the Soft, Padded Hand Wrap (4) and place the other near the very top platform of the unit. Now, just pull. The monopod will open. Wherever you stop the Air Support will maintain that height. If you need to extend it more, simply pull it further. To retract the Air Support press-in both of the Pressure Release Buttons (2) while gently pushing down on the monopod. If you have a camera rig attached to the top of the Air Support while retracting it, be sure to support the camera for safety during this process. Also be advised you may not need to push down as the weight of the rig may be enough to retract the monopod. If you release the buttons while retracting the monopod it will stop at that point if the top section has not fully gone down. However, once the entire top section of the monopod has fully retracted the lower sections will also retract even if you let go of the Press Release Buttons (2).
Using the 3-Leg Base & Soft Foot
The Air Support comes with its 3-Leg Base pre-installed. Additionally, a soft monopod foot is installed into the bottom of the 3-Leg Base. You can use the Air Support with the legs folded up so the soft foot will be in contact with the ground, or you can unfold each of the 3 legs to form a more stable ground support. When using the 3-leg base with its legs on the ground you may choose to have a moveable ball joint at the base by sliding the Collar Lock (5) up, or you can lock-in the joint by sliding the Collar Lock (5) down. Choose whichever ball joint position best complements your shooting at the time. Be advised, with the ball joint locked-in the monopod can still rotate. This is very useful for level panning. To close the 3-leg base lift the monopod off the ground, press down slightly on a leg, press and hold the Foot Release Switch (6) for that leg, and then lift the leg up to fold it in. Do this for each of the 3 legs. You can alternatively remove the soft foot and the 3-leg base from the monopod by unscrewing them at the 3/8″-16 Receiver points (8). Then you can reinstall the soft foot directly onto the monopod sans the 3-leg base.
Safety Precautions
- Do not exceed the maximum load specified for this monopod.
- Be advised the higher the weight/load on the monopod the faster it will collapse when the Pressure Release Buttons (2) are pressed. Always keep a hand on the camera rig when adjusting the monopod for security.
- Never let go of the monopod with a camera rig or any product attached to it.
- The Air Support is not water resistant or waterproof. Do not expose it to rain, snow or moisture of any kind as these can damage the internal mechanism and will void the warranty. Never submerge the Air Support.
- Avoid contact with solvents, gasoline, oil, and similar substances.
- The monopod will always extend when it is pulled up and away from its base. If you need to lift and move the monopod without further extending it, hold it by the Soft, Padded Hand Wrap (4) with one hand and hold the top of the monopod with the other hand, and carefully balance it as you move. Or, retract the Air Support before moving it. Then extend it back to the desired position once it is in place.
