Kelowna Spacebar Dampening Foam Instructions For Use
For most spacebars. the bottom two pieces of foam are sufficient.
Carefully peel off backing of dampening foam.
Carefully break apart dampening foam into three pieces along pre-scored lines
For spacebars that are being used with PCB-mount stabilizers. place the two
long pieces of dampening foam as shown on left. For plate-mount stabilizers.
do the same. but also follow step 3 below.
Note: This step usually does not need to be done for spacebars being used
with PCB-mount stabilizers.
For spacebars beign used with plate-mount stabilizers, after installing the
two long foam pieces. use scissors to trim the ends of the foam as shown such
that the plate-mount stabilizers do not come into contact with the foam during
the spacebar keypress.
After installation of the two long pieces of foam, use the middle section of
the thinner foam strip to surround the part of the spacebar stem that will
have the switch stem inserted into it. A thinner piece of foam is used so that
it does not impede the movement of the switch stem.
When using dampening foam with an SA profile spacebar additional foam can be used between the spacebar stems as shown for additional sound dampening. The dampening foam with cutouts can then be layered on top of it.
