INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Thread locking compound must be applied to threads as noted with (4) symbol to prevent accidental rotation of fixture during cleaning, relamping, etc.

  1. Rotate fixture arms up 90 degrees into position as shown (Fig. 1).KICHLER-52721NI-Madden-6-Light-45-Wide-Taper-Candle-Linear-Chandelier-fig \(2\)
NOTE: Sockets[S] should all face upward when in the final position.

  2. On side of the fixture with fixture wires, screw long threaded tube[P] into the coupling[L] (on the main body[R]).
NOTE: Long threaded tube should be screwed into the coupling completely, and hex nut near the end of long threaded tube should be snug against the coupling.

  3. Lower decorative tube[I] down over long threaded tube, carefully passing threads on end of long threaded tube[P] through hole in top of the decorative tube. Carefully seat decorative tube on top of fixture.

  4. Screw round coupling[M] onto threads protruding from top of the decorative tube. Tighten the round coupling to secure the decorative tube in place.
NOTE: The 6-inch stem that is preinstalled to the round coupling must be used when mounting the fixture. The 6-inch stem that is preinstalled to the round coupling should NOT be removed from the round coupling.

  5. On the side of the fixture without fixture wires, repeat Steps 2-4 (but without fixture wires).

  6. On the side of the fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires through desired number of additional short threaded tubes[N] and stems[J]. Screw stems together using short threaded tubes.

  7. On the side of the fixture without fixture wires, repeat Step 6 (using same number of stems and short threaded tubes, but without fixture wires).

  8. On the side of the fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires from last stem through loop[K].

  9. On both sides of the fixture, screw loop onto the end of the last stem.

  10. Use chain links[O] to connect the loops installed to the stems to the loops attached to canopy[H]. Close the open chain links by placing a piece of cloth over each link and using a pair of pliers to gently squeeze the link closed.
NOTE: Connect the side of the fixture with fixture wires to the side of the canopy that has safety cable[A] preinstalled.

  11. On side of fixture with fixture wires, pass fixture wires through the loop (attached to the bottom of the canopy), and into canopy.

  12. Cut fixture wires a MINIMUM of 20 inches from the top edge of the canopy.

  13. NOTE: In addition to attaching the mounting plate to the outlet box, the mounting plate must be secured to the ceiling at two (2) locations.
Using the mounting plate[E] as a template, mark the positions of the two (2) ceiling mounting locations: one (1) on each side of the mounting plate. Remove mounting plate.

  14. For mounting locations that land on a wood ceiling joist:
Use a Ø3/32” (2.38 mm) drill bit (not supplied) to drill a pilot hole for an anchor screw[Q] into the ceiling.
For mounting locations that land on drywall only:
Use a Ø3/16” (4.76 mm) drill bit (not supplied) to drill a hole for a drywall anchor into ceiling. Carefully tap a drywall anchor[T] into the hole until it is flush with the mounting surface.

  15. Pass supply wires from the outlet box down through hole in the center of the mounting plate. Attach mounting plate[E] to outlet box[C] using the plate mounting screws[B].

  16. For mounting locations that land on a wood ceiling joist:
Use an anchor screw[Q] to secure the mounting plate to the joist.
For mounting locations that land on drywall only:
Use an anchor screw[Q] to secure the mounting plate to the drywall anchor[T].

  17. Attach safety cable[A] to the mounting plate or to the inside of the outlet box and secure into place to prevent damage to the wires during wiring.

  18. Grounding instructions: (See Illus. a or b).

    • a. On fixtures where the mounting plate is provided with a hole and two raised dimples, wrap ground wire from the outlet box around green ground screw, and thread into the hole.
    • b. On fixtures where a cupped washer is provided, attach the ground wire from outlet box under the cupped washer and green ground screw, and thread into mounting plate.
If the fixture is provided with ground wire, connect the fixture ground wire to the outlet box ground wire with wire connector after following the above steps. Never connect ground wire to black or white power supply wires .KICHLER-52721NI-Madden-6-Light-45-Wide-Taper-Candle-Linear-Chandelier-fig
