YOUR TAG HEUER WATCH

Congratulations on your new TAG Heuer watch.

By choosing TAG Heuer, you have opted for technical innovation, precision and endurance, criteria that we have made our calling. Since 1860, we have been creating prestige sports watches.

This guide will get you started with your watch. We hope it will bring you complete satisfaction.

Your chronograph is equipped with a TAG Heuer self-winding mechanical movement, the Calibre TH20-13.

Every motion of your wrist drives the oscillating weight, which winds up the spring and keeps your watch running. Completely wound up, your watch will continue to function for approx. 80 hours.

Water resistance to 100 metres*.

Your TAG Heuer Carrera Seafarer watch is equipped with a tide level indicator in the form of a disc at 9 o’clock. Once set, this disc will give you the approximate times of the daily high and low tides.

It is also possible to use this disc to indicate the moon phases. In this case, a different setting to that used for the tides will be required.

SETTING THE TIME

CROWN POSITIONS

MANUAL WINDING
This position allows you to wind your watch manually by turning the crown clockwise several times.
Pull the crown out by one notch to move it to position 2.
TIME CORRECTION
To correct the time, turn the crown in the desired direction.
Important: Always push the crown back to position 1 to guarantee the water resistance of the watch.

TIDE LEVEL INDICATOR

Note : To display the tides correctly, the disc 6 must be synchronised with the solar time. To do this, pull the crown out to position 2 , then turn it to set the hands to 10 o’clock, then continue to advance them slowly, while observing the disc. If it jumps to 12 o’clock, the watch indicates midnight; if it doesn’t jump, it indicates midday.

Starting at midnight or midday, set the time on the watch. In our example: 07:20 in the morning.

THE TIDES
The disc 6 indicates the four tides (two high tides and two low tides). From midnight, the disc turns automatically for the next day.

Notes:

Depending on the chosen location in the world, the number of daily tides may vary.
On the disc, a zone with no indications is required between 11 PM and 1 AM (23 h – 01 h) to compensate for any discrepancies caused by the display.
The disc completes a full rotation every 29.53125 days, which corresponds to the time required for the tides to return to the same times.

SETTING THE TIDES

Enter the time of the tides in the location of your choice. In our example, the first high tide is expected at 10 am.

Press the push-button C to set one of the arrows in the blue zone to 10 AM (10:00).

On the illustration, the disc 6 indicates that the second high tide will be at approximately 10:30 PM (22:30), on the basis that two identical tides are always 12 hours and 24 minutes apart.

The first low tide will be at 4 AM (04:00) and the second at 4 PM (16:00).

MOON PHASE INDICATOR

Note : To display the moon phases correctly, the disc 6 must be synchronised with the solar time. To do this, pull the crown out to position C , then turn it to set the hands to 10 o’clock, then continue to advance them slowly, while observing the disc. If it jumps to 12 o’clock, the watch indicates midnight; if it doesn’t jump, it indicates midday.

Starting at midnight or midday, set the time on the watch. In our example: 10:23 in the morning.

THE MOON PHASES
The tip of the crescent on the disc 6 indicates the position of the moon.

From midnight, the disc turns automatically for the next day.

Note : The disc completes a full rotation every 29.53125 days, which corresponds to a full lunar cycle.

SETTING THE MOON PHASES
Find out the current position of the moon using a lunar calendar. In our example, the moon is full.

Push the push-button C to position the tip of the crescent at 12.

CHRONOGRAPH

Caution : Before each timing, the hands must be at zero. If necessary, press button B .

CUMULATIVE TIMING

This function measures several consecutive times, adding them to give the total measured time.

Start 1st time: button A (START)
Stop 1st time: button A (STOP)

Stop 2nd time: button A (STOP)

Read 1st and 2nd times, etc.
Reset to zero: button B.

CARING FOR YOUR TAG HEUER

MAINTENANCE

The optimal service cycle for your TAG Heuer timepiece is exclusive to your watch and unique lifestyle. The necessary interval between services will be determined by your individual wearing habits, frequency of wear, your environment, and the intensity of physical activity you engage in. Therefore, you can continue wearing your watch for as long as you please and only entrust it for a service if you notice a deviation from the regular performance, function or timekeeping. However, we usually recommend a full overhaul every five to six years for both mechanical and quartz watches. For watches worn in water, it’s important to have them tested for water resistance every two years, as the sealing gaskets age and corrode when exposed to water.

