Notes on primary and secondary batteries
- Batteries / rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
- Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk that they could be swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
- Leaking or damaged normal/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin can cause acid burns; therefore, use suitable safety gloves.
- Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into fire. There is a danger of explosion!
- Do not recharge conventional non-rechargeable batteries; risk of explosion! Only recharge rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
- Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to plus and minus signs).

Assembly
The radio wall clock is hung on the wall.
- There is a suspension eye on the back of the device for wall mounting.
- Secure the clock in place with a screw or a nail that protrudes a few millimetres from the wall. Then hang the clock on it with the suspension eye.
To ensure correct DCF reception, the radio-controlled wall clock should not be placed next to electronic devices, cables, metal parts, etc.
Inserting/replacing batteries/rechargeable batteries
- Open the battery compartment (4) at the back of the housing and insert two new type AA/Mignon batteries, observing the correct polarity.
- The correct polarity is indicated in the battery compartment.
- Next, the radio wall clock attempts to receive the DCF signal (see chapter “DCF Reception”).
- Close the battery compartment (4) again.
- It is necessary to replace the batteries when the contrast in the LC display fades or the clock stops working.
Use of rechargeable batteries is possible. However, the lower operating
voltage (rechargeable battery = 1.2 V, battery 1.5 V) and lower capacity will
reduce the operating time.
When no concrete indicator appears in the LC display or the clock can no
longer be operated, please press the RESET button (3) on the back of the case
to activate the reset function. In doing so, the internal processor is reset
and returns to normal operation.
DCF reception
After inserting the batteries, the clock hands move to the reception position
(at 12:00), and the first search for the DCF signal begins. After the signal
is successfully received, the clock hands automatically move to the current
time and the current date will be displayed in the LC-Display.
The detection and analysis of the DCF signal can take three to twelve minutes.
Do not move the radio wall clock during that time. Do not press any buttons or
switches!
Poor DCF reception can occur, for example, due to metallised insulated glass,
reinforced con-crete buildings, coated special wallpapers, proximity to
electronic devices or in cellars.
If after 12 minutes, the pointers are not running on the current time or at
the wrong time, you can change the position of the radio clock and press the
RESET button to reset the clock.
The reception attempt for the daily automatic synchronisation with the DCF
time is done several times a day. One success-ful reception per day is
sufficient to keep the deviation to less than one second.
When the DCF signal is successfully received, the DCF sym-bol (5) appears
permanently in the LC display. Additionally, the summertime symbol (6) appears
during summertime.
The DCF signal is encoded and transmitted via a DCF trans-mitter in
Mainflingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range cov-ers up to 1500 km and, and
under ideal reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the precise time (theoretically, a
deviation of one second in a million years!) and the date.
Manual DCF reception attempt
- To perform a manual search for the DCF signal (e.g. when you have changed the location of the radio wall clock), press the button REC (2) and hold it for about three seconds.
- Then release the button REC (2) again.
- Accordingly a manual reception attempt will be started and the DCF symbol (5) flashes. Then, as de-scribed above, wait until the current time is displayed and the DCF symbol (5) is displayed permanently.
- Press the button REC (2) again for about three seconds to cancel the manual DCF reception attempt.
Setting the time manually
The manual time setting is required if the radio wall clock is operated
outside of the DCF recep-tion range or if the DCF reception is disturbed due
to environmental conditions.
- Press the TIME SET button (1) for about three seconds, until the indicator of year in the LC display flashes.
- Set the year by pressing the button REC (2).
- To confirm, press briefly the TIME SET button (1) and set up one by one the month, date, hour, and minute with the button REC (2).
- Press briefly the TIME SET button (1) after each set-up to confirm the input.
- Set the display language for the indicator of the day of the week by pressing the button REC (2):
- GER = German
- NED = Dutch
- FRE = French
- DAN = Danish
- ITA = Italian
- ENG = English
- ESP = Spanish
- Press briefly the TIME SET button (1) to confirm.
During the setting process, you can keep pressing the button REC (2) to perform a faster change of the values.
When no button is pressed for 30 seconds, the clock returns to the previous display.
Display features
Press the REC (2) button briefly to rearrange the format of the date display (month/day or day/month).
Maintenance and cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled
for any reason. Please use a soft, dry, clean cloth for cleaning.
Do not use aggressive detergents as these can cause discolouration of the
case.
Disposal
Product
This symbol must appear on any electrical and electronic equipment placed on
the EU market. This symbol indicates that this device should not be disposed
of as unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
Owners of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) shall dispose
of it separate-ly from unsorted municipal waste. Spent batteries and
accumulators, which are not enclosed by the WEEE, as well as lamps that can be
removed from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner, must be removed by end
users from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner before it is handed over to a
collection point. Distributors of electrical and electronic equipment are
legally obliged to provide free take-back of waste. Conrad provides the
following return options free of charge (more details on our website):
- in our Conrad offices
- at the Conrad collection points
- at the collection points of public waste management authorities or the collection points set up by manufac-turers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG
End users are responsible for deleting personal data from the WEEE to be
disposed of.
It should be noted that different obligations about the return or recycling of
WEEE may apply in countries outside of Germany.
(Rechargeable) batteries
Remove batteries/rechargeable batteries, if any, and dispose of them
separately from the product. According to the Battery Directive, end users are
legally obliged to return all spent batteries/rechargeable batteries; they
must not be disposed of in the normal household waste. Batteries/rechargeable
batteries containing hazardous substances are labelled with this symbol to
indicate that disposal in household waste is forbidden. The abbreviations for
heavy metals in batteries are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name on
(rechargeable) batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your
municipality, our stores or whe-rever (rechargeable) batteries are sold. You
thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to environ-mental
protection.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries that are disposed of should be protected
against short circuit and their exposed terminals should be covered completely
with insulating tape before disposal. Even empty batteries/rechargeable
batteries can contain residual energy that may cause them to swell, burst,
catch fire or explode in the event of a short circuit.
