INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing the Learn & Groove® Jazzy Saxophone.
Enjoy music and early learning with the features and playful tunes of this toy. Turn the dial to explore colors, numbers, jazz-inspired music and the sounds of 5 different musical instruments, and also fun cat meow sounds. Press the numbered music keys to play musical notes and blow into the mouthpiece to play a jazzy flourish and create a colorful light show. Follow the included double-sided music cards to play four familiar melodies.

NOTE: The Learn & Groove® Jazzy Saxophone uses IR technology that may not work well in full sunlight conditions. Please do not use the toy in direct sunlight.

INSTRUCTIONS

Battery Removal and Installation

  1. Make sure the unit is turned Off.
  2. Find the battery cover located on the bottom of the unit, use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and then open the battery cover.
  3. Remove old battery by pulling up on one end of the battery.
  4. Install 3 new AAA (AM-4/LR03) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (For best performance, alkaline batteries or fully charged Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are recommended.)
  5. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.

WARNING: Adult assembly required for battery installation. Keep batteries out of reach of children.

IMPORTANT: BATTERY INFORMATION

  • Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -).
  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable batteries.
  • Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
  • Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
  • Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
  • Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
  • Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.

RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES

  • Remove rechargeable batteries (if removable) from the toy before charging.
  • Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
  • Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.

PRODUCT FEATURES

  1. Off/Low/High Volume Selector
    Slide the selector to Low   or High to turn the device on and select the desired volume. To turn the unit off, slide the selector to the Off position.

  2. Mode Selection Dial
    Turn the dial to choose among saxophone, bass, accordion, clarinet, cat meow, drums, jazz band, colors and numbers.

  3. LED Light-up Bell
    Blow into the saxophone or press the numbered music keys to create a light show in the saxophone’s bell.


  4. LED Jazzy Cat Button Press the LED Jazzy Cat Button to hear Jazzy Cat and jazz-inspired music. Every mode has a different mix.

  5. Blow Sensor & **Removable Mouthpiece** Blow into the green mouthpiece to trigger jazz music and flourishes. To remove, pull with some force. Clean with soap and water. Make sure the mouthpiece is dry before inserting on the saxophone.

  6. Numbered Music Keys
    Press any of the 8 keys to hear musical notes while in instrument modes and hear colors or numbers while in learning modes.

  7. Handle The built-in handle on the Learn & Groove® Jazzy Saxophone makes it easy to hold and play or blow in mouthpiece at the same time.

  8. Feet
    Learn & Groove® Jazzy Saxophone features 4 feet on the bottom of the bell for sitting upright on hard surfaces.

  9. Automatic Shut Off
    To preserve battery life, the Learn & Groove® Jazzy Saxophone will automatically shut off after approximately 60 seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button or turning the dial.

  10. Double-sided Music Cards
    Follow the notes using the color and number cues on the music cards to play four different classic melodies.

Activities

  1. Instrument Modes: Turn the dial to select an instrument and press keys to play.
  2. Jazz Band Mode: Play along as part of a jazz ensemble, then take your turn with a solo. Jazz-inspired tunes loop with a call-and-response play pattern designed to engage children in musical play.
  3. Numbers Mode: Press the numbered music keys to hear numbers and see the LED bell light up.
  4. Colors Mode: Press the numbered music keys to hear color names and see each corresponding color in the LED bell.
  5. Jazzy Cat Mode: Press the Jazzy Cat Button to hear Jazzy Cat talk, sing and listen to music.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

  1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth. To remove the green mouthpiece, pull with some force. Clean with soap and water. Make sure the mouthpiece is dry before inserting on the saxophone.
  2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat sources.
  3. Remove the batteries if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.
  4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:

  1. Please turn the unit Off.
  2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
  3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
  4. Turn the unit back On. The unit should now be ready to use again.
  5. If the unit still does not work, install a new set of batteries.

Environmental Phenomena

The unit may malfunction if subjected to radio-frequency interference. It should revert to normal operation when the interference stops. If not, it may become necessary to turn the power Off and back On, or remove and reinstall the batteries. In the unlikely event of an electrostatic discharge, the unit may malfunction and lose memory, requiring the user to reset the device by removing and reinstalling the batteries.
