or -
be used independently.
Inserting / replacing the batteries
When the battery level is low, the battery status indicator (2) flashes on the LCD display (6).
- Switch the barbecue thermometer (1) off using the ON/OFF button (5).
- Unlock the battery compartment cover (16) and remove it.
- Insert two AAA 1.5V (Micro/R03/LR3) batteries, making sure the polarity is correct. Refer to the diagram inside the battery compartment (15).
- Close the battery compartment (15) by replacing the cover (16). You should hear it click into place.
Connecting the temperature sensors (12; 13)
Before using it for the first time, remove the transport protection (black
rubber cover) from the temperature sensors (12; 13) ends.
Insert the connector (10; 11) into the socket (8; 9) on the side of the
barbecue thermometer (1).
When not using it, you can wind the temperatures sensors (12; 13) cables
around the barbecue thermometer (1) and fix the temperatures sensors (12; 13)
on the barbecue thermometer (1) top. There is an additional plastic nose for
this purpose.
Controlling the barbecue thermometer (1) using the app
You can use an app to conveniently control the barbecue thermometer (1).
The app controls are much more complex than the temperature display on the
barbecue thermometer (1) itself. For example, you can select different meat
types with recommended cooking levels or you can program custom settings.
Control and settings for this product are done from the LIDL HOME app.
Use the following link to download the app suitable for your mobile device:
To be able to add the barbecue thermometer (1) to
the app, Bluetooth® must be enabled on your smartphone.
Now start the app. The barbecue thermometer (1) is detected automatically.
Now you can use an app to conveniently control the barbecue thermometer (1).
Getting started
-
Switch the barbecue thermometer (1) on by keeping the ON/OFF button (5) pressed (for approx. 3 seconds).
-
The flashing and increasing/decreasing intensity of the pairing indicator (7) means that the device is attempting to establish a Bluetooth® connection with a smartphone and the corresponding control app.
-
As soon as the connection is established, the pairing indicator (7) remains on.
If the temperature sensor (12; 13) is not connected to the barbecue thermometer (1), “- – -” is displayed as the current temperature on the LCD display (6). In this case, no temperature is transmitted to the smartphone.
In this case, make sure the connector (10; 11) is inserted correctly into the socket (8; 9) and that the distance between the barbecue thermometer (1) and the smartphone is not too great. -
If the Bluetooth® connection is interrupted, a short beep sounds every 10 seconds on the barbecue thermometer (1). Briefly press the ON/OFF button (5) to switch this warning beep off.
-
To force disconnecting the Bluetooth® connection, briefly press the On/Off button (5) three times.
Position when in use
The range of the barbecue thermometer (1) is about 50 metres in optimum
conditions.
There are two magnets (14) on the back of the barbecue thermometer (1). This
means you can also stick the barbecue thermometer (1) to a magnetic surface.
When positioning the barbecue thermometer (1), make sure that you can easily
reach the food whose core temperature you wish to measure with the temperature
sensors (12; 13) cable.
The barbecue thermometer (1) is made of plastic. Therefore, do not affix it to
parts of the handle which get very hot, e.g. on the barbecue cover or the
charcoal dish. Otherwise the barbecue thermometer (1) may be damaged.
Measuring the core temperature
For low core temperatures, only use meat which is fresh and in excellent condition. Generally, low core temperatures are not suitable for frozen or vacuum-packed meat.
- With the barbecue thermometer (1) switched on, guide the point of the temperature sensor (12; 13) into the thickest part of the meat. It makes sense to feed the temperature sensor (12; 13) into the meat from the side, as you can then still turn it. Avoid contact between the temperature sensor (12; 13) and bones. This can result in an inaccurate temperature measurement. The temperature sensor (12; 13) should also not be inserted into pure fat for the same reason.
- After a short time, the core temperature of the food is shown on the display (6) and, if applicable, in the app.
- If you added multiple pieces of the same meat of similar shape and size to the pan or the barbecue at the same time, you can assume that the correct level of cooking has also been achieved for the other pieces as well.
Cooking chart
The following cooking chart can be used as a guide. The values quoted can
differ slightly as a function of the quality of the meat used.
*: Please note that the core temperature quoted
for beef applies to steak.
If you are hypersensitive to germs, make sure that the meat reaches a core
temperature of 70 °C – 80 °C for several minutes.
Cleaning
Always allow the barbecue thermometer (1) to cool completely before cleaning.
There is a risk of getting burnt.
The barbecue thermometer and accessories are not suitable for cleaning in the
dishwasher.
-
Clean the barbecue thermometer (1), especially the temperature sensors (12; 13) after every use.
Do not use solvents or aggressive detergents, brushes with metallic bristles or metallic objects such as knives, spatulas or similar. -
The barbecue thermometer (1) and accessories cannot be washed in the dishwasher.
