How do I connect a replacement Genie Mini?

If you received your replacement Genie Mini receiver and ready to connect it, see the step-by-step instructions below. If also connecting a Genie HD DVR, please do that first.
If you have a Genie 2 (HS 17) server in your home, please follow these instructions. Click here.
Step 1 Connect replacement
- Carefully stack your replacement Genie Mini on top of your non-working Genie Mini.
- Transfer one connection at a time from the non-working Genie Mini to the replacement Genie Mini, except for the power cord.
- Plug the power cord into the replacement Genie Mini, then into a power outlet. If the receiver doesn’t automatically power up, press the POWER button.
- Turn on your TV.

Step 2 Reset Remote
- On the remote, press and hold MUTE and SELECT.
- The GREEN LED will blink twice.
- Press 9-8-7 on your remote.
- The GREEN LED will blink four times if successful.
Step 3 Set up
Go to the TV connected to your main Genie HD DVR – which may be in a different room.
- Press MENU on your Genie remote.
- Select Settings > Whole-Home > Manage Clients > Add Clients. Take note of the 4-digit PIN that displays on screen, but do not select Done.
Return to the TV connected to your new Genie Mini.
- Enter the 4-digit PIN.
- Select Replace a Location , choose the Client or Mini you want to remove and select Replace.
- Select Yes, Replace to confirm.
Note: The new Mini may display a flashing red LED and the screen may flash gray during this step.
Return to the TV connected to your main Genie HD DVR and select Done on the Add Client screen.
Step 4 Activate Receiver

Step 6 Return Equipment
Return your non-working Genie Mini. No need to pack anything unless you choose to — but you can use the box your replacement was shipped in. Return the equipment within 21 days to avoid a non-return fee of $45.
- Take your equipment directly to your nearest FedEx Office® or The UPS Store® location
- Have your 9-digit account number (located on the packing slip or on your billing statement)
