  • Operate the cleaner only at voltage specified on data plate on bottom of cleaner.
  • Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning or servicing.
  • Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
  • Do not allow to be used as a toy. Not intended for use by children age 12 and under. Close supervision is necessary when used by or near children. To avoid injury or damage, keep children away from product, and do not allow children to place fingers or other objects into any openings.
  • Use only as described in this user’s manual. Use only Dirt Devil® recommended attachments. (See page 15 for attachment and accessory compatibility).
  • Do not use product with damaged cord or plug. If product is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, call customer service at 1-800-321-1134 prior to continuing use.
  • Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not place product on cord. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
  • Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
  • Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
  • Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
  • Turn off all controls before unplugging.
  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. To avoid personal injury or damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling, always place cleaner at bottom of stairs or on floor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage.
  • Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or fine wood sandings, or use in areas where they may be present.
  • The Hose contains electrical wires. Avoid picking up sharp objects. If Hose appears damaged, cut, punctured, or wires are exposed, unplug unit and discontinue use. Do not attempt to repair damaged Hose. Call customer service at 1-800-321-1134.
  • Always turn off this appliance before connecting or disconnecting either Hose or motorized Nozzle.
  • Hold plug when rewinding onto cord reel. Do not allow plug to whip when rewinding.
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
  • Do not use without Dirt Cup and / or Filters in place.
  • Put product away after use to prevent tripping accidents.

CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DAMAGE:

  • Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects with this product, as they may cause damage.
  • Store appropriately indoors in a dry place. Do not expose machine to freezing temperatures.
  • Do not use sharp objects to clean out Hose as they can cause damage.
  • Do not allow Power Nozzle with brush roll running to sit in one location for an extended period of time, as damage to floor can result.

WARNING:

  • To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

An internal thermal protector has been designed into your cleaner to protect it from overheating. When the thermal protector activates the cleaner will stop running. If this happens proceed as follows:

  1. Turn cleaner OFF and disconnect it from the electrical outlet.
  2. Empty dirt cup.
  3. Inspect the nozzle and bag inlet openings for any obstructions. Clear obstructions if present.
  4. When cleaner is unplugged and motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate and cleaning may continue. If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner may need servicing.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE

WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY FROM MOVING PARTS – UNPLUG BEFORE SERVICING.

HOSE INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL

  1. Insert the hose connector into the hose inlet until it clips securely into position. (To remove the vacuum hose from the vacuum cleaner, press the fitting hooks then pull outwards.

ATTACHMENT INSTALLATION

  1. When attaching the 2-piece plastic wand, connect one extension tube into the other. Firmly press each extension tube together until they are connected.
  2. Attach the end of the suction tube to the hose handle of the vacuum hose.

ATTACH TOOLS

  1. Choose any of the accessories to meet your various cleaning needs. Then simply push it firmly onto the hose or wand end.
    Fully assemble or install product prior to use.

HOW TO OPERATE

ON/OFF SWITCH

  1. Plug power cord into outlet.
  2. Attach hose and desired attachment.
  3. Turn power on (ON/OFF switch located on canister body)

CONTROLLING SUCTION POWER

Suction power can be adjusted using the Handle Suction Control. Close for full suction or open for reduced suction.

CORD RELEASE / REWIND

CAUTION:
Pull out cord to the maximum length indicated with the yellow mark. Never pull the cable out to the red mark as the cable winding mechanism can be damaged.

  1. To release cord, pull outward from storage location. Do not pull out past the red tape.
  2. To return cord to storage, hold the plug and press down on the cord release button. Do not allow cord to whip when rewinding.

DIRT CUP & FILTER: REMOVAL & REPLACEMENT

WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY FROM MOVING PARTS – UNPLUG BEFORE SERVICING.

  • NOTE : Unplug cleaner before changing filter.
  • NOTE: Rinse foam filter once every month. If vacuum is used frequently, the filter may require more frequent cleaning.
  • NOTE: For best performance, replace pleated filter every 6 months

CAUTION: To obtain the best result from your cleaner the dirt cup needs to be emptied regularly, otherwise shallow airflow and cleaning power will be reduced. When collected dust reaches the “MAX” level marked on the Dirt Cup and performance deteriorates it is necessary to clean the Dirt Cup. Always check if there are any blockages in the accessories or hoses and follow the filter cleaning instructions for optimum performance.

