Preface
Dear customer,
Thank you for choosing this product.
Please read these instructions carefully and keep them for future reference.
This operating manual is part of the device! If you sell or pass on the
device, please make sure you also hand over the operating manual.
1.2. Intended use
This product is a consumer electronics device.
The device serves as a receiver for Internet/FM and DAB+ radio signals and for
playing back audio files saved on a USB storage device or on a network drive.
Any other operation or use of the device is considered improper and can lead
to personal injury or property damage.
Do not use the device for any other purpose.
Only operate the device indoors.
The device is only intended for private and not for commercial use.
We assume that the operator of the device has general knowledge of handling
consumer electronics devices.
Liability expires in the event of improper use.

2.2. Safety notice

Check the device before use.
In the event of damage or a defect, the device must not be put into operation.

physical and mental abilities) or a lack of experience and knowledge.
- Only keep the device in places inaccessible to children.
- This device can be used by children from 8 years of age and by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and/or knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed in how to use the device safely and have understood the resulting dangers.
- Never let children use the device unsupervised.

- Packaging material is not a toy!
- Do not store the packaging materials used (bags, polystyrene pieces, etc.) within the reach of children.
Children are not allowed to play with the packaging.
There is a risk of suffocation, especially with packaging films.
2.3. Operational safety

There is a risk of electric shock or fire due to accidental short circuits.

Check the device for damage before each use.
If you notice visible damage or if the device shows visible damage, do not use it anymore. -
If you discover a technical or mechanical problem, please contact TELESTAR Service.

Only use the power adapter included in the scope of delivery!
Never use any other power adapter. -
Never open the housing of the device.

Immediately disconnect the device from the power source in the event of malfunction. To do this, immediately disconnect the power adapter from the power socket and the device.

Only use replacement parts and accessories that have been supplied or approved by us.

Do not convert the device and do not use any additional devices or replacement parts that have not been explicitly approved or supplied by us.

Do not use the device in potentially explosive areas.
These include for example fuel storage areas, tank sys- tems, or areas in which solvents are stored or processed.

Do not operate the device in areas with air contaminated with particles (e.g. flour or wood dust)Malfunctions can take the form of heating of the device or smoke development from the device or the device’s power adapter.
Loud or unusual noises can also be a sign of a malfunction. -
In this case, pull the power adapter out of the power socket immediately.

Only touch the power adapter by the housing.
Never pull the power adapter out of the socket by the cable.
After a malfunction, the device must not be used until it has been checked or repaired by a qualified person. -
If you bring the device from a cold to a warm environment, moisture can form inside the device.
In this case, wait about an hour before using it. -
Unplug the device from the power socket if you are absent for a longer period or during a thunderstorm.
Make sure that contact with moisture, water or splash water is avoided and that no objects filled with liquids – e.g. vases – are placed on or near the appliance or power adapter. -
If foreign bodies or liquids get into the device or the power adapter, pull the power adapter out of the socket immediately.
Have the device checked by qualified personnel before you use it again.
Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock. -
Make sure that the device or the power adapter is not exposed to dripping or splashing water and that there are no open sources of fire (e.g. burning candles) near the device or the power adapter.

The power adapter must never be touched or handled with wet or damp hands.
2.4. Connect device
- Only connect the device to a properly installed, earthed and electrically protected socket.
- Please ensure that the power source (socket) is easily accessible.
- Do not kink or crush any cable connections.
- Before using the device, check whether the voltage information on the device corresponds to the local mains voltage. The information on the power adapter must correspond to the local mains supply.
- Only connect the radio to a properly installed socket of 220– 240 V AC, 50–60 Hz.
- Place the radio on a firm, level surface.
- The device consumes power in standby mode.
To completely disconnect the device from the mains, the power adapter must be unplugged from the socket.
2.5. Protect the device from defects
NOTE!

Unfavourable environmental conditions such as moisture, excessive heat or lack of ventilation can damage the device.

Only use the device in dry rooms.
Avoid the direct vicinity of: Heat sources such as radi- ators, open flames such as candles and devices with strong magnetic fields such as speakers.
Do not expose the device to extreme conditions, e.g. direct sunlight, high humidity, moisture, extremely high or low temperatures, open fire. -
Ensure that there is sufficient distance to other objects so that the device is not covered so that adequate ventilation is always guaranteed.

