Introduction

  • Regularly check that the bicycle holder is secured on the load carriers and that the bicycle’s securing devices are properly tightened.

Preparations
Before installation, ensure you have the necessary adapter kit for square and aluminum rails, which can be purchased separately.

  • Thread the rubber rings onto the tensioner straps.VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(4\)
  • Park the straps to facilitate installation.

Installation on 20 mm T-track Rail

  1. Position the bicycle holder on the 20 mm T-track rail.

  2. Secure the holder in place according to the provided instructions.

  3. Thread the shorter T-screw (35 mm) through the rear hole of the bicycle holder’s rear bracket and tighten the tensioner arm a few turns.

  4. Thread the longer T-screws (61 mm) into the front brackets and tighten the tensioner arm a few turns.VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(7\)

  5. Adjust the position of the rear mounting so that it fits the distance between the load carriers.VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(8\)

  6. Lift the bicycle holder onto the roof and align the mounting screws in the load carrier T-track.VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(8\)

  7. Tighten the tensioner arms.VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(10\)

  8. Fold down the tensioner arms.

  9. If the tension feels slack: tighten the tensioner arms further.

  10. If tensioning is very stiff: slacken off the tensioner arms slightly.

  12. Turn the key in the lock on the front tensioner arm.

Installation on Square Section and Aluminum Rails

  1. Use the adapter kit (sold separately) for installing on square and aluminium rails.

  2. Follow the installation instructions provided with the adapter kit to securely mount the bicycle holder.

  • Thread the shorter mounting screw (64.5 mm) through the front hole of the bicycle holder’s rear bracket and tighten the tensioner arm a few turns.
  • Thread the longer mounting screws (92 mm) into the front brackets and tighten the tensioner arms a few turns.VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(13\)
  • Hook the two brackets into place in the front bracket.VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(14\)

  • Adjust the position of the rear mounting so that it fits the distance between the load carriers.VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(16\)
  • Lift the bicycle holder onto the roof.
  • Thread the brackets around the front load carrier and secure the brackets on the screw heads.
  • Repeat the operation for the rear load carriers.

  • Fold down the tensioner arms.

Transportation
When transporting your bicycle, ensure that the bracket does not come into contact with the car roof to prevent damage to the paint.

  • Fold up the frame holder.
  • Lift the bicycle onto the bicycle holder.
  • Push down the frame holder as far as possible.

  • Centre the wheel holders with the wheel hubs.
  • Tighten the wheels using the straps.

  • Check that the bicycle and bicycle holder are firmly secured.

Adjusting Resistance in the Frame Holder

  • For left-hand mounting, secure the end pieces of the frame holder.

  • Adjust the resistance in the frame holder by following the provided guidelines.

  • Tighten the screws in the front bracket.

  • Remove the end pieces of the bicycle holder.

  • Slide the wheel holders and the rear bracket of the bicycle holder’s profile and secure the end pieces. VOLVO-V50-Bicycle-Holder-Roof-Mounted-fig- \(30\)
  • Ensure that the wheel holders are aligned so that the tensioners point outwards from the centre of the bicycle holder.
  • Slacken off the front bracket using a screwdriver.
  • Turn the bracket.
