WARNING
- ONLY QUALIFIED ELECTRICAL PERSONNEL SHOULD BE PERMITTED TO WORK ON THE EQUIPMENT.
- ALWAYS DE-ENERGIZE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY CIRCUITS IF A CIRCUIT BREAKER CANNOT BE REMOVED TO A SAFE WORK LOCATION.
- DRAWOUT CIRCUIT BREAKERS SHOULD BE LEVERED (RACKED) OUT TO THE DISCONNECT POSITION
- ALL CIRCUIT BREAKERS SHOULD BE SWITCHED TO THE OFF POSITION AND MECHANISM SPRINGS DISCHARGED. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE STEPS FOR ALL PROCEDURES DESCRIBED IN THIS INSTRUCTION LEAFLET COULD RESULT IN DEATH, BODILY INJURY, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
WARNING
THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THIS IL AND ON PRODUCT LABELS HAVE TO BE
FOLLOWED. OBSERVE THE FIVE SAFETY RULES:
- DISCONNECTING

General information
IMPORTANT
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT APPROPRIATE INTERPHASE BARRIERS BE INSTALLED BETWEEN
INSIDE AND OUTSIDE PRIMARY TERMINALS WITH ALL REAR-CONNECTED CONFIGURATIONS ON
DRAWOUT CASSETTES AND FIXED TYPE CIRCUIT BREAKERS TO ENSURE INSULATION
INTEGRITY. THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE PROVIDED FOR EATON SUPPLIED INTERPHASE
BARRIERS OR INTERPHASE BARRIERS PURCHASED SEPARATELY FROM EATON.
Eaton supplied interphase barriers are made from a flexible rubber type
material, and when installed, provide the proper insulation integrity. Drawout
cassettes and fixed circuit breakers are designed for the simple installation
of these barriers.
Drawout cassette barriers
Dove tail shaped mounting slots are provided in the primary backpan of the
cassette for mounting Eaton supplied interphase barriers (Figure 1).
Proceed with the following four steps:
Steps 1 and 2
To install both supplied rubber type interphase barriers, slide each barrier
in until the dove tail shaped keys on the barrier firmly engage the two
mounting slots at the top and bottom of the cassette’s backpan. Three barriers
would be required for a four-pole breaker. Refer to Figure 1 for an additional
reference.Installation and removal instructions for Series NRX

Step 3
Once the barriers are installed, they will feel securely mounted to the touch
and appear as shown.
Step 4
Reverse the procedure to remove the barriers from the cassette.
Fixed breaker barriers
Rear connect primary covers on the rear of the fixed breaker have two sets of
molded friction fit guides to secure the barriers in place. There are two
guides near the top and two near the bottom that are used for mounting Eaton
supplied interphase barriers (Figure 5).
Proceed with the following four steps.
Steps 1 and 2
To install both supplied rubber type interphase barriers, slide each barrier
down between the top and bottom sets of molded guides. The molded guides will
hold the barriers securely in place at the top and bottom. Three barriers
would be required for a four-pole breaker.
Step 3
Once the barriers are installed, they will feel securely mounted to the touch
and appear as shown.
Step 4
Reverse the procedure to remove the barriers from the fixed breaker.
