Danfoss HA Refrigerating Compressors

Thermal protection thermostat (PTC sensor)

Dear Customer,
Bock refrigerating compressors are high-quality, reliable, and service- friendly quality products. To guarantee the ongoing trouble-free operation of your system, please comply with the following instructions. If you have any queries, contact our technical customer service department your refrigeration wholesaler, or our agent. The Bock service team can be contacted by e-mail: service@bock.de

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Caution! Refrigerating compressors are pressurized machines and therefore require particularly careful handling.

  • Only qualified staff are allowed to handle refrigerating compressors.
  • Local safety regulations, accident prevention regulations, technical rules, and other valid specifications must be observed.
  • The maximum tolerable operating overpressure may not be exceeded (not even for test purposes).
  • Before starting the compressor, the pressure shut-off valve and suction shut-off valve are to be opened.
  • Before starting up, check that all components mounted by the user have been properly mounted and connected pressure-tight with the compressor (e.g. pipelines, bungs, union nuts, replaced parts, etc.)
  • When starting up, do not start the compressor in a vacuum. Only operate the compressor when the whole system has been filled.

General

These installation instructions describe the main procedure involved in retrofitting a thermal protection thermostat (PTC sensor) to compressor HA/HG.

Scope of delivery

  • Assembly kit no.* 097B08921
  • Assembly kit no.* 097B80907

The cable holder and cable clip (items 2 + 3) are already pre-mounted.

  • Bitte um Beachtung, dass die ehemaligen Bock ref.
  • Nummern ohne 097B sind.

Installation

  • Decommission the compressor in compliance with the safety instructions stated above and enclosed. Then (see figs.):
  • Loosen the marked cylinder cover screws.
  • Place the cable holder with the cable clip under the screw head of the cylinder cover.
  • Tighten the cylinder screws again with torque M=51 Nm.
  • Bend the cable holder until it is horizontal (to the standing plane).
  • At the intended connection point L, remove the NPTF 1/8″ bung from the cylinder cover, insert the thermal protection thermostat and screw tight.
  • Then fix the connection cable in the cable clips.
  • Fig. 6 shows how the cable is routed along the cylinder cover of the compressor.

Electrical connection
Connection to trigger device MP 10:

  • Remove the cable bridge from terminals 3 and 4 of the trigger device.
  • Insert the cable ends of the thermal protection thermostat to terminals 3 and 4 as per fig. 7.
  • When using larger compressors (series HA/HG 4 – 7), it is advisable to use thermal protection thermostats at every single pair of cylinders.
  • The thermostats are then connected up in series to a connector block (see fig. 8) in the terminal box.

Retrofitting older compressors
Older compressors are equipped with the motor protection trigger device INT 69 VS. Here the thermostats are to be connected to the terminal board:

Remove lead 2 – 2 (xxx)
Insert one cable end from the thermal protection thermostat to the terminal board and the other to the trigger device, each at terminal 2 (see fig. 9).