WATER RESISTANCE

Water resistance is the ability to withstand pressure in/under water. In this sense, the term water resistant can be misleading because it relates to pressure and not physical depth. Generally speaking, a watch used for water sports and swimming should have at least 100 m (10 bar) water resistance. Make sure to check your watch’s specification (usually engraved on the case back) to make sure you are using it in the correct manner in the appropriate environment. All watches are tested according to their water resistance level during the last stage of production, but this condition cannot be permanently guaranteed. It may be affected by the aging of gaskets or by an accidental shock to one of the components assuring the water resistance, such as the crown, pushers and crystal. A partial service including complete dismantling, cleaning and replacement of all gaskets is performed to prevent any moisture from entering the movement.

CLEANING

Dip a microfiber cloth or soft-bristled toothbrush into warm water and gently brush over the top of the watch face and metal bracelet. Avoid using any soap as it can leave particles in small spaces and do not immerse the watch in water. This operation is strongly recommended after each immersion in salty or chlorinated water. When required, a professional ultra-sonic cleaning can be made by any of our authorized service centre.

LEATHER STRAPS

TAG Heuer genuine leather straps are crafted with the most refined materials and represent high-quality products. Like all objects in natural skin (shoes, gloves, etc.), their lifespan varies considerably according to the conditions in which they are worn. In particular, water, cosmetics and perspiration accelerate the aging process. Leather absorbs humidity from your skin when you wear it regularly. Make sure to let it breathe overnight to give it the time to dry, but never attempt to dry it using heat. A metal or a rubber bracelet is thus better suited to activities involving frequent contact with water or moisture.

WHAT TO AVOID

Like any valuable object, your TAG Heuer watch deserves special care. It is important to protect it from knocks by hard objects and heavy vibrations. Exposing your watch to chemicals like soap, detergents, cosmetics and perfumes can damage your watch case or strap. Wait until creams or perfume dry completely on your skin before wearing your watch. Also, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading on the watch and cause the oils to dry prematurely. All TAG Heuer watches are designed to run smoothly at temperatures ranging between 0 °C and 50 °C but important thermic shocks are to be avoided. Magnetism can cause the spirals of the hairspring of your watch to magnetize together, shortening the spring, thus causing inaccuracy of time measurement. We recommend not keeping your watch close to any magnets (television, speakers, tablets, etc.) to prevent magnetism interference.

LIMITED INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY

Your TAG Heuer watch is covered by a limited international warranty against any manufacturing defect (the “Limited Warranty”) for a period of sixty (60) months from the date of purchase under the following terms and conditions.

WHAT IS COVERED?
Under this Limited Warranty, TAG Heuer undertakes to repair, free of charge, any problem with the functions of your watch that result from a manufacturing defect. This Limited Warranty will be honored throughout the TAG Heuer international network, at any TAG Heuer Boutique, authorized retailer or authorized TAG Heuer Service Center, regardless of the country of purchase.

WHAT ARE THE CONDITIONS OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY?
To benefit from this Limited Warranty, the following conditions must be met:
– your international warranty card must have been electronically activated by your TAG Heuer Boutique or your authorized retailer at the time of purchase. TAG Heuer will not honor the Limited Warranty for watches sold without a valid warranty card properly activated;
– the serial number engraved on the case must be perfectly legible and no part of the original case back or original serial number must have been removed, modified, falsified, altered, replaced, erased, defaced or made illegible.
Failure to abide by any of the above conditions will invalidate the Limited Warranty.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED?
The Limited Warranty does not cover:
– the wear and tear and aging of your watch due to normal usage (e.g., scratches on the case, strap or buckle, corrosion caused by perspiration or dust intrusion) and the peeling, alteration of the colour and/or the material of non-metallic straps;
– any damage on any part of the watch resulting from abnormal/abusive use, lack of care, negligence, accidents (knocks, dents, crushing, broken crystal, etc.), incorrect use of the watch and non-observance of the use instructions provided by TAG Heuer; watches handled by non-authorized persons
(e.g., for battery replacement, services or repairs) or having been altered or modified from their original condition anywhere other than at an authorized TAG Heuer Service Center.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

TAG Heuer and its official Service Centers shall have sole discretion to decide to repair or replace your watch under the Limited Warranty.

YOUR STATUTORY RIGHTS UNDER CONSUMER LAW:
This Limited Warranty gives you specific rights in addition to, and not instead of, statutory rights to which you may be entitled under consumer law and which may vary depending on the country where you purchased your watch. The Limited Warranty does not exclude, modify or reduce those statutory rights. For a comprehensive understanding of your rights, we encourage you to review the laws of your country, including those in connection with the conformity of goods with a sales contract.

SPECIFIC TERMS FOR AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND:
This Limited Warranty is in addition to guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law and New Zealand Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
