IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using this appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: Read all instructions before, and follow whilst using this appliance.

To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse the power cord, plug or iron in water or any other liquid.

Do not use outdoors or in damp or moist areas.

Do not touch hot surfaces, always use the appliance handles.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

This appliance must be attended whilst plugged in.

Ensure the iron is standing on its heel and with the soleplate clear of any surrounding objects when switching on.

Ensure the iron is unplugged during filling and emptying.

Always turn off and unplug from the wall power outlet when not in use.

To avoid possible burns, ensure the appliance is off and has cooled before cleaning.

To disconnect, turn off the wall power outlet, then grasp and pull the plug from the wall outlet. Never pull by the cord.

Do not operate this appliance with a damaged cord/plug or after the appliance has been
dropped, is leaking, damaged or has malfunctioned in any manner.
Contact Customer Service for examination, adjustment, repair or replacement. -
There are no user serviceable parts. If repairs are required, they must be performed by the manufacturer or a suitably qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

Keep the appliance and the power cord away from the edge of tables or countertops and out of reach of children and persons with reduced physical, sensory and mental capacities.

BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
- Remove labels, stickers and packaging from the iron and soleplate.
- Don’t worry if the iron smokes a bit at first, it’ll stop as the element cures.
- Iron an old piece of cotton fabric, to clean the soleplate.
AUTO SHUT-OFF
- If the iron is motionless, it will switch off after about 30 seconds with the soleplate down, or about 8 minutes if it’s upright.
- To switch on again, lift it up, tilt it forward, then sit it upright to return to operating temperature.
FILLING
You may use the iron with tap-water, but if you live in a hard water area, you
should use distilled water (not chemically descaled or softened water).
If you buy distilled water, check that it’s suitable for use in irons.
- Unplug the iron.
- Set the temperature control to •. Set the steam control to
- Open the cover.
- Pour slowly, to let the air in the reservoir escape, otherwise you’ll cause an air lock and the water will overflow.
- Don’t fill past max, or water will escape in use.
- Wipe up any spillage.
SWITCH ON
- Set the temperature control to •. Set the steam control to
- Sit the iron on its heel.
- Put the plug into the power socket (switch the socket on, if it’s switchable).
- Turn the temperature control to bring the setting you want next to the 9mark. The light will come on.
- When the iron reaches the temperature you set, the light will go off. It’ll then cycle on and off as the thermostat operates to maintain the temperature.

If the instructions on the fabric label differ from this guide, follow the instructions on the label.
STEAM IRONING
- If you intend to use steam, the temperature setting must be or higher.
- Set the steam control to the setting you want ( = no steam, = high).
- Wait till the light goes off, then start ironing.
SPRAY
Water spotting affects some fabrics. Test this out on a hidden part of the fabric.
- Lift the iron off the fabric.
- Aim the spray nozzle at the fabric.
- Press the button – you may have to press it 2 or 3 times to pump water through the system.
BURST OF STEAM
- If you intend to use steam the temperature control must be at or higher.
- Lift the iron off the fabric.
- Press the button.
- Leave 4 seconds between bursts, to let the temperature build up.
DRY IRONING
If you’re going to be dry ironing for 20 minutes or more, empty the reservoir first, to avoid spontaneous bursts of steam.
- Set the steam control to
- Wait till the light goes off, then start ironing.
VERTICAL STEAMING
Remove wrinkles from hanging clothes, hanging curtains, and furnishing fabrics.
- Check that there’s adequate ventilation behind the fabric, otherwise moisture may build up,causing mildew.
- Check that there’s nothing behind the fabric that may be damaged by the steam.
- Check that pockets, turn-ups, and cuffs are empty.
- Check that there’s water in the reservoir.
- Set the temperature control to max. Set the steam control to
- Hold the iron close to (but not touching) the fabric.
- Press the button (you’re using the “burst of steam” function vertically).
- Leave 4 seconds between bursts, to let the temperature build up.
AFTER USE
- Set the temperature control to •. Set the steam control to
- Unplug the iron.
- Open the cover.
- Hold it over a sink, turn it upside down, and drain the water from the reservoir, via the water inlet.
- Close the cover.
- Sit the iron on its heel.
- Leave it to cool down completely.
- When it’s cold, wipe off any moisture, and wind the cable round the heel.
- Store the iron on its heel, to avoid corrosion and damage to the soleplate.
SELF CLEAN
To avoid scale build up, use the self clean function at least monthly in
normal water areas, more often in hard water areas.
Products returned under guarantee with faults due to scale will be subject to
a repair charge.
You’ll need a basin or a large bowl to catch the water coming out of the
soleplate.
- Fill the reservoir to the max mark.
- Set the temperature control to max. Set the steam control to
- Sit the iron on its heel.
- Put the plug into the power socket and wait till the light goes out.
- Hold the iron over the basin or bowl with the soleplate down.
- Press the and hold it down.
- Gently move the iron to and fro, over the basin or bowl.
- Water and steam will wash scale and dust through the soleplate, and into the sink.
- When the reservoir is empty, release the button.
CLEANING
- Unplug the iron, and sit it on its heel to cool.
- Clean the outside surfaces of the appliance with a damp cloth.
- Remove spots from the soleplate with a little vinegar.
ANTI-SCALE
- The anti-scale agent incorporated in the iron helps prevent the build-up of scale.
- Don’t use a descaling solution, or you’ll destroy the anti-scale agent.
DISPOSAL/RECYCLING
Legislation in some localities mandates that e-waste (anything with a plug, battery or cord) is disposed of through controlled recycling facilities and must not be disposed of in general household waste. For more information about recycling of electrical and battery operated appliances, please contact your local council or your local household waste disposal service

