Product Usage Instructions
Charge the Battery
The battery comes partially charged. Fully charge the battery before use,
which takes about seven and a half hours using a 5V 1A USB charger.
Set Up the Camera
- Download the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Peel off the film from the camera before use.
- Charge the battery using the USB cable included in the package.
- Power on the camera by pressing and holding for about 3 seconds.
- Follow the app instructions to set up your camera.
Installation Options
Option 1: Set on a Table
Rotate after installing and secure the bracket.
Option 2: Mount to the Wall
Drill holes according to the mounting template, insert anchors, and affix
the bracket over the anchors. Then install the camera on the mounting bracket
and adjust the camera angle.
Mounting Tips
- Avoid placing behind glass as it obstructs the motion sensor.
- Choose a proper location to avoid false alarms.
- Mount the camera to the side for better motion detection.
- Avoid placing the camera upside down.
- Keep the motion sensor level for best results.

Can I use a third-party solar panel to charge this camera?
It is not recommended as it may affect waterproof performance. For more

Charge the Battery
The battery comes partially charged. We recommend that you fully charge the battery before use. This will take about seven and a half hours.
Note:
- Peel off film from the camera before use.
- Warning: Do not tear off the silicone part by force as it may affect the waterproof performance.
- Charge the battery using the USB cable included in the package. Inappropriate cables may result in slow charging or failure to charge.
- When you plug in the USB charger, the LED should blink amber quickly for 3 seconds. If not, make sure the power is running and check your connection.
- The camera may not power up after falling. Plug in the USB charger to power it on again.
- Keep the ports firmly covered when not in use to ensure waterproof performance.
- Check the battery status on the Tapo app after setup.
Set Up the Camera
- Get the Tapo app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Press and hold on your camera for about 3 seconds to turn it on. Tap the button in the app and select your model. Then follow the app instructions to set up your camera.

Mounting Tips
- Avoid placing behind glass. Glass will obstruct the motion sensor of your camera.
- Choose a proper location to mount your camera, or it will be triggered too often by false alarms.
- Avoid pointing the camera directly at swaying trees.
- Avoid pointing the camera directly at vehicles and pedestrians on the road.
- Avoid pointing the camera directly at street lamps and sunlight.
- Mount your camera to the side so that movement goes across the lens’ field of view to better trigger motion detection and AI detection.

Tilt the camera downwards at an angle of about 20°.

Do not place the camera upside down.

Keep the motion sensor level for best results.
Mount to the Wall
Drill Holes
Stick the mounting template to the desired mounting place. Drill 3 holes
according to the template.
Install the Bracket
Insert three anchors into the holes and use the screws to affix the bracket
over the anchors.
Install the Camera
Install the camera on the mounting bracket, and adjust the camera angle.

- The Tapo Solar Panel charges your Smart Wire-Free Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera continuously.

- If you don’t yet have a Tapo Solar Panel, charge the rechargeable battery with a standard and high-quality DC 5V/1A battery charger. Keep the charging port firmly covered when fully charged.

Power Button

Open the cover. Insert a microSD card and initialize it on the Tapo app for local recording. microSD card not included. -
Reset Button
Use a pin to press and hold for at least 5 seconds to reset the camera to factory default settings. -
