vtech Calming Purrs Kitten
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Calming Purrs Kitten!
Dreams can come true thanks to this kitten! This snuggly feline is ready to
help babies self-soothe as they relax. With rhythmic breathing and peaceful
sounds and melodies, it helps little ones enjoy quiet time with their kitty
companion.

WARNING: All packing materials such as tape, plastic sheets, packaging
locks, removable tags, cable ties, cords and packaging screws are not part of
this toy and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
NOTE : Please save this Instruction Manual as it contains important
information.
WARNING : Keep this soft toy out of the sleeping environment of babies
under twelve months to avoid suffocation risk.
BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
- Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery cover on the back of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw and then open the battery cover.
- If used batteries are present, remove these batteries from the unit by pulling up on one end of each battery.
- Install 4 new AA (AM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (For best performance, alkaline batteries or fully charged Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are recommended.)
- Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.
WARNING: Adult assembly required for battery installation. Keep batteries out of reach of children.
IMPORTANT: BATTERY INFORMATION
- Insert batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -).
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable batteries.
- Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
- Do not short-circuit the supply terminals.
- Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
- Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
- Dispose of batteries safely. Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES:
- Remove rechargeable batteries (if removable) from toy before charging.
- Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
- Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
ACTIVATE NORMAL PLAY MODE
This product is in Try-Me mode in the package. To activate normal play mode, please turn the toy Off and then back On.
Disposal of batteries and product
The crossed-out wheelie bin symbols on products and batteries, or on their
respective packaging, indicates they must not be disposed of in domestic waste
as they contain substances that can be damaging to the environment and human
health.
The chemical symbols Hg, Cd or Pb, where marked, indicate that the battery
contains more than the specified value of mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd) or lead
(Pb) set out in the Batteries and Accumulators Regulation.
The solid bar indicates that the product was placed on the market after 13th
August, 2005.
Please dispose of your product and batteries responsibly.
In the UK, give this toy a second life by disposing of it at a small electricals collection point* so all of its materials can be recycled.

REMOVING THE BODY COVER OF KITTEN TO WASH
- Remove the body cover by pulling open the hook and loop fasterner, followed by disconnecting and pulling out the internal electronic module (see image).
- To reattach, align the plush exterior tabs to the moon circle located on the chest of the kitten and press together (see image). Then, seal up the hook and loop fastener.
PRODUCT FEATURES

On/Off/Mode Switch
To turn On the unit, slide the On/Off/Mode Switch located on the electronic module to Melodies with Cat Purr , Nature Sounds or Melodies .
To turn the unit Off, slide the On/Off/Mode Switch to the Off position. -
Volume Switch
Press the + or – button to the desired volume level. -
Light On/Off Button
Press the button to turn the LED light On or Off. -
Motion On/Off Button
Press the button to turn the Breathing Motion On or Off. -
Star Button
To activate soothing sounds or melodies press the Star Button once to activate for 15 minutes, twice for 30 minutes, and three times for 45 minutes. When the selected time duration has passed, the toy will automatically enter sleep mode. -
Moon Button
When the product is in sleep mode, press the Moon Button to turn on the soft light and start playing soothing melodies and sounds. Press the Moon Button again to stop the current audio. To play the next melody or sound, press the Moon Button once again. -
Automatic Shut-Off
To preserve battery life, the Calming Purrs Kitten will automatically power down after the selected time duration. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button or sliding the On/Off/Mode Switch.
ACTIVITIES

Slide the On/Off/Mode Switch to turn the unit On.

Slide the On/Off/Mode Switch to Melody with Cat Purr to hear 15 random melodies with cat purring sound effects. Press the Moon Button (on the kitten’s chest) twice to change the melody.
Press the Moon Button to stop the current melody, then press it again to begin the next one. The LED light will fade in and out slowly with the cat purr sound effects and melodies. -
Slide the On/Off/Mode Switch to Nature Sound to hear 10 different types of Nature Sounds. Press the Moon Button (on the kitten’s chest) twice to change the nature sound.
Press the Moon Button to stop the current nature sound, then press it again to begin the next nature sound. The LED light will fade in and out slowly with the nature sounds. -
Slide the On/Off/Mode Switch to Melody to hear 15 different melodies. Press the Moon Button (on the kitten’s chest) twice to change the melody.
Press the Moon Button to stop the current melody, then press it again to begin the next one. The LED light will fade in and out slowly with the melodies.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
- Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
- Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat sources.
- Remove the batteries if the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.
- Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
- The body fur can be removed from the toy and is hand washable for cleaning.
- Make sure the fur is dry before reattaching it to the toy.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the unit stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:
- Turn the unit Off.
- Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
- Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
- Turn the unit On. The unit should now be ready to use again.
- If the unit still does not work, install a new set of batteries.