Australian Consumer Law means the Australian consumer law set out in Schedule 2 to the Competition and Consumer Act 2010;

CGA means the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993;
Goods means the product or equipment which was accompanied by this warranty and purchased in Australia or New Zealand, as the case may be; -
Manufacturer , We or us means:

for Goods purchased in Australia, Spectrum Brands Australia Pty Ltd ABN, 78 007 070 573; or

. for Goods purchased in New Zealand, Spectrum Brands New Zealand Ltd, as the case may be, contact details as set out at the end of this warranty;

Supplier means the authorised distributor or retailer of the Goods that sold you the Goods in Australia or in New Zealand; and
You means you, the original end-user purchaser of the Goods.- Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, or the CGA. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
- The benefits provided by this Warranty are in addition to all other rights and remedies in respect of the Goods which the consumer has under either the Australian Consumer Law or the CGA. The original purchaser of the Goods is provided with the following Warranty subject to the Warranty Conditions:
- We warrant the Goods for all parts defective in workmanship or materials from the date of purchase, for the period of 2 years from the date of purchase (Warranty Period).
If the Goods prove defective within the Warranty Period by reason of improper workmanship or material, we may, at our own discretion, repair or replace the Goods without charge.
Warranty Conditions
* The Goods must be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. This Warranty does not apply should the defect in or failure of the Goods be attributable to misuse, abuse, accident or non-observance of manufacturer’s instructions on the part of the user. As far as the law permits, the manufacturer does not accept liability for any direct or consequential loss, damage or other expense caused by or arising out of any failure to use the Goods in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
* Exhaustible components (such as batteries, ironing board cover, filters and brushes) of the Goods are included under this Warranty only where there is a defect in workmanship or materials used.
* The warranty granted under clause 3 is limited to repair or replacement only.
* Any parts of the Goods replaced during repairs or any product replaced remain the property of the manufacturer. In the event of the Goods being replaced during the Warranty Period, the warranty on the replacement Goods will expire on the same date as for the Warranty Period on the original Goods which are replaced.
* In order to claim under the warranty granted under clause 3 you must:
(a) Retain this warranty with your receipt/proof of purchase; and
(b) Return the Goods to us at the relevant address or to the Supplier by
prepaid freight within the Warranty Period accompanied with (i) the legible
and unmodified original proof of purchase, which clearly indicates the name
and address of the Supplier, the date and place of purchase, the product name
or other product serial number and (ii) this warranty.
* This warranty is immediately void if:
(a) Any serial number or appliance plate is removed or defaced;
(b) The Goods have been serviced or otherwise repaired by a person not
authorised to do so by us or where non approved replaced parts are used.
* The Goods are designed for domestic use only. The Goods must be connected to the electrical voltage requirements as specified in the ratings label located on the Goods.
* This warranty does not cover the cost of claiming under the warranty or transport
of the Goods to and from the Supplier or us.
* This warranty is only valid and enforceable in Australia against Spectrum Brands Australia Pty Ltd and in New Zealand against Spectrum Brands New Zealand Ltd.
