FAQs

How long is the battery life?

Peter is right! Probably less than 10 chirps but no more. Charged 3x in 24hrs. I disconnected Bluetooth thinking that would extend life. I guess if you had an event or convention run a battery pack cord thru shirt.

Can you depend on it if you have to get beamed out of dangerous situations?

You can depend on it to call someone to beam you out, yes.

What is different in the update VS the original. I have the original.

What I got 10/30/21 was disappointing! I can’t imagine v1 unless I got that somehow. Scuffed, terrible battery life, OK speaker, Plastic, typical ‘nese junk. Box has serial but no revision. 2017©.

Is there any kind of Klingon equivalent? I would like to have a badge that shouts out “nuqneh!”

That would be awesome but not in development. We are working on a Section 31 version for 2020.

This seems cute, but is it truly functional for calls? To clarify my question, how is the sound quality?

The sound quality is great; however, improvements need to made on the mic because when I made a call, the other party said they could barely hear me. Hope that help you out.

Can you talk to others with the same device? Like walkie talkies?

If you and your friends all download a walkie talkie app like zello on your smartphone or tablet, you could then send and receive messages with them from this device, but that it all through the app like any other Bluetooth device.

Is any application necessary to talk with iPhone?

It’s a straight Bluetooth connection, no application should be needed for iPhone or Android.

How do I tell it to beam me up?

Well you have to charge it up then turn it on sync it with your phone makes sure it works. Then wait 600 years.

Is there one with the Voyager badge design?

No there is not. The profile for the VOY badge is too thin. We are making a Section 31 badge for Summer 2023 but that will have a higher cost.

Looks like a cool product. Can I buy this without my friends making fun of me?

I guess it depends on who your friends are. My friends don’t are about Star Trek by any means but they thought this was cool. They thought it was Star Wars though so I really don’t care what they think.

When will a non-plastic version be available? In what way is the 2021 version different from previous versions?

If you have enough money, anything is possible. Supply and demand rules.

Does it have passthrough charging capabilities to overcome the short battery life?

Yes you can charge the unit while it is on and functioning. Just do not over charge the unit after it is 100% charged for more than 48 hours.

compatible with new iPhone 10 xr ??

Yes, the Star Trek Bluetooth Combadge is compatible with ANY phone that uses Bluetooth.

Is any application necessary to talk with iPhone?

No additional apps needed. this will work with any phone or tablet like a normal Bluetooth headset or speaker.

Will it pair to a Samsung galaxy 4 watch via Bluetooth

It will pair with ANY Bluetooth phone, PC or tablet that has Bluetooth features. As far as watches normally they are the ones pairing with phones or tablets so we don’t think it would although we have not tested this.
