WIRELESS PACIFIC X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Microphone
FEATURES
Hand-held low power (LPD) UHF radio operating in the 433MHz LPD radio with 69 channels and 38 user selectable sub-tones with an external audio ports for a headset or other optional audio accessories such as 3.5mm earpiece. The radio features a low battery alert tone and a transmit timer limiter. Selected settings are confirmed by a voice or tones with the last settings selected being saved when the unit is powered off.
HOW TO OPERATE
Power
Press the Red On/Off button until you hear “Power On” and the selected channel
number. To turn off press button again until you hear power off tones.
To Talk
Press the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button to speak. Ensure that you speak directly
and in relative close proximity (2-3cm) to the front panel microphone. The
Red status light will be illuminated. Release the PTT button to listen. (or
accessory microphone when attached)
Adjust Volume
Press blue Up or Down buttons for desired listening level.
Change Channels
Press Orange Mode button for 2 secs. You will hear the current selected
channel number: Use the blue Up/Down buttons to select desired channel number
then either, press PTT momentarily, or press Mode button twice and you will
then hear “Exit”. Now use as desired.
Change Privacy SUB codes
Press Orange Mode button for 2 secs. You will hear the current selected
channel number. Press Menu again, you will hear current selected SUB Code
number: Use the blue Up/Down buttons to select desired code number then
either, press PTT momentarily or press Mode button once again and you will
then hear “Exit”. Now use as desired. (see page 9 for Code reference – Using
Privacy sub codes will prevent hearing transmissions from unwanted parties
using the same channel or interference that be in the air.
Maximum Range Performance
Attaching the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic high on your shoulder will ensure
the maximum communication coverage with others. Radio communications in the
433MHz band is generally line of sight. Steel and concrete walls block the
radio waves but will at times allow the radio signal to bounce around and
still allow messages to be heard. Should you hear transmissions from an
unwanted party you should select an alternate channel to communicate on.

