Purpose

The intent of this technical instruction is to provide guidance for connecting TPIS output to the Lynx Fleet device.

Prerequisites:

  • Lynx Fleet™ firmware 7.xx or higher.
  • TPIS must be activated in the Lynx Fleet website (Carrier administered).
  • Cannot be used if temperature probe is connected directly to Lynx Fleet device on TEMP1 wire.

Instructions:

  • Locate the +12VDC switched source from TPIS system. This is usually an indicator light (or LED) located on the front wall of the trailer. When the TPIS system is activated (inflating tires) the light will receive 12VDC and illuminate.
Connect the TEMP1 wire from the Lynx Fleet harness to the 12VDC switched source on TPIS.

  • Extending the TEMP1 wire will be required. Use properly insulated 18 AWG wire as extension. Use butt splice for 18 AWG wire and proper crimping tool.
Sometimes the 12VDC switched source on TPIS is found in the 7-Way plug.

  • Install an inline 3-amp fuse no more than 6” from the TPIS indicator light.

  • Proper protection should be made to the wire from Lynx Fleet harness to the TPIS 12VDC source.

    • Proper sheathing to prevent chafing, use cloth tape 02-00137-00M25.
    • Use p-clamp (or similar) to the trailer wall to prevent vibration.
    • Secure with p-clamps no more than 12” apart. Secure to trailer wall tight enough to prevent rotation.
    • Do not route wire near any sharp corners.
  • Notify Carrier Lynx Fleet team to turn on the TPIS event.
