Removal
Steering Joint – Disconnect
Disconnect the steering joint (CLICK HERE).
NOTE: Hold the steering wheel in the steering wheel holder tool.
A/C Compressor – Remove
Remove the A/C compressor without disconnecting the A/C hoses. Do not bend the
A/C hoses excessively.
NOTE: Hang the A/C compressor with a wire tie.
Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt – Remove
- Disconnect the vacuum hose (A).
- Remove the front engine mount stop (B) and the front engine mount mounting bolt (C).
Engine Undercover – Remove
Remove the engine undercover (CLICK HERE).
Engine Oil – Drain
Drain the engine oil (CLICK HERE).
Exhaust Pipe A or Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A – Remove
Remove exhaust pipe A or under-floor TWC/exhaust pipe A:
- Exhaust Pipe A (CLICK HERE)
- Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A (CLICK HERE)
Clutch Case Cover – Remove
Remove the clutch case cover (A) and the transmission mounting bolts (B).
Transmission – Support
Support the transmission with a transmission jack and a wood block under
the transmission.
Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Bolt – Remove
Remove the lower transmission mount mounting bolts (A).
NOTE: Do not remove the bolt (B) from the lower transmission mount. If the
bolt is removed, the lower transmission mount must be replaced as an assembly.
Transmission Jack – Remove
Remove the transmission jack and the wood block.
Front Subframe – Support
Lift and support under the front of the front subframe with a transmission
jack.
Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt – Loosen
Loosen the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts (A) on both sides.
Front Subframe – Move
- Loosen the mounting bolts (A) from the front subframe (B) on rear side, so they are about 10 mm (0.39 in) from the mounting surface.
- Remove the mounting bolts (A) from the front subframe (B) on front side.
- Lower the jack slowly until the front subframe has dropped about 90 mm (3.54 in).
Oil Pan – Remove
- Using a flat blade screwdriver, separate the oil pan from the lower block in the places shown.
- Remove the oil pan.
Installation
Oil Pan – Install

Remove all of the old liquid gasket from the oil pan mating surfaces, the bolts, and the bolt holes.

Clean and dry the oil pan mating surfaces.

Apply liquid gasket, (P/N 08718-0003, 08718-0004 or 08718-0009) to the engine block mating surface of the oil pan, and to the inside edge of the threaded bolt holes. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.
NOTE:
- Apply a 2.5 mm (0.098 in) diameter bead of liquid gasket along the broken line (A).
- If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.

Install the oil pan (A) with a new O-ring (B).

Tighten the bolts in three steps. In the final step, torque all bolts, in sequence, to 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 9 lbf·ft). Wipe off the excess liquid gasket on the each side of crankshaft pulley and flywheel/drive plate.
NOTE:- Wait at least 30 minutes before filling the engine with oil.
- Do not run the engine within 3 hours after installing the oil pan.
Front Subframe – Align
Align the front subframe (CLICK HERE).
Transmission Jack – Remove
Remove the transmission jack from the front subframe.
Front Subframe Middle Mount Rubber Mounting Bolt – Tighten
Tighten the front subframe middle mount rubber mounting bolts (A) to the specified torque on both sides.
Lower Transmission Mount Mounting Bolt – Install
Install the new lower transmission mount mounting bolts.
Clutch Case Cover – Install
Install the clutch case cover (A) and the transmission mounting bolts (B).
Exhaust Pipe A or Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A – Install
Install exhaust pipe A or under-floor TWC/exhaust pipe A:
- Exhaust Pipe A (CLICK HERE)
- Under-Floor TWC/Exhaust Pipe A (CLICK HERE)
Engine Undercover – Install
Install the engine undercover (CLICK HERE).
Front Engine Mount Mounting Bolt – Tighten
- Tighten the new front engine mount mounting bolt (A).
- Install the front engine mount stop (B) using new nuts (C).
- Connect the vacuum hose (D).
A/C Compressor – Install
Install the A/C compressor.
Engine Oil – Refill
Refill the engine with engine oil (CLICK HERE).
Steering Joint – Connect
Connect the steering joint (CLICK HERE).
Wheel Alignment – Check
Check the wheel alignment (CLICK HERE).
VSA Sensor Neutral Position – Memorize
Do the VSA sensor neutral position memorization (CLICK HERE).
Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position – Clear
Do the steering angle sensor neutral position clear (CLICK HERE).
TPMS – Calibration
Do the TPMS calibration (CLICK HERE).
