Operating principle
Socket (type B) switches on and off the 120 V~ power supply by opening one
pole at the user’s command in the Ajax app or automatically according to a
scenario, by pressing the Button, or by schedule. Socket (type B) has
protection against voltage overruns in the range of 92-132 V~ or current
overruns of more than 15 A. If the voltage overruns, the power supply is
switched off and restored automatically when the values are normalized. If the
current exceeds the permissible limits, the power supply is automatically
turned off, but can only be restored manually by the user in the Ajax app.
Operating modes Socket (type B) can operate in pulse or bistable mode. A user
with administrator or PRO rights can set the normal state of the socket
contacts:
- Normally closed – the socket stops supplying power when activated and restores it when switched off.
- Normally open – the socket supplies power when activated and stops supplying power when switched off.
The app allows you to check the power or amount of energy consumed by electrical appliances that operate via Socket (type B).
Socket (type B) protection types
Socket (type B) has three types of protection that work independently:
voltage, current, and temperature.
- Voltage protection: triggered if the socket voltage exceeds the range of 92-132 V~. Protects connected devices from power surges.
- Current protection: triggered if the load current exceeds the limits set in the Ajax app. Protects connected devices and the smart socket from overcurrent. The current limit value is set in the range from 1 to 15 A in 1 A increments in the Socket (type B) settings
- Temperature protection: triggered when the smart socket heats up above 167 °F. Protects the smart socket from overheating.
If the voltage or temperature protection is triggered, the power supply via Socket (type B) is interrupted. The power supply is automatically restored when the voltage or temperature returns to normal.
