  1. Install the LEAPFROG Connect Application by following the simple instructions at www.leapfrog.com/connect
  2. Insert batteries and create player profiles (up to 3).
  3. Connect the tablet to your computer and fol low the on-screen prompts.
  4. Complete registration and go to the App Center/Centre to choose your game, eBook or video. The Cartoon Creativity app and Art Studio app will download automatically. Pet Pad and LeapFrog Learning Songs are included on board.

NOTE: The Connect Application and the Cartoon Creativity and Art Studio apps may take 30-40 minutes to download with a high-speed Internet connection.

Instructions for Care

For Indoor, Dry-Location Use Only.

Keep food and beverages away from product. Do not spill liquid of any kind on this product as it may render it inoperative. Oean with a slightly damp cloth (cold water). Do not use soap, detergent or other chemicals. Never submerge the unit in water. Allow to dry before reuse. Av oid prolonged exp:isure to extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Avoid dropping the unit. Never try to dismantle it.

Cautions & Warnings

This toy is not intended for children under 3 years old.

  • CAUTION: Routinely check this toy for proper and safe condition. If there is any damage or broken parts, remove toy from use.

  • CAUTION: If for any reason the screen (display) is fractured or cracked, immediately remove this product from use and contact LeapFrog Consumer Serv ices for replacement if under warranty.

  • WARNING: It is rare but possible for seizures to be triggered by light flashes or patterns such as those on computer or TV screens. To reduce exposure to this potential hazard, play/watch in a well-lit room, sit an appropriate distance from the screen and take 10- to 15-minute breaks every hour.

  • WARNING: Cords could be a strangulation hazard. Keep out of reach of children under 3 years of age. Children pulling on the cord could cause the computer monitor, TV or other equipment to which the device is connected to fall with the possibility of property damage, serious personal injury or death. Adult supervision required during play.

  • PROTECT YOUR HEARING
    Long-term exposure to loud sounds, at high volume, may result in permanent hearing loss. When using headphones or ear buds, it is recommended that the product is listened to at lower volumes for shorter periods of time. Set the volume while in a quiet environment; turn the volume down if you cannot hear people speaking near you. Limit the listening time to 90 minutes, followed by a quiet period. The louder the volume, the less time required before your hearing may be affected. If you experience ringing in your ears or hear muffled speech, stop listening and have your hearing checked.

  • WARNING: This product contains an inaccessible magnet. Please properly recycle or dispose of the magnet if it becomes loose from the product. Seek immediate medical attention if the magnet is swallowed or inhaled.

  • WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD – Small Parts. Not for children under 3 yrs.

Parent Controls

When the sign-in menu appears, press the volume up and Home button at the same time, holding for at least one second to access the Parent Settings menu. This menu lets you manage player profiles, setup options, sneak peek controls and screen calibration settings.

Touch Screen Calibration

Your LEAPPAD2 EXPLORER™ tablet touch screen has already been calibrated for use, but if you experience either example below, you may adjust the calibration yourself:

  • Lines drawn with the stylus appear to be offset from the location of the stylus tip.
  • Objects you are trying to select are not being chosen.

Follow these steps to calibrate the touch screen:

  1. Go to the Parent Settings menu. The Screen Calibration option is highlighted by default.
  2. Tap Screen Calibration to select it.
  3. Touch each of the crosshairs with the stylus as they appear (5 in all).
  4. Press the “check” button to exit the Parent menu an:J return to the sign-in screen.

Battery Information

Battery Information and Tips for Optimal Battery Life

Requires 4 AA (called LR6 in some countries) alkaline batteries, not included.

Battery Removal and Installation Instructions

  1. Open the battery doors by pressing down with both thumbs and then pushing outwards.

  2. If used or spent batteries are present, remove these batteries from the unit by pulling up on one end of each battery. For optimal battery life, replace all 4 batteries at the same time.

  3. Install new batteries as shown in the polarity (+/-)diagram inside the battery compartment.

  4. Replace battery doors securely.
    Note: The battery doors are different sizes and are marked L or R on the inside for reference in proper replacement.

  5. For Europe and Australia Only-Please note: Once installed, LeapFrog custom design rechargeable battery packs are not removable. As such, never try t o remove the battery packs as it will render the toy inoperable. See NOTICE below.

Tips to Extend Battery Life

  • Use alkaline batteries when installing non-rechargeable batteries.
  • Use NiMH AA batteries of 2650mAh when installing rechargeable batteries.
  • When connecting the LEAPPAD2 tablet to your computer, use the optional power adapter. (Adapter sold separately.)

Battery Safety

Batteries are small objects and may pose a choking hazard for small children. Batteries must be replaced by an adult. Follow the polarity (+/-)diagram in the battery compartment. Promptly remove dead batteries from the toy. Dispose of used batteries properly. Remove batteries for prolonged storage. Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.

  • DO NOT incinerate used batteries.
  • DO NOT dispose of batteries in fire, as batteries may explode or leak.
  • DO NOT mix old and new batteries or types of batteries (e.g., alkaline/standard).
  • DO NOT recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
  • DO NOT use rechargeable batteries.
  • DO NOT short-circuit the supply terminals.
  • AA or LR6 size rechargeab le batteries are to be removed from the toy before being charged.
  • A Recharging System, including custom designed battery packs for charging the batteries while installed in the product, is available from LeapFrog.

Power Adapter Safety

  • WARNING: Adapter cord could be a strangulation hazard.
  • CAUTION – ELECTRIC TOY Not recommended for children under 3 years of age. As with all electrical products, precautions should be observed during the handling and use to prevent electrical shock.

FOR INDOOR, DRY-LOCATION USE ONLY.

The transformer is not a toy and should be connected to the wall outlet by an adult. It should be periodically examined for conditions that may result in the risk of fire, electrical shock or injury to pers:ms, such as damage to the cord, plug, blades, housing or other parts, and in the event of such conditions, the transformer must not be used until the damage is repaired. The cord of the transformer cannot be replaced; if the cord is damaged, dispose of the transformer in accordance with your local electrical product recycling regulations. Transformers and power supplies for toys are not intended to be used as toys, and the use of these products by children shall be under the full supervision of parents.

  • The toy must only be used with a transformer for toys.
  • The toy is not to be connected to more than the recommended number of power supplies.
  • Toys to be cleaned with a liquid are to be disconnected from the transformer before cleaning.
  • To clean transformer, disconnect it from the wall and clean with a cloth dampened with water. Do not immerse in water or use soap or other chemicals. Allow to dry before reusing. Do not connect to the AC outlet if wet or damaged.

Environmental Phenomena