  1. DIRT CUP REMOVAL
    Unplug the cleaner. Carefully remove the dirt cup by pressing the lock release button (A).

  2. EMPTY DIRT CUP
    Hold the Dirt Cup over the wastebasket and push the Dirt Cup Release Button (B) to empty.

REMOVE, RINSE AND REPLACE FILTER

  1. Pull up on lid release latch to access filter. ****

  2. Turn filter counterclockwise and lift. ****

  3. Hold Filter under running water to rinse. DO NOT use soap/detergent. Allow filter to COMPLETELY DRY for at least 24 hours. **
    IMPORTANT:** DO NOT REASSEMBLE FILTER ASSEMBLY UNTIL FILTER HAS COMPLETELY DRIED.

  4. Replace dry filter back into the unit in the same way they were removed. DO NOT REASSEMBLE UNTIL FILTER IS COMPLETELY DRIED. ****

CLEAN EXHAUST FILTER


  1. Remove Exhaust Filter by twisting wheel cover clockwise.
  2. Remove Exhaust Filter (A) and hold under running water to rinse. DO NOT use soap/detergent. DO NOT REASSEMBLE UNTIL FILTER IS COMPLETELY DRIED.
  3. Replace Dry Exhaust Filter and Exhaust Filter cover back into the unit, in the same way they were removed.
    IMPORTANT: DO NOT REASSEMBLE FILTER ASSEMBLY UNTIL EXHAUST FILTER HAS COMPLETELY DRIED.

STORAGE

BEFORE STORING CLEANER:

  1. Turn the unit off.
  2. Unplug and press the automatic cord rewind button.
  3. Collapse the extension wand and place the parking hook on the back of the nozzle onto the parking bracket.

WHAT THIS LIMITED WARRANTY COVERS
This limited warranty provided by Royal Appliance Mfg. Co., doing business as TTI Floor Care North America (referred to hereafter as “Dirt Devil”) applies only to products purchased in the U.S. (including its territories and possessions), at a U.S. Military Exchange, or in Canada. When used and maintained in normal household use and in accordance with the Owner’s Guide, your Dirt Devil® product is warranted against original defects in material and workmanship for the number of years from the date of original purchase stated above (the “Warranty Period”). If Dirt Devil determines that the issue you are experiencing is covered under the terms of this warranty (a “covered warranty claim”), we will, at our sole discretion and free of charge (subject to the cost of shipping), either repair your product or ship you a replacement product, subject to availability. Parts and replacements may be new, refurbished, lightly used, or remanufactured, in Dirt Devil’s sole discretion. If parts and replacements are unavailable, we may, at our discretion, provide a similar product of equal or greater value, a store credit (if applicable), or a refund of the actual purchase price at the time of the original purchase, as reflected on the original sales receipt.

This warranty does not cover use of the product in a commercial operation (such as maid, janitorial, and equipment rental services, or any other income- generating activity); improper maintenance of the product; the product if it has been subject to misuse, negligence, neglect, vandalism, or the use of voltages other than that on the data plate of this product. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from an act of God, accident, owner’s acts or omissions, service of this product by other than Dirt Devil or a Dirt Devil authorized service provider (if applicable), or other acts beyond the control of Dirt Devil. This warranty also does not cover use outside the country in which the product was initially purchased, or resale of the product by the original owner. Pick-up, delivery, transportation, and house calls are not covered by this warranty. In addition, this warranty does not cover any product that has been altered or modified; repairs made necessary by normal wear; or the use of parts or accessories which are either incompatible with the Dirt Devil product or adversely affect its operation, performance, or durability. Normal wear items that are not covered under this warranty include, but are not limited to, belts, filters, brush rolls, vacuum tubes, and vacuum bags and straps.

OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS

This warranty is not transferable and may not be assigned; any assignment made in contravention of this prohibition is void. This warranty shall be governed and construed under the laws of the state of North Carolina. The Warranty Period will not be extended by any replacement of batteries or parts or repair performed under this warranty.
