DENTALEZ 263758 Hiflo Swivel Connectors
Before operating the swivel connector, carefully read and follow all of these instructions. Save these instructions for future reference and observe all warnings and cautions.
INDICATIONS FOR USE
Swivel connectors are used to adapt the handpiece to the dental unit delivery tubing. Drive air, coolant air, water, and as applicable fiber optic lighting is supplied through the swivel.
SPECIFICATIONS
NOTE: All swivel connectors listed above, except 263758, contain an anti- retraction valve to prevent the backflow of water into the handpiece tubing. See Cleaning & Sterilization for special guidance regarding cleaning and maintenance.
DESCRIPTION
The Fiber Optic (F.O.) 4-Line HiFlo Swivels are designed to connect to ISO Type B 4-Hole Fiber Optic Tubing. The Fiber Optic (F.O.) 6-Pin ISO Type C, HiFlo Swivels are designed to connect to StarBright® Fiber Optic Handpiece Tubing or standard (non-Star) ISO C tubing.
SWIVEL INSTALLATION
Note: Use an air pressure gauge to adjust the pressure to the appropriate psi as recommended in the specified handpiece manual (30-34 for HiFlo swivels). The handpiece must be connected prior to taking pressure reading.
-
Slide tubing coupler back until the end of the ISO connector is exposed.
-
Align and insert fittings of the swivel into the ISO connector holes of the tubing.
-
Slide tubing coupler forward and thread clockwise until hand tight against the swivel.
-
Use the disconnect wrench, StarDental Part #203048, to tighten the swivel to the tubing coupler. Be sure to turn the tubing coupler, while holding the swivel in place. DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN. Note: The swivel tubing connection may loosen over time, resulting in water leaks and/or loss of power. Check for tightness periodically.
-
Snap the handpiece onto the swivel.
-
Adjust water volume at the delivery head to obtain a satisfactory spray mist.
-
Slide tubing coupler back until the end of the ISO connector is exposed. The lamp controller must be putting out 3.1-3.3 volts DC.
-
Use the digital multimeter to verify that the positive female contact is above the larger hole (exhaust port) at the tubing coupler. If the polarity is incorrect, then reverse the connection of tubing wires at Lamp Control electrical connection ports.
NOTE: Step 8 is not applicable to StarDental Tri-Lamp Controller. -
Align and insert fittings of the swivel into the ISO connector holes of the tubing. Slide tubing coupler forward and thread clockwise until hand tight against the swivel.
-
Verify that the LED swivel operates. If it does not light, immediately shut off and recheck connection and polarity per steps 7 and 8.