Avoid direct sunlight and locations with an unusually large amount of dust.

Do not place any heavy objects on the device or the power adapter.

2.6. Risk of injury
WARNING!
Excessive sound pressure when using earphones or headphones can cause damage
or loss of hearing.
Listening with earphones or headphones at a high volume for a long period of
time can cause injury to the user.
Please check the volume before inserting or putting on headphones or putting
earphones in your ears.
Set the volume to a low value and only increase the volume enough that you
still find it comfortable.
2.7. Notes on the radio interface
The device generates an electromagnetic field.
Please pay attention to notices in your area that prohibit or restrict the
operation of electronic devices.
This may be the case, for example, in hospitals, at petrol stations and tank
farms or at airports.
If there are corresponding warnings, disconnect the device from the power
immediately.
The components contained in the device generate electromagnetic energy and
magnetic fields. These can affect medical devices such as pacemakers or
defibrillators.
Therefore, please keep a safe and sufficient distance between medical devices
and the radio.
If you have reason to believe that the radio is causing interference with a
medical device, immediately turn off or unplug the radio.
2.8. Handling batteries
In principle, only use the type of battery included in the scope of delivery.
DANGER!
Risk of injury!
Improper handling of batteries poses a risk of injury!
Never open batteries, short-circuit them or throw them into open flames.
Never charge batteries. Attempting to charge batteries can create a risk of
explosion.
The polarity must be respected! Make sure that the plus (+) and minus (-)
poles are inserted correctly to avoid a short circuit.
Use only batteries specified for this product.
Remove batteries from the device if it is not going to be used for a long
time.
Remove exhausted or leaking batteries from the device immediately.
If batteries have leaked, there is a risk of burns if they come into contact
with the skin.
Keep both new and used batteries out of the reach of children.
There is a risk of internal injury if batteries are swallowed.
The battery acid in the batteries can cause injuries if it comes into contact
with the skin.
In the event of accidental ingestion or if there are signs of skin burns,
rinse the affected areas with clean water and get medical help immediately.
Batteries are not toys!
Always keep new and used batteries away from children.
Remove leaking batteries from the device immediately and clean the contacts
before inserting new batteries.
WARNING!
There is a risk of explosion if batteries are used improperly!
- Only use new batteries of the same type.
- Please never use new and old batteries together in one device.
- Pay attention to the correct polarity when inserting the batteries.
- Never charge batteries.
- Batteries should only be stored in cool and dry places.
- Never throw batteries into fire.
- If the device is not used for a long time, please remove the batteries from the device.
- Never expose batteries to extreme heat or direct sunlight.
- Batteries must not be deformed or opened.
- Stop using the remote control if the battery door no longer closes properly.
2.9. Cleaning the device
Before cleaning, unplug the device from the socket.
Use a dry, soft cloth to clean the device. Please do not use any liquids to
clean the device.
Do not use any solvents or cleaning agents as these can damage the surface
and/or the writing on the device.
Children should not clean the device.
SCOPE OF DELIVERY
Please take all parts out of the packaging and completely remove all packaging
materials.

OVERVIEW OF THE CONTROLS

List
Calls up a list of the last 10 selected radio stations. -
Station memory button 1 / Multimedia controls
Use these buttons to switch to a desired programme memory location in radio mode.
Starts or pauses the playback of music tracks on a connected USB storage device. -
Menu
Keeping the button pressed for more than 2 seconds calls up the main menu of the device. -
Station memory button 4 / Multimedia controls
Use these buttons to switch to a desired programme memory location in radio mode.
Use this button to select the next track or fast forward in USB/Media mode. -
Station memory button 3 / Multimedia controls
Use these buttons to switch to a desired programme memory location in radio mode.
Use this button to select the previous track or fast reverse in USB/Media mode. -
Preset
Calls up the favourite programme list. -
Recording
Starts a recording of the current radio programme on a connected USB storage device.
Press and hold the button for more than 2 seconds to activate the timer menu for recording a radio broadcast. -
Station memory button 2 / Multimedia controls
Use these buttons to switch to a desired programme memory location in radio mode.
■ Stops a current playback in USB/Media mode. -
Volume control, confirmation button
Use the control dial to change the volume or confirm menu entries by pressing this button. -
Back
This button takes you one step back in the menu. -
Power button on-off
Press this button to switch the device on or to standby. -
Mode
Switches between the different operating modes of the radio (Internet radio, FM, DAB +, AUX, USB, UPnP, Bluetooth). -
USB port
Connect the device to a USB storage device here to update the firmware if necessary. The connection can also be used to charge a USB device. The maximum charging current is 1 A.
Or connect a USB storage device such as a USB hard drive or USB stick to play music files or record radio broadcasts. -
Headphone jack
Plug in headphones here to listen to the music played by the radio through headphones.
If headphones are connected, the playback of music through the loudspeakers of the device will be interrupted. -
AUX IN
Connect an external audio source such as MP3 player, smart phone or tablet with the 3.5 mm AUX jack cable (see also chapter 8.8.) -
Power adapter connector
Connect the device to this socket with the power adapter (included).
REMOTE CONTROL
The radio can be operated both via the device buttons and the remote control. Operation via the remote control is the more comfortable and easier way to operate the device.

