Product Usage Instructions

1. Identify Keypad Type: Check if the keypad is Tamper evident / Non-serviceable by examining the shape of the release button. Serviceable keypads have a rectangular / elongated release button.
2. Release Battery Drawer: Press the button to release the battery drawer and remove it from the keypad.
3. Insert Ring Buster Tool: Fully insert the Ring Buster removal tool into the battery drawer compartment.
4. Rotate Keypad: Rotate the keypad counter-clockwise to break the tabs on the retaining ring and release the keypad from the base plate.
5. Remove Retaining Ring: Once the keypad is free, remove and discard the old retaining ring.
6. Reinstall Keypad: Replace the retaining ring and reinstall the keypad following dormakaba’s keypad installation instructions. Five replacement retaining rings are included with the Ring Buster.

The Ring Buster tool is designed to remove keypads installed using the plastic locking ring on tamper evident swing-bolt style locks. It may also be used to rotate tamper evident keypads paired with direct drive deadbolt or spring-bolt locks, although damage to the keypad &/or lock body may result.

1. Identify the keypad as Tamper evident / Non-serviceable by the square shape of the release button on the bottom of the keypad.
   ** Serviceable keypads have a clearly rectangular/elongated release button. Pressing the button will release the keypad to turn counter-clockwise allowing it to be removed from the base plate for battery replacement or service .

2. Press the button to release the battery drawer & remove the battery drawer from the keypad.

3. Insert the Ring Buster removal tool fully into the battery drawer compartment.

4. Rotate the keypad Counter-clockwise to break the tabs on the retaining ring & release the keypad from the base plate.

   • If the keypad is driving a lock via a spindle, the spindle will twist, or the point of engagement with the keypad will break allowing the keypad to rotate & be removed.

5. With the keypad free from the base plate, the old retaining ring may be removed & discarded.

6. Replace the retaining ring and reinstall the keypad per dormakaba’s keypad installation instructions. Five (5) Replacement retaining rings are included with the Ring Buster.
