Avoiding hazards caused by defective Geberit pressing attachments
Geberit pressing attachments (pressing jaws, pressing collars, adapter jaws) are exposed to a great deal of stress during the pressing procedure and will wear out. The use of worn or damaged pressing attachments can lead to serious injuries or death as a result of flying fragments.

  • Only use pressing attachments if they are in perfect working order.
  • Adhere to maintenance intervals.
  • Regularly inspect pressing attachments for defects and damage before and after every use. Check for incipient cracks in the pressing contour and on the flange.
  • If incipient cracks are detected in the pressing attachment, cease using it.

Avoiding damage to Geberit pressing attachments caused by faulty pressing operations

WARNING
Risk of injury caused by the use of incorrect pressing attachments

  • Only use pressing attachments that correspond to the diameter of the press fittings to be processed.

Geberit pressing attachments can be damaged by faulty pressing operations or use, such as by being pressed by foreign bodies.

  • Only use Geberit pressing attachments that carry the compatibility mark or .
  • Do not tilt the pressing attachment on the pressfitting.
  • If you suspect that the pressing attachment is damaged, replace it and have the damaged pressing attachment tested by an authorized repair shop.

Using personal protective equipment
Without suitable protective equipment, people may be seriously injured or killed by flying fragments from Geberit pressing attachments.

  • Wear a protective helmet and protective goggles during the pressing procedure.

Maintenance and repairs are only to be carried out by repair shops
Geberit pressing tools and Geberit pressing attachments that are not maintained, or are not professionally maintained, can cause serious accidents.

  • Users must comply with the date of the next maintenance inspection, stated on the service sticker.
  • Maintenance and repair work may only be performed by authorized repair shops.
  • Perform maintenance on the Geberit pressing tool and Geberit pressing attachments according to instructions. → See “Maintenance”,

Avoiding health hazards posed by permanent operation
Limit values for vibration emission values and noise annoyance can be exceeded during continuous operation and be harmful to health.

  • Wear vibration-absorbing gloves with rubber or foam padding.
  • Schedule breaks and activities in places not exposed to vibration.
  • Wear ear protection.

Radio interface function
The pressing tools with the type designation “plus” are equipped with a Bluetooth® radio interface. When used together with a mobile end device (iOS or Android) and the NovoCheck- App (www.novopress.de), the following functions are available:

  • reading out data, such as the number of pressing operations, tool status, serial number
  • checking the tool electronics
  • setting the pressing point light (if available) and the time until the idle state
  • creating construction site reports

To establish a connection between the pressing tool and an end device, the pressing tool must be ready for operation (tap the start button, green LED lights up, blue LED flashes) and the NovoCheck-App must be installed on the end device. The blue LED lights up when the Bluetooth® connection is successfully established.
The blue LED goes out if it is not possible to establish a connection to the end device before the first pressing operation. The pressing tool must be completely switched off and on again before establishing a connection can be reattempted. The rechargeable battery must also be removed briefly.

  1. Measurement inaccuracy of the sound power level and sound pressure level: 3 dB(A)
  2. Measurement inaccuracy of the vibration emission value: 1.5 m/s2

Note: The stated vibration emission value is measured according to a standardized test process and can be used for comparison with other tools. The stated vibration emission value can also be used for an introductory estimation of the interruption of use. The vibration emission value can differ from the stated value during the actual use of the tool, depending on the way the tool is used. Depending on the actual operating conditions (intermittent operation), it may be necessary to determine safety measures to protect the operator.

Inserting Geberit pressing attachments

  • Pressing attachments are pressing jaws, pressing collars, and adapter jaws.

Observe the user manuals of the Geberit pressing attachments. Check the pressing attachments according to the safety chapter.

  1. Push in both release buttons on the rechargeable battery and pull it out.
  2. Turn the retaining pin by 180° to the front and remove it.
  3. Insert the pressing attachment into the pressing tool.
  4. Push the retaining pin in until the stop position is reached and turn it by 180° to the rear.

ATTENTION
Damage to the device due to incorrect rechargeable battery

  • Make sure that only suitable Geberit lithium-ion batteries of type Milwaukee 18 V are used.
  • Slide the rechargeable battery into the pressing tool from below until it fastens into place.

Result

  • The pressing tool is in an idle state. No LED is lit.

Adjusting the detachable finger guard
Because the length of pressing attachments varies, the pressing tool features an adjustable finger guard to protect your fingers from being crushed while pressing.

  1. In case of short pressing attachments (compatibility 2), slide forward the finger guard until the stop position is reached so that the finger guard fastens into place.
  2. In case of long pressing attachments, slide the finger guard backward.

Adjusting the locking pin of the return stroke limiter

When using short-pressing attachments (compatibility 2), the return stroke limiter can save you time.
Prerequisite
Pressing attachment is not inserted.

  • Tap the start button. During the pressing procedure, pull out the locking pin and rotate by 90°.

  • The locking pin fastens into the groove.

Result

  • The roller drive moves back until it reaches the set locking pin. The pressing tool is ready for operation.
  • To reset the return stroke limiter, tap the start button, pull out the locking pin and rotate back by 90°.

Pressing with Geberit pressing attachments

WARNING
Risk of injury caused by flying fragments
Wear protective goggles and a protective helmet.

WARNING
Risk of injury caused by the use of incorrect pressing attachments
Only use pressing attachments that correspond to the diameter of the press fittings to be processed.

WARNING
Risk of fire from heat build-up

  • Allow the pressing tool to cool down for at least 30 minutes after 30 minutes of continuous operation.
  • Do not place or store the hot pressing tool near easily flammable materials.

The pressing procedure can be canceled at any time. → See Cancelling the pressing procedure.
To improve ease of use, the pressing head of the pressing tool can be turned to any position up to 180° before pressing. The pressing head can only be rotated before the pressing procedure.

Prerequisite

Pipe ends are deburred and clean.

  • The pipe section and pressfitting are fitted together according to the installation manual of the piping system.
  • The pressing attachment is inserted correctly.
  • If necessary, adjust the finger guard. → See “Adjusting the detachable finger guard”,

To activate the tool from an idle state, tap the start button.

  • The tool is ready for operation; the green LED lights up.

Fit the pressing attachment to the pressfitting correctly and do not tilt.
→ See the user manual for the Geberit pressing attachments in question

CAUTION
Danger of crushing
Keep hands away from the pressing attachment.

  • Press the start button for at least 2 seconds.
  • The pressing procedure proceeds automatically after a force is detected, and the green LED switches off.

Result
After the pressing operation has been completed, the roller drive returns to its starting position. The green LED lights up and the pressing tool is ready for operation again.

Cancelling the pressing procedure

  • Press and hold the release button.

Result
The roller drive in the pressing tool returns to its starting position. The pressing procedure must be repeated for a complete press connection. The pressing attachment must not be removed or rotated at this time.
