MERRILL C1000 Hydrant Head
Overview
Replacing a Hydrant Head
Any Flow, C1000, CNL-1000, M2000, E5000 & R6000
- Place a piece of tape around the standpipe just under the hydrant head. This will allow you to know how far down the head casting needs to be replaced after the work is completed.
- Turn off the water supply.
- Unscrew the head from the standpipe (This may take 2 people to complete. 1 person with a pipe wrench to secure the standpipe. Another person with a pipe wrench at the base of the head to unscrew it.
- Pull out the inside rod and plunger, should be attached to the head. Make sure to pull straight up as to not bend the rod.
- Using vice grips, unscrew the rod at the reducer.
- Attach the old rod and plunger to the new head.
- Tighten head until it touches the tape.
- No further adjustments should be necessary.
Tools Needed
- Vice-Grips
- 2x Pipe Wrenches
