IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

  1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THE HEATING UNIT (UL LISTED).
  2. DO NOT PLUG INTO LOOSE FITTING OUTLET. Check periodically for a secure plug/outlet fit. If the plug does not fit snugly into the outlet or if the plug becomes very hot, YOUR OUTLET MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED.
  3. Check with a qualified electrician to replace the outlet before use of the fireplace. DO NOT use in outlet that is controlled by a wall switch.
  4. This unit is equipped with the new patent pending Cool Touch Vent. This new vent is designed to keep the front of your fireplace cool while in heat mode. Even with this advanced vent, the air that is blowing out of this fireplace is still hot. To avoid burns, DO NOT let bare skin touch hot surfaces. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, paper, clothing and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9m) from the front of the heating unit.
  5. If an extension cord is required, it must be a three-prong grounded cord of at least 14 gauge. Avoid the use of non-compliant extension cords, because these extension cords may overheat and cause damage to the fireplace and risk of fire.
  6. This unit contains many safety features. One of these features is a built-in tip-over switch that automatically shuts the unit off in the unlikely event of the unit tipping over while in use. The unit is also equipped with a 15 amp surge protector that will protect the unit in the event of an electrical surge. If the unit shuts off automatically for any reason, please refer to the troubleshooting section for further instructions.
  7. Extreme caution is necessary when any heating unit is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
  8. DO NOT place heavy objects such as TVs, stereos or computers on top of this unit. Placing heavy objects on top may cause the unit to become unbalanced and tip over.
  9. Use caution when moving the fireplace unit from room to room. Carefully supervise children, DO NOT permit them to play on or around the unit. DO NOT place items on top of the mantle that might tempt children to climb on the fireplace.
  10. Always unplug the heating unit when not in use.
  11. DO NOT operate any heating unit with a damaged cord or plug or after the unit malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Contact Customer Satisfaction at the number listed in the Customer Satisfaction section of this manual for further instructions.
  12. DO NOT use outdoors.
  13. This heating unit is not intended for use in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations. NEVER locate heating unit where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container. DO NOT run cord under the carpeting. DO NOT cover cord with throw rugs, runners or the like. Arrange cord away from traffic areas where it will not be tripped over.
  14. To prevent overloading a circuit, DO NOT plug the heater into a circuit that is already supplying power to other appliances.
  15. DO NOT plug this heating unit into power strips or surge protectors.
  16. This heater is for use on 120 volts. The cord has a plug as shown in figure A. An adapter as shown in figure C is available at retail stores (not included) for connecting three-blade grounding-type plugs to two-slot receptacles.
  17. The green grounding lug extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box. The adapter should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is available. DO NOT PLUG INTO LOOSE FITTING OUTLET.
  18. To disconnect the heating unit first turn off the product, then grip the plug and pull it from the wall outlet. NEVER pull by the cord.
  19. DO NOT insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust openings as this may cause an electrical shock, fire or damage to the heater.
  20. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. DO NOT use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  21. A heating unit has hot and glowing parts inside. DO NOT use it in areas where gasoline, paint or other flammable liquids are used or stored.
  22. DO NOT modify this heating unit. Use it only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electrical shock or injury.
  23. The new Cool Touch Vent keeps the heating unit from getting hot; but the output air may still vary in temperature. At times the air may become intense enough to burn exposed skin. Use of this heating unit is not recommended for persons with reduced sensitivity to heat or an inability to react to avoid burns.
  24. DO NOT burn wood or other materials in this fireplace.
  25. DO NOT strike fireplace glass.
  26. When transporting or storing the fireplace and cord, keep in a dry place, free from excessive vibration and store so as to avoid damage.