Standby button
Use this button to switch the device on or off. -
Mode
Switch between the various operating modes here. -
Mute
Mutes the sound of the device. -
EQ equaliser function
With this button you can activate the equaliser function and make custom sound settings. -
Back
This button takes you one step back in the menu. -
Navigation up/down – right/left / Volume VOL + Use these buttons to navigate through the menu. Use the ◄ ► buttons to decrease or increase the volume.

Confirm an entry with this button. -
LIST/programme list Calls up a list of the last 10 selected radio stations.

FAV+ With this button,you can add a selected radio station to the favourites list.

Activate the menu of the device with this button -

Starts a recording of the current radio programme on a connected USB storage device.
Press and hold the button for more than 2 seconds to activate the timer menu for recording a radio broadcast. -
Numeric keypad

Use this button to increase the volume. -
VOL –
Use this button to decrease the volume. -
SLEEP
Press this button to set a sleep timer. The radio switches to standby after the period you have set.
INSTALLATION
6.1 General operating instructions
- Switch the device on or off with the standby button on the remote control.
- Increase the volume with the VOL+ button on the remote control.
- Reduce the volume with the VOL- button on the remote control.
- The menu items can be accessed using the ▼ ▲ buttons.
- You can confirm a selection with the ENTER button.
6.2. Prepare the remote control
Remove the battery transport lock on the remote control. To do this, pull out
the plastic tab on the battery housing of the remote control. This establishes
the battery contact.
To replace the remote control battery, open the battery compartment on the
back of the remote control.
Pull the battery compartment out of the remote control.
Remove the battery and insert a new battery of the same type.
There is a risk of explosion if batteries are used improperly!
Read the safety instructions in chapter 2.8 on this.
Pay attention to the correct polarity of the battery!
Then insert the battery compartment again.
6.3. Power connection
Connect the included power adapter to the corresponding port on the rear of
the device. Now plug the power adapter into a 230V socket.
Turn on the radio using the standby button on the remote control or on the
device.
The device will start. 6.4. Language selection
Use the up/down buttons on the remote control to select the menu language.
Confirm the desired menu language with the ENTER button on the remote control.
6.5. Date time mode
Select how the radio should synchronise the time here.
Use the up/down buttons on the remote control to make selections. Confirm with
the ENTER button on the remote control or on the device.The device is configured to
automatic time setting at the factory. When the device is connected to the
Internet via network, the time and date are automatically synchronised. It is
not necessary then to set the time.You can change these settings at any time
in the main menu under System.
6.6. GMT time zone
Select the time zone you are in here. For Germany and most of Europe, select
GMT + 1:00.Use the up/down buttons on the remote control to
make selections. Confirm with the ENTER button on the remote control or on the
device.
6.7. Daylight saving
Switch on daylight saving time here if it is currently daylight saving time.
Use the up/down buttons on the remote control to make selections.
Confirm with the ENTER button on the remote control or on the
device.
6.8. Location settings
Select the location where you are here.
Select the continent and in the next step the country in which you are
located.Use the up/down buttons on the remote control
to make selections. Confirm with the ENTER button on the remote control or on
the device. 6.9. Network selection
In the next step, you will be shown all the available WiFi networks that are
within range of the device. Select the network you are connecting to and
confirm with the ENTER button.
Enter the WiFi key. Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control
dial on the device to select a character, and use ► to jump forward.
Confirm your entry via the OK field. Please note that the registration process
on the router can take some time.
SETTINGS
7.1. Basic operation
7.1.1. Menu button
Hold the Menu button on the device or on the remote control for approx. 2
seconds.
This always takes you to the main menu of the device, regardless of the
current setting of the device.
The main menu is navigated using the ►◄ buttons.
The main menu of the device consists of the following Menu items:You can
access the individual menu items using the arrow keys►◄.
Confirm your selection with OK button on the remote control or by pressing the
ENTER button on the device.
7.1.2. Back button
Use the Back button (Button 10 on the device fig. page 24 / Button 5 on the
remote control (fig. page 28) to go one step back in each setting.
7.1.3. List button
By pressing the List button in radio mode, you get an overview of the most
recent radio stations set.
7.1.4. Mode button
Use the Mode button to switch the different operating modes of the radio.
7.2. System Press
