HAWSK3 High Voltage Wiring Kit for ADA Application

WARNING
For residential (domestic) installation only. Before proceeding, switch power off at service panel and lock service disconnecting means to prevent power from being switched on accidentally. Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction codes and standards. Also, it is recommended to wear safety glasses and gloves.

  1. Access to the unit switches connections by removing the plate covering the access to the switches (if present) and removing and setting aside the filter(s) (if needed).

  2. Locate the motor and the light switches.

  3. Label and disconnect the speed wires from the motor switch (RED and BLACK)¹.

  4. Label and disconnect the light wire from the light switch (BLUE)¹.
    Disconnect and discard the BLACK wire between both switches.

  5. Connect the wires form the motor and light switches to the provided wire harness².

2 CAUTION
    Only use switches included in HAWSK3 ADA kit. Only use wires suitable for at least 90oC (194oF).

  6. Install 2 included rocker switches at a convenient place for the user. Use to 14/2 cables to wire them to the hood as shown below:

  7. If power enters the switch box, install the switches as shown below:

  8. Insert both 14/2 cables from the switch box in the hood through an UL approved wire clamp:

  9. Connect all ground wires together, according to applicable electrical code³.

  10. Connect the corresponding 14/2 wires from the switch box to the wires from motor switch³.

  11. Connect the corresponding 14/2 wires from the switch box to the wire from light switch³.

  12. Connect the corresponding 14/2 wire from the switch box to the power wire inside the hood³.

NOTES:

  1. Wire colors may change according to the hood model. Please refer to the detailed instructions for your model. They can be obtained using the QR code, the internet address or the phone number. See the last warning box.

  2. The wire harness may not be needed according to the hood model. Please refer to the detailed instructions for your model.

  3. Use appropriate wire nuts for all connections.
