Installation
-
Disconnect power from all equipment.
-
(Optional) Mount the unit to a rack or furniture using optional Extron mounting brackets and accessories (see www.extron.com to determine which optional mounting accessories are compatible).
-
Connect the audio input. Connect up to four balanced or unbalanced mono line-level input devices to line inputs (see Figure 1, D and the audio input wiring on the right).
-
Connect the audio output. For balanced or unbalanced audio output, connect up to four output devices to line output (see Figure 1, E and the audio output wiring on the right).
-
Connect the digital input. Up to four configurable input ports and a + 5 V convenience port allow connection to various external switches and sensors for remote triggering of functions within the device (see Figure 1, F and the digital input wiring below).
- The +5 VDC power pin is intended to provide power for illuminated switches used to control the digital inputs. The maximum current draw is 150 mA.
- Audio Input Wiring
- CAUTION For unbalanced audio, connect the sleeve to the ground contact.
- DO NOT connect the sleeve to the negative (−) contacts.
-
Connect a control device, such as a computer, to one of the following ports to control the device using the Simple Instruction Set (SIS™) commands or DSP Configurator Pro.
- Remote RS-232 port (rear panel) — Connect a host device to this 3-pole 3.5mm captive screw port (see figure 1, G on page 1).
- The default baud rate is 38400, 1 stop bit, no parity, 8 data bits, and no flow control (see the image on the right for wiring details).
Configuration port (front panel) — Connect a computer to this USB-C port (see figure 1, B). Firmware can be updated through this port via Firmware Loader software (see the Firmware Loader Help File for details).
-
Reset button. The reset button (H) initiates two levels of resets. Use a pointed stylus, ballpoint pen, or small screwdriver to access the recessed button (see the DMP 44 xi User Guide for details on the different reset modes). The green LED indicates the reset mode that was used.
-
Connect power to the device by connecting the included 12 VDC external power supply to the rear Smooth panel power inlet (see C and the power supply wiring on the right).
- The power LED blinks during power up and Ridges firmware uploads and lights steadily when the device is SECTION A–A operational.
-
Install the software. Other than the reset button, there are no hardware controls for the device. All audio configurations and controls are done via software. Download the control software, DSP Configurator Pro, from the Extron website at www.extron.com. See the DMP 44 xi User Guide for details on installing the software and the DSP Configurator Pro Help File for all DSP operation descriptions.
