Installation

APP INSTALLATION

  • Ensure the phone is connected to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network
  • NOTE: Select Wi-Fi networks may display 2G and 5G network options to connect to –Choose the 2G network to enable the pairing process
  • Confirm that the phone has Location Services and Bluetooth turned ON during installation
  • Download the Raindrip app – search for Raindrip in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Create a Raindrip account
  • Enter a personal email account; a verification code will be sent to this email
  • If the verification code does not appear in the inbox, check junk or spam email folders
  • Accept permissions, and click “Go to App”

PREPARE FOR INSTALLATION

  • Choose an indoor location for the gateway that is close to an electrical outlet and in range of the Wi-Fi router and timer
  • Gateway should be within 150 ft. of the timer (150 ft. range is in open area without interference)
  • Install 2 AA batteries and ensure the timer is near the gateway during initial pairing

PAIR THE GATEWAY

  • Plug the power adapter into the gateway, then plug the pronged end into the electrical outlet
  • After the gateway starts blinking, press “Add Device” in the Raindrip app

  • Once the gateway shows up as a discovered device, tap “Add”

  • Enter the Wi-Fi network name and password for the 2.4GHz network to which the mobile phone is connected
  • Once the gateway shows as “Added Successfully,” tap “Done”

PAIR THE TIMER

  • Install the 2 AA batteries into the battery tray; make sure to line up the + – directions on the batteries with the same markings in the tray

  • Tap “Add Device” on the Raindrip gateway screen

  • Tap “Search for Devices”

  • Ensure light is flashing on timer and tap “Light is Flashing”

  • Check that batteries are inserted properly if light is not flashing

  • Once the timer shows up as “Discovered,” tap “Next”

  • Click “Done”

  • You will be directed to the Raindrip timer control panel

  • Tap “Water Now” and select “10 minutes” to start a TEST manual watering cycle. Press “confirm” and listen for a click from the timer. Look for the flashing green light to confirm connection is successful

  • Tap the “Pause” button to stop manual watering; listen for the soft click to indicate the timer has stopped watering

  • The timer is ready for use and can be installed on an outdoor faucet

SET UP “MY HOME”

  • NOTE: This is required to enable weather-based watering functions

  • Go back to the home screen by clicking the back arrow in the top left corner twice

  • Set up “My Home” to get local weather data

  • From the home screen, click on “Me”

  • Click on “Home Management”

  • Click on “My Home”

  • Rename “My Home” if desired

  • Tap “Location”

  • Confirm that the pin is at the location

  • of the timer or type the Address, City, or Zip Code of where the timer will be located

  • Click “Confirm”

Programming

TIMER CONTROL OVERVIEW

  • Water Now – enables a manual watering cycle for a duration of your choosing
    • Tap “Water Now” to choose the duration of the water cycle and tap “Confirm” to begin watering
    • If you want to stop watering before the countdown is over, tap the “PAUSE” button to stop watering
  • Delay – enables a manual delay of watering, allowing you to stop any scheduled waterings for a specific time period
    • Tap “Delay” and select how long to delay watering, then tap “Confirm”
    • If you want to cancel the delay before the countdown is over, tap “Delay,” select “OFF,” then tap “Confirm”
  • Schedule – program watering schedules
    • Tap the “+” to program a new schedule
  • History
    • See total water consumption and watering details by week, month, or year

Settings

  • No irrigation times – set days and times that you don’t want watering to occur
  • Enter Begin and End time, and set “How Often” to apply this setting
  • Switch water units
    • Toggle the switch to move from gallons to liters

Rename
To rename the timer, tap “Raindrip Timer” (default name), tap the pencil icon, enter the desired name, then tap “Confirm”

Device Information

  • Should you require support, the Virtual ID and other information can be found here
  • Offline Notifications – toggle this switch to turn ON notifications to alert you if the timer is offline
  • Device Update – tap to see latest device firmware version and to start any updates

SCHEDULING INSTRUCTIONS

Normal – Timed Schedule – will work for most applications

  • Select Start Time, How Long to Water, How Often to Water, then click “Save”
    • Days of Week will work for most applications and will water based on the days selected
    • Odd or Even Days will water based on the calendar day (odd = 1, 3, 5, etc.)
    • Interval Days option allows you to choose an interval to which watering will occur (for example, “Water every 3 days”) and allows you to choose the day the interval should start (such as “Jan 28th”)

Advanced Cycle & Soak Schedule – divides irrigation runtimes into smaller intervals with short breaks in between to allow water more time to soak into the soil. This can keep more water on the landscape and saves water by reducing runoff.

  • Select Start and End Time (for example, “Start 9 am, End 10 am”)
  • Select How Long to Water and How Long to Soak (for example, “Water 5 mins, Soak 10 mins”)
  • Select How Often to Water (see Normal Schedule directions above)
  • Schedules can be toggled on and off from the Watering Schedule screen
  • Up to 10 schedules can be created and stored
  • Tip – refer to the “Settings” section on page 10 to set days and times that you don’t want watering to occur
  • Use directional arrows to see different time periods

Weather-based Watering

  • To enable weather-based watering, set up of “My Home” data is required (See SET UP “MY HOME” section on page 9)
  • Tap Routine
  • Tap “Create Scene” or tap the “+” icon in the top right corner
  • To enable weather-based watering, choose “When weather changes”

  • Choose the weather parameter (Temperature, Humidity, Weather, Sunset/Sunrise, Wind Speed) upon which the routine will be based

  • Choose the value or condition, then tap “Next”

  • Create scene using “if, then” logic

  • If – will list the value you chose in the last step

  • Then – tap “+” to add the desired action

    • Tap “Control Single Device”
    • Select a device from the list
    • Tap “Switch,” choose action (Switch On will turn the timer ON)
    • Tap “Next”
  • Validity scope – no choice required for basic weather-based watering functions; advanced users may require additional conditions

  • More Settings – no choice required; will use cloud features by default

  • Tap “Save”

  • Enter a Scene Name and tap “Confirm”

  • Tap “Yes” to start using the Routine

  • Routines can be toggled on and off in the Routine screen

  • Tap the 3 dots in the upper right to Manage Routines or view logs of automated routine events