the MENU button on the remote control or on the device, and use the ►◄ buttons
on the remote control or the the control dial on the device to select the menu
item System .
Confirm your selection with ENTER button on the remote control or by pressing
the ENTER button on the device.
Under this menu item you can make individual settings for the device. 7.2.1
Language
Use the up/down buttons on the remote control to select the menu language.
Confirm the desired menu language with the ENTER button on the remote control.
7.2.2 Date and time
Use the up/down buttons on the remote control to make selections.
Confirm with the ENTER button on the remote control or on the device. The
device is factory-configured for automatic time setting. If the device is
connected to the Internet via the network, the time and date are automatically
synchronised. It is then not necessary to set the time.Select how the radio
should synchronise the time here. 7.2.3. Network
In order for the device to function as an Internet radio, the radio must be
connected to a network with Internet access.
If you have not already done this in the initial installation, you can set up
the network connection in this menu item.
Press the MENU button on the remote control or on the device and use the ►◄
buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to select the
menu item System .
Confirm your selection with ENTER button on the remote control or by pressing
the ENTER button on the device. Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control to
select the menu item Network . Confirm your selection with ENTER button on the
remote control or by pressing the ENTER button on the device.
Using the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control, select the network with which a
connection is to be established and confirm with ENTER.
Enter the WiFi key. Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control
dial on the device to select a character, and use ► to jump forward.
Confirm your entry via the OK field. Please note that the registration process
can take some time.
7.2.4. Alarm / alarm clock
The device can be used as a radio alarm clock.
In this menu item, you can set to 2 alarm times.
In addition, you can set whether the alarm clock should use a sound or an
Internet radio station.
To set an alarm time, please proceed as follows:
Press the MENU button on the remote control or on the device, and using the ►◄
buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device, select the
menu item System . Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control
dial on the device to select the menu item
Alarm, and press the ENTER button on the remote control or confirm by pressing
the volume control on the device. Select Alarm 1 or Alarm 2 and confirm by
pressing the volume control on the device or via the OK button on the remote
control. Activate the alarm clock via the Status line.
In the next line, set the time at which the alarm clock should be activated.
Use the numeric keypad on the remote control or the control dial on the device
for this.
To confirm the individual entries, they must be saved with the ENTER button.
Set the repetition intervals in the Date line.
You can decide whether the alarm clock should be activated once, daily, on
weekdays or only on weekends at the set time.
Set the volume in the next line, with which the alarm clock should be
activated.
In the Beep line you can decide whether the alarm clock should sound with a
signal tone, or whether the alarm should sound with an Internet radio station,
DAB radio station or FM station.
Please note that when selecting FM, DAB/DAB + or Internet radio station at
least one favourite station must be saved for the respective type.
To stop an alarm, press the STANDBY button on the remote control or on the
device.
To activate the snooze function, press the control dial on the device when the
alarm sounds. This pauses the alarm for 5 minutes.
The alarm is reactivated after 5 minutes. To deactivate the alarm until the
next day, press the Standby/Power button on the device.
7.2.5. Edit timer
In this menu you can edit a set recording timer. Please read chapter 8.13 on
this.
7.2.6. Standby mode
With this function you can adjust the display in standby mode.
Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to
select the menu item Standby mode, and press the ENTER button on the remote
control or confirm by pressing the volume control on the device. Select the
desired function here and confirm by pressing the volume control on the device
or the OK button on the remote control.
Eco standby
In this mode, the device has a very low power consumption in standby. The
standby time is not displayed.
Standby with time
In this mode, the time is displayed in standby if you turn the device off with
the standby button.
The power consumption increases slightly.
If you hold down the standby button for a longer period, the Eco standby mode
is activated.
Auto standby
In this mode, the device automatically switches to standby after a set time if
no operation is performed during this period.
7.2.7. Sleep timer
The radio automatically switches to standby mode via the sleep timer function.
Here you can set the time after which the device switches off automatically.
Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to
select the menu item Sleep timer and press the ENTER button on the remote
control or confirm by pressing the volume control on the device. Select Off to
disable this feature or select a preset time between 10 and 120 minutes.
Confirm your entry with OK on the remote control or confirm by pressing the
control dial on the device.
7.2.8. Backlight
With this function you can change the brightness of the display.
Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to
select the Backlight menu item in the System menu and press the ENTER button
on the remote control or confirm by pressing the volume control on the
device.You can adjust the backlight for both operation
and standby mode.
Use ►◄ buttons or the control dial on the device and confirm with ENTER.
7.2.9. Location setting
With this setting you can set the region you are in. The radio uses the local
radio function to select radio stations in your area in this setting.
Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to
select the menu item Location setting in the System menu and press the ENTER
button on the remote control or confirm by pressing the volumecontrol on
thedevice.
Then select the continent and the country in which you are located.
7.2.10. Software update
An update of the operating software may be necessary to improve the functions
of the device. You can use the USB interface to update the operating software
of your radio, which can be downloaded from
www.telestar.de if necessary.
The software made available on the website must be unzipped. Execute the
unzipped file on a suitable storage medium and connect it to the radio via
USB.
Please follow the procedure for the software update from the description
provided when downloading the software.
7.2.11. Default settings
In this menu item you can reset the device to the default settings.
The device then starts with the first commissioning.
Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device,
to select the menu item Default settings in the System menu and press the
ENTER button on the remote control orconfirm by pressing the volume control
on the device.Confirm with OK if you want to call up the
default settings. Select Cancel if you want to cancel this action.
If you activate the default settings, the device is set to factory settings at
the time of delivery. All saved stations and favourites lists will be lost.
7.2.12. Version
In this menu item you can find and view information about the firmware version
installed on the device.
Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to
select the menu item Version and press the ENTER button on the remote control
or confirm by pressing the volume control on the device.
SERVICE
8.1. Select Internet radio station
Use the Arrow keys►◄ to select the Internet radio menu item in the main menu
of the device and confirm your selection with the OK button on the remote
control or by pressing the ENTER button on the device. As soon as you have switched to Internet radio mode, the radio
switches to the last tuned radio station.
If no Internet radio station has yet been selected, you will be taken to the
overview.Various lists are available here.
Favourites list
This list shows you all individually saved radio stations. To save a radio
station, please also read chapter 8.4.
Radio
Under this item, you can see various radio programme lists.
Podcasts
Here you can choose from a number of radio podcasts.
History
This list contains the 10 radio stations that were selected last.
Search
You can use this function to search for a specific radio station.
8.2. Search for an Internet radio station
Select the Search line and confirm with the ENTER button on the
device.Enter the name of the radio station in
the search field using the keyboard on the remote control.
Use the ▼ ▲ ►◄ buttons to do this.
Confirm your entry with ENTER.
The radio will now search for all stations that correspond to this entry.
Select a station with the▼ ▲ buttons and confirm with the ENTER button on the
device.
8.3. Save radio stations
You can save up to 4 radio stations on one station memory button.
Select a radio station that you want to store and hold down the station memory
button on the device on which you want to store the radio station for approx.
3 seconds.
The radio station is will be saved.
The radio station can now be called up using this button.
8.4. Save radio stations in favourites list
Radio stations can be saved in a favourites list that you can quickly call up
using the favourites button on the remote control.
In this list, you can store up to 10 favourite radio programmes.
Select a radio station that you want to save to the favourites list.
Press the FAV+ button on the remote control.
Select a storage location number on which you want to save the radio station.
Hold the FAV+ button on the remote control for approx. 2 seconds.
The radio station will be saved in the selected location.
8.5. Local radio stations
To make it easier for you to search for stations in your area in Internet
radio mode, you can search specifically for radio stations in your are in the
device menu.
Use the ►◄ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to
select local radio in the main menu of the device.Under this menu item, there is a selection of different Internet