BATTERY CHARGING
The X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic should be charged overnight before initial
use. Thereafter it may be worn all day and placed back ion charge at the end
of the work period. The unit is designed to provide about 12 hours operation
between charges even on the busiest radio channels. On quiet channels it may
last up to 2-3 days. A short beep tone will sound intermittently when
the battery charge level approaches its flat state. The radio will power down
automatically when the battery charge reaches its fully discharged state. You
should plan to re-charge the unit as soon as is practical once the alert tones
are heard. A fully discharged battery will typically recharge in 3-4 hours,
less if only partially discharged. The battery will re-charge when placed into
the Battery Charger supplied with the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic. The X10DR
UHF Radio Speaker Mic should be turned off before charging commences. The
charger status light will light Red when charging and Green when fully
charged. The radio’s status light will also indicate charging mode.
WARNING Indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could
result in serious injury or death.
To reduce the risks associated with hazardous voltage and fire:
- Do not allow debris to fill the pocket as it may prevent the device from making contact with the charging pins.
- Keep all liquids well away from the charging cradle at all times.
WARNING To reduce the risks associated with hazardous voltage:
- Do not modify AC/DC power adapter plug.
- Do not force the power plug into an outlet where it does not fit.
- Do not expose charger or power adapter to rain, steam or wet conditions.
- Do not submerge the device, or hold under running water, while it is charging.
- Use only provided AC/DC power adapter to recharge or power the device.
- Do not unplug AC/DC adapter by power cord. Handle the adapter by the body only.
- Do not modify, decorate, or attempt to service the device. Return to authorized service centre. There are no user serviceable parts.
- Do not attempt to charge the device using an outdoor outlet.
- Only use AC/DC adaptor in a well ventilated indoor environment.
PRIVACY SUB CODES
The X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic can be configured with a number of
unique privacy SUB codes. These codes are sent sub-audibly along with your
voice and operate such that your X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic will only hear
transmissions with the same privacy code. All units in your desired privacy
group should be configured to use the same code frequency. (see following
table) Note: the privacy SUB code does NOT prevent others from hearing your
transmissions
but means you do not need to listen to others that are not part of your
privacy group.
BATTERY & ANTENNA REPLACEMENT
WARNING – To reduce the risks associated with fire and explosion:
Do not attempt to replace the rechargeable battery in the X10DR UHF Radio
Speaker Mic yourself. The battery must be replaced only by an Authorized
Service Provider. The battery should be disposed of in accordance with local
regulations. Only use the antenna type supplied.
CARE & USE
Handling the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Microphone:
WARNING – To reduce the risks associated with fire and explosion:
Do not drop, disassemble, microwave, burn, paint, or insert foreign objects
into X10DR UHF. Do not use X10DR UHF if it has been damaged—for example, if
X10DR UHF is cracked, punctured, or damaged by water. X10DR UHF contains
sensitive components.
Cleaning your X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Microphone
Clean the radio immediately if it comes into contact with any contaminants
such as inks, dyes, cosmetic make-up, dirt, food, oils, and lotions that may
cause malfunction. To clean, unplug all cables and power down (press and hold
the manual On/Off button). Use a soft, slightly damp lint-free cloth. Don’t
use abrasive scourers or industrial cleaners and aerosol sprays containing
solvents, alcohol,ammonia or similar such chemicals.
Connectors and Press Buttons:
Never force a connector into a port or apply excessive pressure to a button,
because this may cause damage, not covered under the terms of the
manufacturers warranty. If the connector and port do not align with reasonable
ease, they probably don’t match. Check for obstructions and make sure that the
connector matches the port and that you have positioned the connector
correctly in relation to the port
Operating Temperature:
WARNING – To reduce the risks associated with fire and explosion:
Do not store the radio in a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight these storage
conditions may exceed the specified operating temperature range. The X10DR
UHF Radio Speaker Mic is designed to operate and stored in a temperature range
-20ºC to 55ºC. Temperatures levels outside of the standard operating range may
reduce battery life or result in malfunction of the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker
Mic. It is important to note that the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic may become
warm during the battery charging cycle or after extended use. The battery will
only charge when its ambient temperature is within the operating temperature
limits.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Driving Safely:
WARNING – To reduce the risks associated with impact from accident: Do
not use the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic while driving a motor vehicle, riding
a motorbike or operating heavy machinery. If you find using the device to
disruptive or distracting while driving or riding, pull off the road and park
before making or answering a call. Use of the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic
while driving a motor vehicle or riding a motorbike is not recommended and is
likely to be illegal in most countries including Australia and New Zealand.
Air Bag Equipped Vehicles:
WARNING – To reduce the risks associated with impact from airborne
object: Do not store X10DR Radio Speaker Mic or its accessories in the area
over the airbag or in the air bag deployment area. An air bag inflates with
great force.
Radio Frequency Energy:
The unit transmits and receives radio frequency (RF) energy through its
antenna. The antenna is located at the top edge of the unit. The X10DR UHF
Radio Speaker Mic is designed and manufactured to comply with the limits for
exposure to RF energy set by international regulatory agencies, including
regulatory authorities in Australia and New Zealand.
Explosive Atmospheres:
WARNING – To reduce the risks associated with fire and explosion
Always power down the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic when entering or being
exposed to any area with deemed to be a potentially explosive atmosphere. Do
not charge the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic in any area deemed to be a
potentially explosive atmosphere. Adhere strictly to all area Signage and
Operations Instructions. Sources of ignition such as static electricity sparks
could cause an explosion and may result in serious injury or potentially
death. Areas with a potentially explosive atmosphere are usually marked
clearly. It is IMPORTANT TO NOTE that on occasion this may not be the case.
Potential areas may include: fuelling areas (such as petrol stations); below
deck on
boats; fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities; vehicles using
liquefied
petroleum gas (LNG); areas where the air contains chemicals or particles (such
as grain, dust, or metal powders); and any other area where you would normally
be advised to turn off your vehicle engine.
Radio Frequency Interference:
This device has not been tested for and is not intended for use on airplanes,
in hazardous environments, in healthcare facilities, or where cellular phones
or other intentional transmitters are restricted.
WARNING –
Avoid placing the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic next to an implanted electronic
device (e.g., don’t carry the device in a shirt or jacket pocket directly near
an implanted device). Wear the X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic on the shoulder
opposite the pacemaker to minimize the potential for interference. If you have
any reason to suspect that interference is taking place, turn the device off
immediately.
HEADSET USE
WARNING –
Exposure to loud sounds may result in noise induced hearing loss (NIHL): NIHL
can be caused by a one-time exposure to an intense sound such as an explosion,
or by continuous exposure to loud sounds over an extended period of time.
Workers exposed to hazardous noise may also experience tinnitus, which could
become permanent. NIHL is irreversible but completely preventable. If you
experience discomfort or ringing in your ears, consult a medical practitioner.
Safe Work Australia in the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011 determined
the noise exposure standard to be 85dB(A) averaged over a time period not
exceeding 8 (eight) hours or 140dB(C) as the peak limit.
The X10DR UHF Radio Speaker Mic has the option of 8 volume levels. When set at
level 8, the communicator emits approximately 96dB at a distance of 10 cm from
the front surface of the speaker, exposing wearers to loud sounds. It is
therefore recommended that the volume is set and maintained at the lowest
level, practical; preferably below level 4. If the ambient noise requires the
use of volumes above level 4, it is recommended that 3M Peltor Noise
Attenuating Headsets with sound limiters be used in combination with X10DR UHF
Group Communicator. It may also be worth considering an alternate means of
radio communications,
WARRANTY
Wireless Corporation Ltd (WCL) warrants each new X10DR UHF or accessory product to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. The obligation and liability of WCL under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement at its authorized service centre, at the option of WCL, of any such product which proves defective within the twelve (12) months after delivery, and is found to be defective in material and workmanship by WCL inspection. Products of warranty consideration shall be returned with all transportation charges prepaid to our nominated local service supplier in shipping containers which are adequate to prevent loss or damage in shipment. WCL will pay the return carriage costs. Products repaired or replaced under this warranty are warranted for the unexpired portion of the original warranty. This warranty is invalid if the factory-applied serial number, date code label, or product label has been altered or removed from this product. WCL shall not be obligated or liable under the warranty for apparent defects which examination discloses are due to tampering, misuse, neglect, improper storage, acts of nature, physical abuse, normal wear and all cases where the products are disassembled by other than authorized WCL representatives.

The X10DR UHF and its accessories are designed for compliance for LPD operations in the globally allocated 433MHz spectrum. It has been tested and is certified to meet the requirements of:

requirements, including equipment repairs whether during warranty or post
warranty period will be available during normal Australian business hours.
