Introduction
Controlling this recessed light requires a ZigBee hub that is compatible. Connect your smart led to a ZigBee hub, such as SmartThings, Wink, or Amazon Echo Plus, that is compatible. Use your smartphone to dim and alter the white color temperature, which ranges from soft white to daylight (2700K to 6500K). You may improve your vision while working in the kitchen or create the ideal romantic dinner illumination with the help of adjustable white color temperature. Most typical 5″ or 6″ recessed cans will fit. Spring clips, a screw-in base, a built-in LED smart light, and white plastic trim are all included for simple installation. Not to be used with traditional in-wall dimmer switches; dimmable through compatible app. By connecting a Google Home or Amazon Echo smart speaker to your compatible ZigBee hub, you can integrate voice control.
By requesting to switch the lights on and off, dim them, and more when your hands are filthy or occupied cooking, you may benefit from hands-free lighting control in the kitchen. You can control your lights from your smartphone, set schedules and automations to meet your daily patterns, and monitor them whether you turned a light on accidentally or want to turn them on before you get home from work. When utilizing an alternative compatible ZigBee hub, the OSRAM LIGHTIFY Gateway is not necessary. Smart lights using the ZigBee protocol cannot be paired with voice assistants like the Google Home or Amazon Echo Dot directly. We would like you to be aware of our new name and packaging style.
The SMART+ RTS/6 LED Recessed Kit is designed to be installed in standard 5″ or 6″ insulated and non-insulated recessed downlight housings. For a list of compatible housings, please refer to www.SYLVANIA.com/RT6.
NOTE: It may be necessary to remove a socket mounting plate for adequate clearance in the compatible housing. Each lamp holder shall be installed only in its intended manner and orientation. Not all existing recessed housings that meet this requirement will be compatible with the SYLVANIA SMART+ RT5/6. To ensure compatibility, a test installation should be conducted.
Minimum distance between edge of Recessed Kit and top of the housing or other obstruction. (figure1)

FAQs
I’m missing the pigtail to plug the light into the recessed can instead of the bulb. Where can I buy the pigtail?
I added the production the list. I hope that is what you are looking for. (E26 Socket Adapter, Medium Base Screw In Light Bulb Socket Pigtail for Led Ceiling Lights Downlight Retrofit Power Adapter Black (6 Pack).
Recessed light, if you turn the lights off via the app, are you able to manually turn the light back on using the wall switch?
Yes, however, since the light was turned off via the app the wall switch will be in the “on” position. You would need to toggle the light switch to the “off” position and then turn it to the “on” position to turn the light back via the wall switch.
Can you take the trim off these lights? I want to be able to paint them.
Yes, the trim is removable. Sylvania 75095, 75097, 75098, and 75099 are accessory versions in dark beige, black, bronze and silver.
I am going to put these lights in a room that currently does not have ceiling lights installed. Do I need to order a recessed lighting housing kit?
These lighting kits are meant to fit 5 or 6 inch recessed lighting cans. They use a normal light bulb base (e26) to screw into the ceiling can fixture, and the clips on the sides to keep them in place within the housing. In order to use these, you would need to have this set up in place to install the lights and power them on.
Will these lights work with iftt?
As long as your hub supports IFTTT, then sure.
Do you guys have the canless version of this?
As far as I know Sylvania does not manufacture a can less version of these.
with these work with smartthings as well as the existing wall switch? I want them to replace the failing installed led lights in my ceiling.
Yes, these will work with the SmartThings hub. You can use them with an existing wall switch, however with these you would keep the light switch always on and control them through the SmartThings app. If you have integrated Alexa or Google with SmartThings then you can also control them with your voice.
I do not use Alexa or google assistant. Would the google home, google hub or Sylvania smart Wi-Fi work with these bulbs?
This light requires a ZigBee-capable hub.
can this be installed outdoors and is this a complete kit, right now I have flush mounted light?
I see no reason why it could not be used in an outdoor overhang or patio. They are not designed for a wet location. As for complete kit I’m not sure what you mean. It is designed to go into an existing ‘can’ light fixture…either 5 or 6 inches in diameter.
What hub do I need? Do I even need a hub?
The simplest answer might be “you need the Sylvania Lightify hub” and “you can also use a Philips Hue hub”, but other ZigBee hubs should work. More generally, something has to send messages to a ZigBee network. Some of the home automation devices can do that for themselves; see this product description and the description of the home automation device. Smart phones, tablets, etc. can’t send messages to a ZigBee network. ZigBee wall plate controls don’t function as a hub AFAIK and a separate hub is needed, check the control manual for details.
Do you have to purchase gateway to use the light bulbs?
You do not need the LIGHTIFY gateway, however some type of compatible ZigBee hub is required to pair and control these lights.
My switch is a dimmer switch; can I still use these if I don’t dim using the dimmer switch?
unfortunately it will not.
Can these lights dim and keep the color temperature?
Yes, you can dim and change the color (temperature) of these lights, but you will need to pair them with a ZigBee hub like Hubitat or SmartThings. They will not work with a regular wall dimmer.
Does this work with the Sylvania smart Wi-Fi and google home apps like the other Sylvania bulbs? I don’t use the google assistant app.
You would need an Alexa voice assistant with a built-in ZigBee radio (such as the Echo 4th gen). You can use the Alexa app to pair and control the kit, and you can voice control it using the Echo assistant.
Is this osram 73742 tunable white only or this particular product has full color. the description and the review are very confusing. please clarify
