Product Usage Instructions

Quick Mesh Setup: Option #1

  1. Connect your legacy GW to the WAN 2.5G port on your AR1840 using the included Ethernet cable.
  2. Connect your AR1840 (Master) to a power source.
  3. Wait for the AR1840 master’s Power LED to light solid green and the 2.4G, 5G, and 6G LED lights solid green.
  4. Place the AR1840 slave about 3 meters from the AR1840 master. Connect the AR1840 slave to a power source.
  5. Wait for the AR1840 slave’s power LED to light solid green and the 2.4G, 5G, and 6G LED lights solid green.
  6. Wait for the AR1840 INTERNET LED to light solid green to all connected AR1840 slaves.
  7. Wait for about 3-4 minutes until mesh pairing is complete and the AR1840 slave’s INTERNET LED lights solid green.
  8. Place your mesh extender(s) in the desired location(s) in the household and ensure that the Signal LED stays solid green.

AR1840 Wi-Fi Router Setup using Kaon Wi-Fi App

  1. Download the Kaon Wi-Fi App from Google Play or the Apple App Store.
  2. Launch the Wi-Fi app and select “Set up manually”.
  3. Go to Wi-Fi settings on your smartphone and connect to your network (AR1840 Wi-Fi Network).
  4. Tap “Find my device” and enter your login information printed on a label on the bottom of the AR1840.

Accessing your AR1840 from WebUI

  1. Connect your PC to the working AR1840 (master mode)’s wireless network (SSID).
  2. Launch a web browser (Internet Explorer or Chrome).
  3. Enter http://192.168.1.1 or http://kaonmesh_[][][][] ([][][][] is the last 4 digits of the working AR1840’s serial number).

Quick Mesh Setup : Option #1
To set up AR1840 Master and Slaves:

  • Step 1. Connect your legacy GW to the WAN 2.5G port on your AR1840 using the included Ethernet cable.
  • Step 2. Connect your AR1840(Master) to a power source.
  • Step 3. Wait for the AR1840 master’s Power LED to light solid green and the 2.4G, 5G and 6G LED lights solid green.
  • Step 4. Place the AR1840 slave about 3 meters from the AR1840 master. Connect the AR1840 slave to a power source.
  • Step 5. Wait for the AR1840 slave’s power LED to light solid green and the 2.4G, 5G and 6G LED lights solid green.
  • Step 6. Wait for the AR1840 INTERNET LED to light solid green to all connected the AR1840 slaves.
  • Step 7. Wait for about 3-4 minutes until mesh pairing is complete and the AR1840 slave’s INTERNET LED lights solid green
  • Step 8. Place your mesh extender(s) in the desired location(s) in the household and ensure that the Signal LED stays solid green.

Note: You’ll get the best signal when it is in an open space like on a shelf or a table.

Quick Mesh Setup: Option #2 → Mobile App

Step 1. Download the Kaon Wi-Fi App

  • Scan the unique QR code below, or go to Google Play or the Apple App Store to download the Kaon WiFi app.
  • Install the app on a compatible iPhone or Android smartphone.

Follow the step-by-step instructions on the App to connect your home gateway2.

  • Step 2. Launch the Wi-Fi app. Select Set up manually
  • Step 3. Go to Wi-Fi settings to connect to your network (AR1840 Wi-Fi Network)
  • Step 4. Tap Find my device, enter your login information printed on a label on the bottom of the AR1840 and tap Login. You can see the dash board of the app after you successfully set up your Wi-Fi network.
  • Step 5. Add AR1840 to an existing Wi-Fi network, tap icon on the top right hand corner of the dashboard. Tap “ ” to add new AR1840 and scan QR code printed on a label on the bottom of the AR1840, then tap Create Mesh.
  • Step 6. Customize the network name and password. Tap icon on the top right hand corner of the dashboard, and select the Wi-Fi settings to create your own network name (SSID) and password.

Note: If your device disconnects from the Wi-Fi network, view the available Wi-Fi network and then choose the new network name (SSID) and enter the new password.

Accessing your AR1840 from WebUI

Step 1. Access the web-based setup.

  • Connect your PC to the working AR1840 (master mode)’s wireless network (SSID).
  • WebUI address, ID and the password are located at the label at the bottom of your device.
  • Launch a web browser (Internet Explorer or Chrome).
  • Enter http://192.168.1.1 or http://kaonmesh_[][][][] ([][][][] is the last 4 digits of the working AR1840’s serial number) in the address bar, then press.
  • Enter the default user name, “admin” and “password”, password in the fields.

Note : You can view and change your Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password, and see all your AR1840 configured as a mesh network (master and slave mode) in your Wi-Fi.
