  • Step 2: Select Chart and Questions
    • After accessing the file, select the chart and questions that need to be scored.
  • Step 3: Click Next
    • Once the chart and questions are selected, click the next button to proceed.
  • Step 4: Review Questions
    • The examiner should advance through the question review using the forward and back buttons or keyboard arrows.
  • Step 5: Exclude Tracings
    • If necessary, exclude tracings by checking the boxes under Components to Drop. Avoid excluding too many tracings to ensure accurate analysis.
  • Step 6: Advance Chart
    • Continue advancing through the questions until all comparisons and relevant questions have been reviewed.
  • Step 7: Save Report
    • No report is saved until the examiner clicks the Save button or menu item.
  • Step 8: View Report Information
    • The report will display all pertinent information including boundaries, component weighting, relevant questions, subject answers, charts scored, and date/time of collection.

Step 1
Access the PF file you want to score using 1 of 2 ways:

  • Desktop OSS3 icon
    • Icon will open software and allow you to browse the PF folder and select the test you wish to score
  • Launch Lafayette software
    • Open the PF file you wish to score
    • Select series in the drop-down menu
    • Select score
    • Select OSS3

Step 2

  • Once the test is selected, specify the exam type
  • Once the exam type is selected, the software will automatically default to the recommended scoring method
  • The examiner should verify that the default scoring method is the one they wish to use
    • If not, adjust accordingly
Note: Most examiners will want to use the recommended default setting.

Step 3

  • Select 3-5 charts to score and ensure that the correct relevant and comparison questions are identified
  • Make sure to verify that your comparison and relevant questions are selected

Step 4
After the chart and questions have been selected, click the next button.

Step 5

  • The charts should appear for review and allow the examiner to drop components from scoring that are affected by artifacts
  • The examiner should review each comparison and relevant question to use the checkboxes to omit segments that should not be scored
    • Note: EDA and Cardio measurements are displayed with a magenta-colored line. Additionally, the 15 second scoring windows for each channel are highlighted in an orange rectangular box.

Step 6
The examiner should advance through the question review by using the forward and back buttons (or the left and right arrows on the keyboard).

Step 7

If the examiner needs to exclude any or all the tracing due to an artifact (ex: a deep breath) they can do so by checking the boxes under “Components to Drop”
Note: Only exclude tracings when necessary. If too many tracings are excluded, there may not be enough to complete the analysis.

Step 8
Once the examiner has reviewed all comparison and relevant questions, then the advance arrow will not move the chart any further.

Step 9

  • The examiner should then select the next button
  • A report will be produced
    • No report is saved until the examiner clicks the “Save” button or menu item
  • The categorical result is shown at the top of the report, along with a statistical classifier in the form of a p-value
  • To display results as confidence level, select tools options scoring report show result as confidence level instead of p-value apply
  • Report will now show results as confidence level

Step 10
The report will show all pertinent information the examiner may need, including:

  • PF name

  • Date report was created

  • Subject and examiner’s name if entered

  • Individual subtotal score p-values

  • Decision rule

  • Under Tools – Options – Advanced, the default alpha boundaries are .05 for SR and NSR. Examiners can adjust these if they choose to do so, and the algorithm will adjust for the new settings.

  • Component weighting

  • Relevant questions that were scored

  • Subject answers

  • Which charts were scored and the date and time they were collected based on a computer clock

  • Dimensionless measurements for all components and all questions

    • Note: if any components were excluded from analysis, they will be highlighted under the measurement section and will have the letter “A” next to it.
  • The report will include standardized lognormal ratios for each relevant ratios for each chart, along with the weighted mean for each relevant question and the grand total mean. These values are z-scores
(standard deviations) ranging from -3 to +3, where + SLRatios contribute to NDI/NSR classifications and – SLRatios contribute to DI/SR classifications. This section will also include a warning if the examination data are scored without visual inspection.

  • Finally, the report will include all settings that were used to score test under the block titled “Advanced Options”
