THX Ultra2 Architectural Speakers
Your new Klipsch THX Ultra2 architectural speakers have been de-signed to deliver great sound while remaining unobtrusive wherever you install them.
The KL-7502-THX is designed for Left, Center or Right channel use or wherever a monopole speaker is called for, such as surround back channels in Select configurations. The result is a flush-mount speaker that creates a powerful statement in any application.
The KS-7502-THX features a patent-pending horn array, consisting of two Tractrix® Horn-loaded tweeters. It is designed specifically for surround use in home theater applications. The result is a flush-mount speaker that creates enveloping ambient sound fields and localizing specific surround effects through the use of Klipsch’s proprietary Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST™). The careful alignment of the two controlled-directivity Tractrix Horn tweeters, angled opposite one another, yields an incredibly wide dispersion pattern from a flush-mount design.
Minimum Tools Required for Installation
-
2 Phillips Screwdriver
- Wire strippers
- Stud finder
- Saw
In-Ceiling Speaker Placement (See Figures 1 and 2)
Designed to function in any standard, Klipsch THX Ultra2 in-ceiling speakers are engineered for years of performance. Minimum construction requirements call for drywall or other mounting surfaces to be at least 1/2″ thick.
To maximize performance, install the KL-7502-THX equally spaced to either side of the video display. When being used as a center channel, please locate the speaker as close to the video display as is practical.
The KS-7502-THX should be installed to either side of the listening position at an equal distance from the listener whenever possible. You may also install them behind the listening position and achieve good results.
THX Ultra2 7.1 surround systems utilize a surround back channel in addition to the traditional side surrounds. When configuring such a system it is suggested to use KL-7502 speakers in the surround back location.
Speaker Installation (for New Construction, skip to step #3)
- Cut the appropriate size opening in the ceiling using the template provided. If the template is not available, cutout dimensions are provided on the Klipsch website, at www.klipsch.com. Sizes listed are minimum. If accuracy of cut cannot be achieved, you may add 1/4” to the dimension. Be careful not to cut through any existing wiring or plumbing. Avoid compromising any fire stops between studs.
- Run speaker wiring (18 gauge minimum) to the openings. Be sure to comply with all building codes in your area.
- Attach the wire to the speaker using the wire’s color coding or markings as a guide to maintain proper polarity.
- Insert the speaker assembly into the opening and attach by tightening the Phillips screws (see illustration). The frame’s “dogs” will swivel out and “sandwich” the ceiling and frame together as they are tightened. If you use a power tool to tighten these screws, please use a low torque setting. Failure to do so could result in damage to your speaker (see Figure 3)
- At this point, you may paint the speaker grille before attaching it to the speaker. Klipsch speakers and grilles are designed to accept most types of paint. Use the supplied clear paint shield to protect the speaker baffle and drivers when painting the bezel of the speaker. Care should be taken to avoid excessive paint build-up in the grille perforations. Please remove the scrim material attached to inner surface of the grille by carefully peeling it out prior to painting. Reinstall scrim after the paint on the grille is dry.
- Press the grille into place.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the color of these?****
When fitted, you would only be able to see the white grill that covers this speaker.
Would using four of these be overkill? Can they be used as Atmos in the ceiling?****
For Atmos content, the PRO-7502-S-THX in wall speaker can be used. It is probably conceivable to use 4 of these speakers, depending on the receiver/capability amplifier’s and the size of the space.
Is L for the front and S for the back?****
These could be used as side or rear surrounds in a home theatre system because the “S” at the end of the model name stands for surround. Where the “S” is on this device, the “L” in a similar model name stands for LCR, and these could be used as either the left or right main front speakers or as a center channel.
Do in wall speakers sound good?****
Numerous in-wall speakers produce superb sound. The only thing you give up with a stereo configuration is that the sound quality might not be nearly as high if you install them properly and use a good speaker. However, in-ceiling speakers are a sonic trade-off.
What are in wall speakers called?****
These are also known as built-in speakers, in-wall speakers, in-ceiling speakers, or simply architectural speakers.
Are in wall speakers better than tower speakers?****
Floor-standing speakers are best for powerful bass and loud music, while in- wall speakers are best for low bass and quiet sound. Floor standing is appropriate for gatherings and going to the movies, whereas in-wall is appropriate for tiny, enclosed spaces.
Are in wall or on-wall speakers better?****
On-wall speakers are essentially very similar to their in-wall counterparts, with a few minor exceptions. The biggest benefit of on-wall speakers is that they take up little room, making them the ideal option if you have space restrictions.
Do in-wall speakers add value to home?****
Customers will think they are receiving an added benefit if there are stylish in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. Play relaxing music while the house is being shown so that potential buyers may imagine entertaining their own family.
Do I need a box for in-wall speakers?****
Any time you mount a speaker in your ceiling or wall, a backbox should be used. The advantages of using these tools outweigh any drawbacks. Back boxes are essential to the overall value of your built-in speaker investments because they provide soundproofing, audio enhancements, and speaker protection.
Are built in speakers worth it?****
Quality in-wall or in-ceiling speakers have several advantages for a home entertainment system when they are put properly. Some advantages to consider include decreased sound reflection, increased gains, a sleeker profile, and a more adaptable layout design.
How do wall speakers get power?****
Speakers installed in walls and ceilings are typically passive speakers. They are thus not required to be connected to a power source. They only require a connection to a receiver or amplifier that can also serve as a power source.
Are in wall speakers a fire hazard?****
A speaker’s heat output is thought to be far too negligible to start a fire.
Are speakers better in the ceiling or wall?****
In-wall speakers are bigger and have more space for additional sound technology and features. In-wall speakers are frequently more potent and of higher quality as a result than in-ceiling speakers.
