Local Channel Connector troubleshooting tips

I see the following message telling me my signal is weak: “Your Over-the- Air signal for this channel is weak, which may degrade your picture quality. (792)”

This means the signal is weak or there is no signal.

  • Unplug Local Channel Connector power adapter. Wait 10 seconds and plug it back in.
  • Unplug USB from the receiver and plug it back in.
  • If not fixed, check antenna connections or position.

The New Over-the-Air Tuner Found message did not display.

  • Make sure Local Channel Connector is connected to primary receiver via the USB (not SATA) port. Connector is not compatible with smaller/wireless receivers.
  • If the message doesn’t display within 5-10 seconds, run the Start Setup by going to Menu > Settings , then scroll to the right and click OK on Sat & Antenna. In the Satellite Dish & Antenna Setup menu, select Over-the-Air Antenna Setup > Start Settings.  Follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Check all connections
  • Make sure Local Channel Connector power adapter is plugged into an outlet not controlled by a wall switch.
  • If it’s plugged in, unplug the Connector power adapter then plug it back in.
  • Unplug the Connector from the receiver and plug it back in.
  • If you still have trouble, restart the receiver and try again.

Over-the-Air Channels button is not selectable in the Over-the-Air Antenna Setup screen.

  • Check power cables and connections.
  • Check antenna location and move to a better location if possible. For tips on the best placement, download Winegard’s HDTV Tower Finder app available through your app store.
  • Run the Start Antenna Setup again:
  • Go to Menu > Settings , then scroll to the right and click OK on Sat & Antenna.
  • In the Satellite Dish & Antenna Setup menu, select Over-the-Air Antenna Setup > Start Setup.

Programs from over-the-air channels do not readily display in “All Seasons” Search results

  • Press “-“ on the remote to display the Smart Search screen
  • Enter the program name using the keypad
  • Select the program name from the search results
  • From the left menu, select Upcoming Airings

Where can I find signal strength for Over the Air channels?

  • Menu > Settings > Over-the-Air Antenna Setup > Edit Antenna Channels > Signal Meter

Many channels display “Red” in the Signal Strength screen .

  • Check antenna location and move to a better location if possible. For tips on the best placement, download Winegard’s HDTV Tower Finder app available through your app store.

Many channels display no color in the Signal Strength screen and say Not Acquired.

  • Check Local Channel Connector power cable and connections to the receiver.

Channels are missing in the Signal Strength screen.

  • Run the Start Setup again.
  • Go to Menu > Settings , then scroll to the right and click OK on Sat & Antenna.
  • In the Satellite Dish & Antenna Setup menu, select Over-the-Air Antenna Setup > Start Setup.
