Product Usage Instructions:

1. Appearance:

Each Deco unit has an LED indicator that changes color to
reflect its status, a mounting tab, two gigabit ports, a power
slot, and a reset button. The LED colors indicate different states
of the device such as setup progress, connectivity status, and
firmware updates.

2. Mounting Options:

Wall/Pole Mounting Tab: Use the provided
mounting kits to securely attach the Deco unit to a wall or pole
for optimal placement.

Reset Button: Press and hold the reset button
for 1 second to restore Deco to factory default settings. A
successful reset is indicated by a change in the LED light from
pulsing yellow to solid yellow.

Power Slot: Power up the Deco unit using the
provided power cord connected to a power outlet, PoE switch, or
other compatible power sources.

3. Determine the Power Option:

The Deco unit can be powered using a power cord or a PSE device
(such as a PoE switch) that complies with specific electrical

Appearance
Each Deco has an LED that changes color according to its status, a mounting tab, two gigabit ports, a power slot, and a Reset button. See the explanation below:

Yellow pulse: Deco is resetting.
Yellow solid: Deco is starting up.
Blue pulse: Deco is ready for setup or WPS in progress.
Blue solid: Deco is setting up.
Green pulse: Deco is upgrading firmware.
Green solid: Deco is registered and all is well.
Red pulse: Deco is disconnected from main Deco.
Red solid: Deco has an issue.

Wall/Pole Mounting Tab For connecting Deco to a pole or wall with the provided mounting kits.
Reset Button: Press for 1 second and release to reset Deco to factory default settings. The light changing from pulsing yellow to solid yellow indicates a successful reset.
Power Slot: For powering up Deco via the provided power cord.
2× Gigabit Ports: · As the PoE port: For powering Deco up via a PSE
device (such as a PoE switch). · As the WAN/LAN port: For connecting Deco to
your modem, the Ethernet outlet or other internet devices.

Determine the Power Option
Deco can be powered via a power cord or a PSE device (such as a PoE switch) which complies with Power Source Class 2 (PS2) or Limited Power Source (LPS) and Electrical Energy Source Class 1(ES1) of IEC 62368-1.

Option1: Via PoE Switch (Compliant with 802.3at)
Connect an Ethernet cable from the PoE switch (compliant with 802.3at) to the Deco’s Ethernet port. The power should not be less than 18 W.

Option2: Via Power Cord
Plug one end of the provided power cord into the power port of the Deco and the other end to a standard electrical wall outlet. The product can only be powered via the normal building installation wiring.

For the US: Install the power cord plug only to indoor socket-outlets or to a covered Class A GFCI receptacle that has an enclosure that is weatherproof with the attachment plug cap inserted or removed. For other regions: Install the power cord plug only to indoor socketoutlets or to outdoor socket-outlets with an enclosure which can be waterproof with the attachment plug cap inserted or removed.

Set Up Your Deco Network
First let’s start by setting up the Deco network. Get the TP-Link Deco app for iOS or Android, then follow the app to walk through the setup.

1. Get the Deco app
Download and install the Deco app from Google Play or App Store, or by scanning the QR code below.

2. Log in with TP-Link ID
Open the app and log in with your TP-Link ID. If you don’t have a TP-Link ID, create one first.
Tip: If you forgot your login password, tap Forgot Password. The app will help you reset your password.

3. Select your Deco model
Search for and select your Deco model. If you have more than one Deco model, tap the question below the search box to check how to maximize the overall network.

4. Plug in your Deco
Power off your modem, connect your Deco to the modem, then power them both on.
If you don’t have a modem, connect your Deco directly to the Ethernet outlet.

5. Specify your Deco’s location
Select or custom a location for your Deco. The location will be used as the name of your Deco.

6. Connect your Deco to the internet
Select the internet connection type and enter the information. If you are not sure, contact your internet service provider.

7. Create your Deco Wi-Fi
Create the network name and password for your Deco and connect to it.

8. Setup complete
Your Deco network is now up. You can connect your devices to the Deco network.
If you have more decos, tap Add another Deco to add them to your network.

Waterproof Your Deco
The Deco can be used either indoors or outdoors. Before mounting your Deco outdoors, waterproof it to ensure device safety and performance.

WARNING
· The waterproof cover must be secured before use! · The product can only be installed by instructed person or skilled person! · Keep the device away from fire or hot environments. DO NOT immerse in water or any other liquid.

Loosen the screws to detach the waterproof cover of the Deco with a Phillips screwdriver.
Note: The screws cannot be detached from the waterproof cover.

Connect the provided Ethernet cable and/or power cord according to your network needs. If you need extra ones, 5 mm diameters cables and cords are recommended to fit the slots of the waterproof rubber.
Note: The images use AC-powered wired connection as an example.

Open waterproof connector(s) on the base cover to expose the slot(s) aligning with your cable(s).
Keep the other connector(s) properly closed for waterproofing.

Replace the waterproof cover, leading the cable(s) through the slot(s) of the waterproof rubber. Re-secure the cover to your Deco with the screws.

Mount Your Deco
Deco can be mounted to a pole or a wall. Choose the appropriate mounting methods.
Option 1: Pole Mounting The Deco can be mounted to a pole with the strap in the package.

Pole Mounting Strap

Lead the end of the pole mounting strap through the back of the Deco.

Position the Deco and wrap the pole mounting strap around the pole.
Feed the end through the screwblock and tighten the strap until the Deco is secure.

WARNING
The Deco can only be used in upright direction as shown in the image.

Option 2: Wall Mounting The Deco can be mounted to a wall with the bracket, anchors, and screws in the package.

Self-tapping Screws

Place the mounting bracket in the right position. Mark two positions for the screw holes .
Drill two 6 mm diameter holes for the screws at the marked positions.

Insert the plastic wall anchors into the 6 mm diameter holes.
Align the mounting bracket to the plastic wall anchors and drive the self- tapping screws into the anchors through the mounting bracket.

Align the mounting tabs on the back of the Deco with the slot of the mounting bracket.
Push and slide the Deco downward until it locks into place.

The Deco can only be used in upright direction as shown in the image.