radio stations sorted by region, which can be accessed more easily this way.
In this menu item, select the desired programme list via the ▼ ▲
buttons.Confirm your entry with ENTER.
8.6. Change volume
Change the volume using the VOL+ / VOL- buttons on the remote control or using
the control dial on the device. To mute the radio sound, press the Mute button
on the remote control.
8.7. Switch operating mode
Press the MODE button on the remote control to switch between the AUX,
Internet radio or UPnP operating modes.
8.8. AUX IN
You can connect an external music playback device, such as an MP3 player to
the radio.
To do this, use a suitable cable to connect an external device to the back of
the radio and turn on the external device.
Press the MENU button on the remote control or on the device, and using the ►◄
buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device, select AUX on
the device.
Confirm with OK on the remote control or by pressing the ENTER button on the
device.
Alternatively, you can switch to AUX mode by pressing the MODE button on the
device repeatedly until the AUX mode is activated.You can now play music from the external
device. Control (title forwards, backwards, stop, play) takes place via the
connected device. The playback volume can be adjusted via the VOL+ / VOL-
buttons or the volume control on the radio or via the external device.Please
note that you have to connect the external device using a suitable cable.
The AUX IN input on the radio is prepared for a 3.5 mm stereo jack plug.
8.9. UPnP
If the radio is integrated into a wireless network, the radio can also be used
as a media player to play music files from connected devices in the network
such as PCs or smartphones via UPnP.
This requires the integration of the devices in the same home network and
sharing of the corresponding media content on this network.
To select UPnP, do the following:
Press the MENU button on the remote control or on the device, and using the ►◄
buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device, select UPnP.
Confirm with OK on the remote control or by pressing the ENTER button on the
device.
Select a track you want to play and confirm with the ENTER button on the
device. 8.10. USB
playback
You can play MP3 music files from a USB storage device.
To do this, insert a USB storage device with music files into the USB port on
the back.
Press the MENU button on the remote control or on the device, and using the ►◄
buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device, select
Multimedia.
Confirm with OK on the remote control or by pressing the ENTER button on the
device.
Select a track you want to play and confirm with the ENTER button on the
device.
8.11. EQ (equaliser)
In this area you can select certain sound presets. In addition to several
sound presets, you can also custom set the sound on your radio and save this
setting under My EQ.
Use the ▼ ▲ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to
select the menu item Equaliser in the main menu and press the ENTER button on
the remote control or confirm by pressing the volume control on the
device.Use the ▼
▲ buttons on the remote control or the control dial on the device to select a
sound preset and confirm with OK on the remote control or by pressing the
volume control on the device.
Under the menu item My EQ profile, you can change the basic setting of the
radio. Here you can set the cutoff frequency for high notes (Treble) and low
notes (Bass) according to your tastes.In the EQ Advanced Settings item you can adjust
various frequency ranges. 8.12. Weather
The device can show current weather information from your location.
To view the weather information, in main menu of the radio, select the Weather
menu item and confirm with OK.Via the LIST button on the remote control or on
the device, you can change the location for the weather report.
To do this, enter the name of the city from which you want to call up the
current weather information.
If the device is connected to the Internet, you can have it show weather
information on the device display.
Please note:
For the weather forecast, the device accesses an Internet server on which the
weather information is stored.
Therefore, the displayed weather data may differ from the actual weather data
at your location.
8.13. Record radio broadcasts
The device can record radio broadcasts on a USB storage device.
The radio creates a folder on the connected USB storage device in which all
recordings are saved. The folder is named PVR. The files are saved in MP3
format.
You can record a broadcast directly on the fly if you have a USB storage
device connected to the radio.
While a programme is on, press the Record button (Rec) on the device or on the
remote control. A red recording symbol appears in the display. To stop
recording, pres thes Stop button and confirm with OK. Similar to a video or
DVD recorder, the radio can also be used to programme timed recordings to
record radio broadcasts when you are not at home, for example. To do this,
hold the Record button on the device or on the remote control for more than 2
seconds.
Alternatively, select the Timer recording menu item in the System menu.

