Installing Updates
Occasionally, you’ll receive a notification that there are new updates to be installed. These updates include new features, security improvements, and general bug fixes. To ensure that your Wink HUB and app continue working like they’re supposed to, it’s important that you run these updates as soon as they become available. If the app needs updating, you can use it again the moment the update has completed. HUB updates should take roughly 15 minutes, depending on your internet connection or how long it’s been since you last updated. The app will indicate when the HUB has completed the upgrade and is back online.
Troubleshooting
If at any point during the set up process you’d like to start over, simple unplug your Wink HUB and plug it in again. Or, later on, if you’d like to redo the set up of your entire system, you can return to square one by deleting every product that’s connected to your Wink HUB before deleting the Wink HUB itself from your account. From there, you can build it up again from scratch.
If your Wink HUB is offline, there are a few things you can do. First, check that you have an internet connection. If you do, and the Wink HUB is still offline, you may need to restart your router, and make sure that it’s between 5 to 15 feet away from your Wink HUB. If that doesn’t work, power cycle your Wink HUB, and try again.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you manage user codes while using a Schlage Connect Camelot touchscreen deadbolt with an integrated alarm instead than merely locking and unlocking the door?
You can set/reset user codes, receive notifications when specific user codes are used, and create reminders to delete user codes at particular times, all of which are possible.
Can you use the app to operate numerous Wink hubs, each in a separate location?
You can, indeed. A single account may be used to deploy and manage several hubs.
Will sprinkler systems be compatible with this?
I am compatible with the majority of Z Wave-enabled gadgets. Many different interfaces can be integrated. A crude method would be to power the solenoids using their plug-in power relay modules (step down transformer needed) They provide a list of goods that are compatible when you visit their website and download the App. Although the list frequently lags in the most recent updates, I recently purchased a GE Light Switch that is not listed but works.
Does Wink support X10 hardware? I was unable to uncover any information regarding x10 or whether it is the same technology now known by a different name.
It does not support X10 or INSTEON, the replacement for X10. It works with WiFi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, and Lutron ClearConnect.
Is an Insteon switch compatible with the Wink hub?
The Wink hub does not support Insteon or its predecessor, x-10. The zigbee, z-wave, lutron clear connect, kidde, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi radios are all present in the Wink hub.
What is the hub’s range?
For lack of knowledge, I am unable to provide you with a distance in feet. We do, however, live in a vintage home from 1924 with thick walls made of plaster, wood, and horse hair, and it works incredibly well in our modest 2000+ square foot home! I would advise you to get a range extender if you need extra range. They also function quite well.
Can you set an auto-lock timer for the Schlage Connect Camelot touchscreen deadbolt with built-in alarm?
Yes. On your Wink Hub, you can construct something known as a “Robot.” Any workflow is automated by a robot. The hub can be configured to lock the door automatically after a specified period of time if it has been left unlocked. It might also alert you.
Support for wpa and other reasonable Wi-Fi protocols (not wep) is offered by the product?
Yes. The Hub’s initial capability for authentication was limited to WPA2-PSK (AES). Now that WEP and open authentication are supported by the hub, you can only use WPA2-PSK. But you should know that it only works with 2.4 GHz networks (no 5 GHz support).
Can TCP-connected light bulbs be used with the Wink Hub without a TCP Hub?
No. You require a TCP hub. The TCP Connected lights’ connectivity protocol, 6LoWPAN (more specifically, JenNet-IP), is not natively supported by the Wink hub.
Does the notification specify the key or person who opens the doors?
It does, indeed. You give people codes, and a notification lets you know when the door is opened. Codes may also be revoked.
Is the Wink update still bricking these? One I purchased won’t connect?
No, the Wink App still supports these. I think you’re referring to the no longer supported Wink Sensor, which had a similar appearance but was only a sensor.
Can I use this without Alexa, Siri, or Echo? I’m not going to utilize those ever.
The front door will be locked using Alexa! Because unlocking is not supported, robbers cannot use the unlock command to access your home. With SIRI, it does not function.
Do you need internet access? Can a hot spot be connected to the hub?
Yes. This hub has a wifi connection. It will connect to it if there is wifi.
Does Google Home support this?
The Wink does function with Google Home, according to both the Wink Blog and the Google Product forums.
Does a Yale lock work with the Wink Hub?
I used mine with a Kwikset electronic lock, however I’m not sure how a Yale lock would work. You may certainly learn more on the Wink website.
