Culver Table and Set Care Instructions

This Culver Table is handmade out of DuralCrete, which is an organic material influenced by light and daily use. This can result in brighter or darker surfaces as well as differences in structure and surface; there may be areas with small insignificant holes in the surface and the edge of the table. These special characteristics do not affect the furniture’s lifespan, quality and durability and is not indicative of errors or defects in the table.

DAILY USE: DuralCrete has an open pore structure. This makes the table sensitive to grease, liquids, colour, etc. The DuralCrete tabletop surface was treated in the factory increasing its resistance to stains, but should be maintained 1-2 times a year with a cement sealer. Small scratches can easily be removed with DuralCrete protection (see below image insructions). Calcium spots can be treated in the same way.
Every furniture contains a small bottle of DuralCrete protection.

It is important that the table is immediately cleaned if spills occur. Otherwise, there may be spots and blotches. DuralCrete should not be exposed to acid or acidic products; including red wine, juice, lemon, etc. as these may cause stains if it is not immediately removed. DuralCrete must not be exposed to very hot or very cold items, as condensation may form by prolonged exposure, therefore, always use a place mat. Grease and dirt on the table top can cause stains and the effect of the sealer can be broken down.

CLEANING THE TABLE TOP

DuralCrete should be cleaned with an ordinary soap solution of PH neutral soap. Afterwards, wipe with a soft cloth. Do not use chemicals, acidic products or solvents to clean the table. If the table top takes a long time to dry after cleaning, it is an indication that it needs to be treated with cement sealer again to maintain its durability. DO NOT leave wine/drink glasses unattended on table surfaces. The curvature of some glasses can act as a magnifying glass for the sun’s rays and damage the table surface.

ACACIA WOOD

When exposed to rain or a humid environment, the Acacia wood will expand. When exposed to sun or a dry air environment, it will contract. Exposure to these elements can cause minor cracks, chips, peels, or splinters in your Acacia furniture. This process is called warping and it is natural and unavoidable. However, with regular cleaning using a soft cloth and water, you can maintain your Acacia furniture and increase its use.

MAINTENANCE OF ACACIA WOOD OAK WASH OIL FINISH

For pieces of furniture which have been produced with a light brushed Oak wash finish, small scratches will blend into the existing finish. If you are unable to avoid a deep scratch in the surface of your furniture, you should visit a home improvement shop to buy a wood repair marker, or wood repair pencil. Find a color that best matches your piece of furniture, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to match the color of the wood in the scratch to the rest of the finish.
Do not sand down the piece of furniture. If you sand the furniture, you will sand off the top layers, exposing the lighter color underneath; damaging the furniture permanently. If you would like to restore the finish of an entire piece, please seek the help of a professional.

COVERS: We recommend buying protective covers that go on your furniture while outdoors. Ideally, you should store your furniture when not in use. However, if this is not possible, use waterproof covers that also block UV rays. Most covers are made of synthetic materials and come with adjustable straps and fasteners to hold them in place. Avoid covering the furniture with protective covers for long intervals, as this can cause mold or mildew to build up on the furniture.

PROTECTIVE SURFACES: Lastly, consider placing protective surfaces on the bottom of your furniture legs to keep your furniture looking its best and lasting longer. Acacia furniture is made of wood which can rot. Furniture legs are most vulnerable, as they rest on wet surfaces. To prevent rot from affecting your furniture, we recommend placing rubber caps on the bottom.

STORAGE DURING WINTER: The furniture must be stored in a dry place and must be covered. You need to prevent condensation from getting between the DuralCrete tabletop and cover. If the cover freezes to the tabletop, it can permanently damage it. Do not store your furniture outside exposed to the winter weather.
Follow these care instructions and your furniture will provide years of use.