time here during which the timer should be activated using the up/ down arrow
buttons on the remote control or the control dial.

8.14. Bluetooth
The radio can optionally be connected to an external device (e.g. Smart phone
/ tablet).
Media can then be played back via the Bluetooth connection (locally stored MP3
files, streamed music, web radio) from an external device via the radio.
Select the Bluetooth menu item via the menu.
A Bluetooth connection must be established so that you can transmit audio
files to the radio via Bluetooth.
8.14.1. Establish a Bluetooth connection
When you have selected the Bluetooth mode on the radio, it enters pairing mode
and searches for a connection to Bluetooth devices.
Now activate the Bluetooth function of the external device to be connected
(for more information, see the operating instructions for the device to be
connected).
Search in the overview of the available devices for DIRA M14i or DIRA S24i,
select this and establish the connection. You will hear a beep.
8.14.2. Play media via bluetooth
Once you have established a Bluetooth connection as described in chapter
8.14.1, you can play music files saved on the external devices on the radio.
To do this, proceed as follows:
Start playing the music on the external device, by using the appropriate
playback function (MP3 player etc.) or select a track from the respective
playlist and start playback.
8:15 AM. DAB+ radio
In this radio mode, you can receive digitally broadcast radio stations.
Press the MENU button on the remote control or on the device use the ►◄
buttons to select the menu item DAB/DAB+.
Confirm your selection by pressing the control dial on the device or by
pressing the ENTER button on the remote control.
8.15.1. Station list
Press the List button to call up the DAB station list in the device.
You can now call up your desired station via this station list.
Please note that a DAB station list is only available if a DAB station search
was successfully carried out.
Please also read chapter 8.15.2.
8.15.2. DAB search
To perform an automatic station search in the DAB receiving mode, press the
Back button several times as necessary.
Should the radio not yet have any programmes stored in DAB mode, a search is
started automatically as soon as the radio is switched to DAB receiving mode.
Switch to the Automatic station search line and confirm with the Enter/OK
button on the remote control or by pressing the control dial on the device.
The radio now automatically searches for all receivable digital radio stations
and then saves them in a station list. You can call these up as described in
chapter 8.15.1.The number on the right shows the
number of radio stations found.
After a successful search, the radio starts playing the first station found.
8.15.3. DAB manual search
You can also search for DAB radio stations manually.
The transmission frequency must be known for this.
Use this menu item to select the desired transmission frequency and confirm
with ENTER.
8.16. FM (VHF) ANALOG radio
In this menu item you can receive analogue FM radio stations.
When the radio is switched to FM/VHF mode for the first time, a station search
must be carried out. An automatic and a manual search function are available
for this.
8.16.1. Automatic FM search
After you have switched to FM, press the List button on the device. Hold the
OK button until the search starts.The device starts the automatic
station search and saves all frequencies on which a radio station was found.
Please note that the sensitivity of the reception and the associated number of
radio stations found depends on the search sensitivity settings. To change the
search sensitivity, press the Menu button in the FM mode. Choose between “All
stations”, “Weak stations” and “Strong stations”.
TROUBLESHOOTING

Check the volume setting of the paired device from which you are playing
music.
Network connection cannot be established| Check the WiFi function.
Activate the DHCP function of the router to which the radio is to be
registered.
A firewall may be active in the network.
WiFi connection can- not be established| Check the availability of WiFi
networks.
Reduce the distance between the WiFi router and the radio.
Make sure that you are using the correct WEP/WPA password when logging into a
WiFi router.
No Internet radio stations available| Check the network access points. The
radio station is currently unavailable.
The sender’s link has been changed or is no longer transmitting.
USB storage device is not recognised| Make sure that the USB storage device is
formatted FAT32 or NTFS.
No sound is coming from the device. All other functions OK.| Headphones are
plugged into the device.
Unplug the headphones.
DAB+ reception disturbed| No stations available Perform a search.
Antenna not fully extended. Change the location of the radio (possibly closer
to the window), perform another search.
FM reception disturbed| Antenna not fully extended, Pull the FM antenna to the
fully extended length. Change the location of the radio.
STORAGE
When not in use, please unplug the power adapter from the socket, disconnect
the power adapter cable from the radio and store the device in a dry place
protected from dust.
The battery must be removed from the remote control if it is not used for a
longer period of time.
