Congratulations on getting your new Yale Doorman smart lock!

Did you know that you can connect your Yale Doorman smart lock to the Yale Access –application by using the Yale Access –lock module? (Available as an accessory.) Alternatively you can connect your smart lock to the Yale Smart Home Alarm system. Check yale.fi for more information.

The Yale Doorman smart lock is equipped with an ABLOY BL907 lock body, developed and manufactured in Finland. The lock case bolt is coated with a special low friction coating for easy closing of the door. The surface of the bolt might  showsigns of wear over time, but this is no cause for worry, as the coating will still retain its properties and your door will continue to open and close smoothly

Assembly kit standard door

4 long screws, 8 short scews (M5 Phillips), allen wrench, 2 rubber covers, 1 torx screw to prevent tampering from inside. Content of the assembly kit may vary

1 extra long handle spindle, 1 extra short handle spindle, 4 longer screws, 1 support plate with a screw. Content of the assembly kit may vary

Batteries only for demonstration purposes. Insert new batteries within 4 months after taking your smart lock into use. Product warranty does not cover suppliedbatteries.

Requirements for installation

Check sufficient space for the installation of the inside unit (e.g. door with double sealing) (35 mm). If necessary, use the accessory spindle shift-kit.

Notice operation temperature: Inside +5 to +50 degrees (dry environment) and outside -25 to +70 degrees Celsius.

The gap between door and strike plate should be between 1,5 and 5,5 mm. Trigger bolt shouldn’t sink in the strike plate. Adjust or exchange the strike plate if required.

Preparing the installation

Start by checking your current lock case model from the door

  1. Replacing ABLOY 4190 or LC100 lock case
    • Lock case included in the package fits directly in place
    • Change the handing of the lock if needed (page 8)
  2. Replacing ABLOY LC102 or LC190 (Onefit standard) lock case
    • Change the lock case faceplate to enable installation (page 8)
    • Change the handing of the lock if needed (page 8)
  3. Replacing other lock case models please check compatibility from your Yale reseller.

Changing the handing of the lock

Set the exit handle: Remove the Allen screw and and fix it back to inside (pictures 1 and 2). The side where the screw is fixed always opens the lock mechanically

Changing the faceplate

Change the faceplate if needed.

Check the required length of the inside spindle. The existing 80 mm spindle is suitable for the most common doors. Change the spindle if needed. If you need to the accessory spindle shift kit in your installation, remove the inside spindle completely

Exchange of handle spindle

  1. Remove the c-ring around the handle spindle from the inside of the escutcheon. If possible use a plier for lock ring. Use eye protection!
  2. Remove the handle from the escutcheon.
  3. Unscrew the screw from the handle.
  4. Pull the handle spindle out from the handle. Note that there is a loose spring in the handle that needs to remain there.
  5. Insert the new handle spindle into the handle with the groove in the spindle on the same side as the screw hole in the handle. Fasten the handle screw. Insert the handle to the escutcheon. Remount the c-ring and you are done.

  1. Set the handles to point towards hinges.
  2. Attach the handle with the screws included. Use the screws treated with the blue screw lock adhesive.
  3. Install the support plate with a screw.
  4. Set the dipswitch to left or right according to direction of the handle.
  5. Choose EASY or ADVANCED mode.

Be careful when sliding the lock case into the hole in the door so that no cable is squeezed or cut by the lock case.

  1. Pass the lock case cable through the upper hole.
  2. Slide the lock case into the door.
  3. Fasten the lock case to the door with the screws included.
  4. Insert the outside escutcheon cable above the lock case inside the door.

Cut the mounting screws according the door thickness. Mount the outside with the double sided sticker and check that the handle can retract the bolt.

Run the cables through the insulation pad and push the  insulation pad into the opening on the door. Align and insertthe handle insulation pad so that the screwholes of both the pad and the lock case are aligned

Note: Do not install the insulation pads to a fireproof door.

Do not scratch the circuitboard.

Fasten the inside. Check that the cables are not squeezed

Done and ready for use.

Please remember to replace the included batteries  to new ones within 4 months after taking your Yale Doorman into use. Use high quality alkaline batteries only. Replace batteries minimum every 12 months or 6 months if a lock module is used.

To check after installation

  • Check that the thumb turn locks and unlocks properly. If any of these is
    not working correctly you have not put the right/left switch and/or the right/left screw in correct position. This switch and screw is located on the back side of the inside.

  • Check that the door locks from outside with the -button and opens with correct code/key tag.

  • Check that the trigger bolt doesn’t sink in the strike plate. The gap between door and strike plate should be between 1,5 and 5,5 mm.

  • Check that the handle can move easily and when releasing the handle it should return to horizontal position easily. If this is not the case, please check the length of the square pin and if the product is assembled straight on the door since this can cause malfunction of the product.

  • Check that all codes and keytags and remotes (option) works correctly.

  • Make sure all users knows about the function and location of the battery back up and reset button.

  • Check that the lenght of the bolt in locked position is 20 mm (see pictures).

Connecting Yale Doorman to Smart Home or Alarm Systems

You can connect your Yale Doorman Smart Lock to various Yale or partner systems, such as the Yale Access ecosystem. To connect Yale Doorman to a system you need a lock module for that specific system. Module is placed in the slot found under the battery cover. Modules are sold as accessories.

How to restore factory settings:

  • Remove the batteries.
  • Remove Yale Smart Home or other lock module before restoring the factory settings.
  • Remove the inner escutcheon (do not remove cables).
  • Set EASY/ADVANCED switch to the opposite position.
  • Insert the batteries. The lock will now speak.
  • Remove the batteries.
  • Set EASY/ADVANCED switch back to the correct position.
  • Fasten the inner plate.
  • Insert the batteries again.
  • Now you will be asked to create new master code. After entering the code confirm with P button.
    Note! You have to register the key tags and user codes again.
